... & Magpie regularly drains the hot chocolate bowser.

If you understand that, or you're just cool with it, come on in & bagsie a chair by the fire.

That's a rat.

Rat, gerbil, hamster. Who are we to argue, it identifies as a gerbil

ifIwerenotanandroid · 28/09/2025 11:44

Fair enough.

There's less need for opposable thumbs when you have three legs.

😂😂Well spotted. I missed that completely.

I dropped a tub of yogurt while taking it out of the fridge this morning.
Guess what? THE LID STAYED ON!
Life doesn't get any better than that, does it?😁

Obviously JKR had a lie in this morning!

Chersfrozenface · 28/09/2025 15:13

Afternoon each.

I've been away. I managed to beat the labyth... labrat... ear thing sufficiently to go on a booked holiday and had a pretty good time. There were buns, for a start.

I wish a dreadful pox and a vile labyth... labrat... ear thing on Swashy's slimey backsliding gits.

I still want a Grimbut Gerbil motorbike jacket.

Love to you all.

Maud has offered to lend you hers.

You are an xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxs size aren't you?

Welcome back, Cher, I'm so glad you managed to have a nice hols, in spite of the unspeakable unspellable!
You could download the picture of Maud in her GG biker jacket, and replace her face with yours?

And yes, Boily, how lucky I was to have caught JKR napping - possibly literally as it was a Sunday morning - otherwise I'd still be mopping up rogue splashes of yogurt🙄

We had a nice evening last night with the neighbours who live across the road from us. We sat outside, it being a warm but not too warm and pleasant evening, around a firepit stoked with wood, eating picky bits and drinking gins and tonics and gossipping gently about people and things. It was a very Bluestockingy evening, though slightly less weird, I mean unusual, I mean idiosyncratic.

The Walrus took me to dinner by the river and as we're regulars, they gave us free prosecco and our favourite table.

He then bought me a copy of the Observer in print! I didn't know the internet could be printed out! I wonder how they work out which bits to print...

I'm not sure if it will catch on...

The birthday weekend culminates tomorrow on my actual birthday where apparently there will be more prosecco and presents.

You definitely found a good one there, Myrtle. 💙

MarieDeGournay · 28/09/2025 20:36

That sounds like a lovely eve-of-birthday, Myrtle, and more to come tomorrow on the actual day.

So 'Happy BirthdayS' is the appropriate greeting!

It's great that you are far enough along in your recovery to be able to enjoy all these celebrations🍾Smile

Just thought I'd drop in and see how everyone is doing.

FuzzyPuffling · 29/09/2025 07:08

Aw Snowy. I was thinking about you earlier. Have you found a nice spot amongst the snows of Peak Woo?

MarieDeGournay · 29/09/2025 13:09

Happy literal birthday, Myrtle!🌺

Just when I thought life couldn't get better than the lid staying on a dropped tub of yogurt yesterday-

I needed a plumber today , and within 2 hrs I got two plumbers!
Two nice polite young men, who cheerfully moved furniture out of the way to complete the job, without making me feel they were doing me a big favour - which in fact they were. When I was a techie I used to hate it if the thing you came to fix was behind a pile of boxes or something...😠

Polite, helpful, and not in the least condescending to me as an older woman.
My mother would have described them as : 'A credit to their Mammies' Smile

Happy Birf.

I'm happily munching on a bag of Tunnock's Mini Caramel Logs. Lovely with a brew although I do find myself absently chewing on a bit of coconut ages after I thought I'd finished one.

Some deeply buried anxiety is triggering long-conquered dyslexia and I keep reading the thread header as MAUD RESIGNS triggering horrified speculation as to why?

Bannedontherun · 29/09/2025 16:20

@DeanElderberry I am having the same issue and i am not dyslexic.
