This case is complicated. There were very big protests at the time, it was a huge news story, and the university were condemned for not supporting the student to complete her course - which was later found to be not the case.
In the end, the uni applied to have the facts of the case made public, because there were all sorts of claims being made about them which turned out not to be true.
It was the student who took the university to court and not vice versa, and the university won, the High Court dismissed all the student's allegations.
The uni were found to have gone out of their way to support her and enable her to catch up with the work she had not submitted, and resit her exams, but she refused.
She initially appealed the High Court decision, but withdrew her appeal.
She was later arrested because some of the documents she submitted to the uni appear to have been fraudulent, she was released, but the case is still being investigated.
The police are still trying to trace the origin of the photos which were circulated a year after the rape, so there's lots of forensics still being done on those.
There are still a lot of unanswered questions, including whether or not the alleged rapist was a medical student who has now graduated, and whether or not there is a 'Doctor Rape' out there.
