ARmy Rumour SErvice.

Yes, sorry, message board for forces and ex forces.

I went and had a look but there wasn't all that much on their 'not about trans' thread.

I just don't think people in respected social roles should be taking their clothes off in public like this. Whether you're a colonel, vicar, professor, KC or whatever. It's just unseemly. Or is that too old-fashioned an attitude nowadays?

Nope, I'll join you.

Things like integrity, honesty, morality, boundaries and a grip are necessary for a functional society, and 'fashion' shouldn't come into it. Progress is supposed to be better and building further, improving things and not making them worse. But this is the whole 'queer' movement for you: smash everything. Not with a plan in mind, just like a tired toddler pushing every button and overturning everything without a brain in gear or capacity for further thought.

So, this really could be something this Colonel has taken and extrapolated out from the Supreme Court ruling?

It will certainly be interesting to follow.

JellySaurus · 26/09/2025 18:03

He took his clothes off to display his bra, as proof of the misogyny that he is appropriating (along with his ‘womanhood’).

FortheloveofPetethePlumber · 26/09/2025 20:08

Intention to shock. Very much not woman-like, particularly a woman who's made it in a male-dominated career. And not the first to use exposure to an audience as part of self expression either.

I think the person giving the speech in their underwear is ridiculous
I also think that spaces in the army should be segregated by sex not gender. If people don't like that/can't cope then they don't need to be in the army.

I am a bit queasy about the framing of all trans people as being untrustworthy because they are "lying". That's because it feels more like a genuinely held belief for some. Catholics aren't untrustworthy because they are lying about wine turning into blood. Hindus aren't lying about reincarnation. The really central point to me is that you can't expect other people to go along with your beliefs (beyond reasonable adjustments). So someone who is trans can't demand other people in the army act as if they believe the same things the trans person does. But I don't like labelling everyone who identified as trans as inherently untrustworthy.
As far as mental health goes, I believe if someone was capable of following the rules above (believe what you want, don't expect other people to) they are likely on the more stable end of the spectrum. That alone should weed out the crazies.

Some men claim they are women for fetishistic reasons and some have developed a serious mental health issue (with various root causes) which causes them to disassociate from their sexed body and wish to castrate themselves and make other serious but cosmetic adjustments.

Neither of those is conducive to being a successful team player in the forces.

I’ve just listened to the speech. He’s got a very deep voice.

When I saw the thread title I thought ‘that sounds good’.

I struggle to see a scenario where the demands and requirements of a trans person would be compatible with life in the forces.

Tallisker · 27/09/2025 10:20

What is it with these men and their bras?

It's the next best thing to flashing their moobs?

lcakethereforeIam · 27/09/2025 11:29

To these misogynists breasts = female. He's got surgical or wrong sex hormone induced lumps on his chest and thereby lies his claim to be a woman. He might also get off on it.

I'm reminded of a picture of a bloke taking part in one of the recent moobs out protests. On the usual tatty bit of cardboard he'd written 'man!?'. Presumably we were to read the sign, look at this delicate, shrinking flower and think 'of course not!'. I suspect while gently wiping away a tear with a snowy white hankerchief at the bravery displayed, the vulnerability. Unfortunately, I thought 'Well, yes. An actual dictionary definition of one too'. I might have wiped away a tear though, possibly several 😂

I think the British Army should have bigger things to worry about than the privileges this bloke wants to claim. Like the actual physical safety of its female soldiers

Revealed: The damning sex dossier the Army tried to bury https://share.google/SwEAgEMymAZEIkLnf

In not caring about his female comrades, in prioritising his selfish wants, this bloke is like too many others in the army.

Treaclewell · 27/09/2025 14:19

If I were in the forces I would want colleagues to be engaged in the action concerned not thinking about their gender representation. I don't imagine women serving are constantly thinking "I'm a woman" when they're supposed to be thinking about their fellows in combat, trusting them and being trusted in turn. Somebody who takes all this time thinking about being stunningly brave in another context, I just wouldn't trust to have my back. But I'm a 79 year old female pacifist so what do I know?

Quite.

It often occurs when listening to a transactivist share their perspective, that once transactivism has entered someone's life there isn't much room left for anyone or anything else.

SinnerBoy · 28/09/2025 15:27

I wonder if he's also said that he can't search female prisoners? Honestly, it was just a self pitying, self indulgent whine. If he wants to self exclude himself from his career, that's his own damned choice and it certainly isn't being forced upon him.

Helleofabore · 28/09/2025 15:59

From reading the article in the OP the MOD seems to be unable to say more than that they are waiting for the final guidance from the EHRC.

There has been so much conflicting information around I wonder if this Colonel really is about to retire and take up activism. Considering their choice of bra.

The conflict in information hasn’t been helped with posters declaring other posters are wrong about single sex provisions still being needed in the different services, while then admitting that there are indeed some single sex provisions needed. It would be great to have the questions answered in detail without the breezy ‘it doesn’t happen’ from posters who seem more keen to limit their answers to exclude those instances when there IS single sex provisions needed, than answering with openness and honesty.

SinnerBoy · 28/09/2025 16:28

sad, not said...

FortheloveofPetethePlumber · 28/09/2025 18:17

When the EHRC guidance does land, I'm looking forward to finding out the next thing we're waiting for before law regarding women's rights is followed.

Godot possibly.

The MOD should absolutely not be waiting for the EHRC guidance. They have plenty of their own legal staff that they could and should be consulting if they don’t understand the law.

Hard agree. They are obviously trying to play it safe and follow the pack.

I confess I haven't been following this thread in detail, so it was quite a while into leafing through the posts that it suddenly clicked -
Good grief, that half-dressed person in that photo in the OP is... a colonel in the British Army! addressing a public event!
A picture is worth a thousand words.

Or one word, 'inappropriate', written thousand times.

As ex military myself.. I am ashamed to see this man, who has suddenly decided to 'transition' near the end of his career, taking over an awards ceremony for his own political views. He was also entered into, as others were that are MALE, into the female awards categories. Sadly if one speaks out, one is punished! NB I hope he is right that the days of the T++ are numbered in the armed services. (Their need for ongoing medical treatment should make them ineligible for one..)

Sorry have not RTT but there’s also the brave and fearless US Admiral Rachel Levine. He was one of the USA Today’s Women of the Year in 2021.

Feeling v glad that my Colonel father (served in ww2) never had to see this!

TiM does strip to cause scandal as they make false claims about sex segregated spaces.

SwirlyGates · 21/02/2026 12:13

My thoughts are that anyone of any sex, sexual orientation or identity, who gives a speech dressed like that is not to be taken seriously.

If you don’t look at the video and just listen to the audiobook his voice is not even vaguely feminine. I know there are women with deep voices, but not like this.
