Just at trigger warning that there are some graphic details in this article.

This is terrifying news for women in Ireland.
Barbie spent time in the female prison and was eventually moved after making threats to rape, torture and murder female inmates and prison officers.

In other news Ireland is celebrating the 10th anniversary of Self ID this week.
Barbie Kardashian is legally a woman in Ireland and cannot be legally refused access to female spaces.

His claims that he holds no threat towards anyone but his parents wears very thin when he talks about the prison staff he is still angry with, and threatening to kill, and then mentions the woman who complained that he left the shower dirty who he threatened to rape with an object ( the rational being that women rape other women with objects so he would use that not his penis). Clearly anyone who threatens his fragile sense of self is in danger of violent retaliation because his understanding of appropriate behaviour is so out of synch. He is extremely dangerous because he knows no limits and has no ability to regulate his own responses to other people.

I posted about BK's release over on Craicnet, because it's women in Ireland who are in the firing line if BK decides to act out his violent fantasies.

I'm puzzled because the reaction has been... muted, I think is the best word.
There are 16 posts. One page. Obviously all of them are horrified at his release. But I detect not much sense of concern or urgency - though somebody did worry about Paddy O'Gorman's dog.

I'm very concerned, and hope that he is deemed to have broken the terms of his release [on licence, I think it was] and back under lock and key ASAP.
Though I do feel sorry for the prison service having to deal with him again.

“That’s Ireland off my holiday list.” writes @viques
Unfortunately with travel so easy nowadays, nowhere is safe from offenders.
An Irishman who committed a heinous crime here in Ireland and our police suspect is implicated in at least one murder of a young woman, when released from prison went to the UK. He was also in the Netherlands apparently. But afaik he is now in the UK.
You could be sitting beside him in the pub or on a bus.

I don’t think he would commit an offence in any country where he would automatically be housed in a male prison. So , phew, I think the UK is a BK safe zone. For now.

Thiugh in principle I agree with you that ease of travel for convicted offenders is a worry. There should be some offences for which freedom of movement is curtailed, though how this would be monitored is another issue.

"I hope his mental health slips so that allows him to be sectioned."

I don't understand why he isn't sectioned now - is anyone able to explain this?

He went to court 5 years ago and proved he was legally sane.

As he is legally sane he cant be sectioned. The judge basically agreed that he did want and planned to stab his mother to death and rape her however criminal thoughts or action are not proof of insanity nor a reason for him to be sectioned.

He may have / could have a personality disorder rather than a mental health type disorder which can be managed medically

The judge took care in looking at all the evidence and accepted that he had the legal capacity and ability to form criminal intent.

She recomended that the Gardai investigate the witness statements which led to the prison term.

The High Court case pdf and link was posted on MN at the time

He was held in a men's prison in Ireland before he was released, and would be put back in a men's prison if he offends again in Ireland.

Let's hope that whatever country he ends up in, the fact that he is unlikely to be sent to a women's prison will act as a brake on his offending.

But how logical is he? He has been declared sane enough to be criminally liable, but that doesn't mean much when it comes to his behaviour.
