I bought Greg James’ new book, hoping for some entertaining fluff along similar lines to his likeable breakfast show persona. In a chapter on ‘not growing up’ he is talking about accepting new ideas and then - of course - weighs in on the FWS Supreme Court decision.

“It’s a backwards step and another reminder that we all have to try and understand the world as it changes”.

I honestly can’t believe he thought it was worth wasting the paper to print this. Is it too much to ask that people who don’t have the slightest bit of understanding about something could just shut up about it?

He lives in a world where this doesn’t affect him in the slightest, and thinks it’s just ‘kind’.
we have a friend who is similar, he also only has boys.

I can absolutely promise you that if either of them were single and looking for a relationship it wouldn’t be with a transwoman, because they don’t really think they are women.

Yes it's depressing isn't it. All these straight men insisting 'trans women are women' would never consider having a romantic relationship with someone who has, or had, a penis.

And it's never 'trans men are men' is it? Where are the gay male allies demanding that? Because similarly, many of them would be horrified about the idea of being with someone who has, or had, a vagina.

Instead of refund I was thinking of damages for loss of enjoyment (of his show), and maybe a nice letter of apology to the SC Justices.

Always thought he was a posh blowhard.

He went to school with Monroe Bergdorf and they are friends so I assume that's where he gets his options from. His wife is similarly captured.

I can’t stand him and his ilk of over-promoted Radio 1 bros, anyway…not at all surprised at his comments or that he knows nothing and cares not a jot about women’s rights.

Nick Cave’s Red Hand Files today had a useful piece of advice that could have been written specifically for the terminally halfwitted Greg James:

“I am disturbed on a fundamental level by the self-serving, toddler politics of some of my counterparts - I do not believe that silence is violence, complicity, or a lack of courage, but rather that silence is often the preferred option when one does not know what they are talking about, or is doubtful, or conflicted - which, for me, is most of the time. I am mainly at ease with not knowing and find this a spiritually and creatively dynamic position. I believe that there are times when it is almost a sacred duty to shut the fuck up.”

Well, as a woman, can I just take this opportunity to say how glad I am that a man has opined on the matter of feminism and that which pertains to women's rights. Thank goodness!
