Ready for Naomi to make mincemeat out of the witness.

Take 1 medium size Andy. Add a pinch of do you agree with me and a sprinkle of can you go to the bundle.

Mix well then leave to marinate overnight.

A message from the clerk has appeared in the chat to say they are having a private case management hearing before today's proceedings.

Thank you. It's not there in my chat, so perhaps we are in 2 different rooms.

There were at least 4 rooms in Peggie v Fife & Upton.

MarieDeGournay · 03/10/2025 10:30

TT-
The Clerk has let us know that there is at present a private case management issue being discussed, and the start of the public part of the hearing is therefore delayed

OnAShooglyPeg · 03/10/2025 10:30

Ah, I have been kicked. If they are having a private meeting I assume we've all been kicked?

Back to the WFTCHTJ trance!

Then put through a mincer and cook in a hot oven for 10 hours? You know it's ready when it starts sobbing. After all, that's what they did to Maria Kelly...

ickky · 03/10/2025 10:26

@CriticalCondition You must be in a different room to me then, as nothing has appeared on my one. Thank you for the info.

Interesting that there was no mention of separate 'rooms' for the remote observers in the bumpf from the court. I wonder how many rooms they have. I did wonder about the apparently low number of observers which is in the mid teens in my room.. And I'm surprised that messages from the clerk don't get posted across them all automatically and it depends who you've got in charge of your room.

We are still waiting for the hearing to begin; the livestream has not yet started.

UTC - I've just googled it. Coordinated Universal Time but that would be CUT so I wonder is it Temps Universel Coordiné or something?

A plug for TT:
If you would like to see previous cases we have covered, you can do so on our Substack. tribunaltweets.substack.com/ It is free to view. If you would like to support our work you can set up a small voluntary subscription which helps with travel etc

In the context of the discussions about the utterly ridiculous (toilet-based) world we live in, I thought you were joking/making this up as you went along!

Haha I am so sorry. I googled myself and:

Why is UTC used as the acronym for Coordinator Universal Time instead of CUT?
In 1970, the Coordinated Universal Time system was devised by an international advisory group of technical experts within the International Telecommunication Union (ITU). The ITU felt it was best to designate a single abbreviation for use in all languages in order to minimize confusion. For example, in English the abbreviation for coordinated universal time would be CUT, while in French the abbreviation for "temps universel coordonné" would be TUC. To avoid appearing to favor any particular language, the abbreviation UTC was selected.

I think if you have quite a few of them all on at the same time, they can interfere with each other.

If they’re good ones, and set up right, they don’t!

ickky · 03/10/2025 10:10

All the mics are wireless, I think that is why the sound is so bad.

Ah, progress. It's like self-service checkouts that always seem to have three or four staff members around them to sort out problems😁

NotNatacha · 03/10/2025 10:35

I'm still in, @OnAShooglyPeg
I hope you are back, now.

I think they've split us into much smaller groups this time so hopefully there is many many rooms!

There are (very) approximately the same number of observers in my room as there were in Dundee.

Maybe I'm in the big gang. Strength in numbers.

How dare you suggest that I would jokingly make stuff up as I go along! As if! I never! Withdraw that accusation instantly if not sooner! I am always serious and completely factual!
I'm going to sue you for defamation Nebulous, and I'm going to get NC to represent me so Prepare to Meet Thy Doom😁

I was wondering why, on the same basis, the International Telecommunications Union didn’t agree that it should be called not the ITU or the UIT but instead the UTI.

Then the penny dropped.

NotNatacha · 03/10/2025 10:41

In Dundee there were never as many people in my room as I'd read it had capacity for. (apologies for grammar)

I took that to mean that there were quite a few people who had been granted access but used it only occasionally.

CriticalCondition · 03/10/2025 10:43

I think it could be reassuring for anyone who is worried about their name being in the list of people logged in to watch. It's only visible to the other people in the same room rather than every single other observer.

Marie, everyone is going to be fighting over Naomi...

MarieDeGournay · 03/10/2025 10:44

There's also Zulu time, but I think that's just the military word for UTC?
The lovely thing about this board is that I just KNOW someone will have the answer, somebody here knows everythingSmile

flopsyuk · 03/10/2025 10:46

Is it enough of a defence for Leonardo to plead that they took legal advice from Make UK?

(As well as their advice on 'gender' issues as per their website)

Scout2016 · 03/10/2025 10:47

I have been increasingly angry on Maria's behalf about how ill prepaid cocky AL was. This is monumental for her, caused years of stress, distress and work, she was meticulous...and he just rocked up like he was going to blag it at a business lunch. Really f-ing insulting. Being Maria sat there hearing him and it being so apparent to everyone how little thought and care he had given the matter must have felt like a twist of the knife. Especially given they must have some preexisting working relationship, and clearly it means nothing to him.

That's OK, I have experience on my side 😎
edited to say - unfortunate timing for this levity after the previous serious post about MK, unintentional.

Signalbox · 03/10/2025 10:50

What can be taking so long? Perhaps after 45 mins of a NC cross examination they’ve decided to throw in the towel!

GCITC · 03/10/2025 10:54
