Figured it was my turn for once!

Plus this way I beat the rush to the bar.

Now I must return to the previous thread to relocate my Tunnock's secret stash.

Serve yourselves until the bar gerbils arrive.

Well I'm going to grab myself a cheese and pineapple stick and wave it around (in between eating the impaled cheese and fruit, naturally) as I boogie away down the path into the night. Thanks to Maud for letting me gatecrash her party and to everyone for the dancing and the fun. My good humour is restored...

Bannedontherun · 22/08/2025 22:45

I am trying to move my arms about but just looking like I'm pointing at someone !

AlexandraLeaving · 22/08/2025 23:07

I think the chocolate fountain has gone down well. Not sure how long the sugar rush will take to wear off.

Aaaaah, lovely sleep. What did I miss?

oh

I can sleep next to the speaker in a nightclub, so definitely not strange for me to sleep upright!

Age is making me narcoleptic. Now I'm one of those old ladies who conks out in the middle of a show. And I don't just mean soothing classical concerts. I napped out in "Works and Days" in the Festival. I saw them plough up the stage, and the live chicken, and the coloured planks, but I missed the steam engine and the lights. Loud low frequency sound does it.

Kindly bring me a double espresso and a gallon of Red Bull, good gerbils!

Igneococcus · 23/08/2025 08:51

And I don't just mean soothing classical concerts.

You need to listen to Terterian's 3rd symphony, also his 7th, no conking out possible there.

I'll have to wait for a live performance to try the experiment, it doesn't work the same way at home. But I found and enjoyed the first five minutes of the 3rd (not got time to listen to the whole thing yet) and that's exactly the kind of sound that triggers it.

Igneococcus · 23/08/2025 11:45

Wait until the duduks come screeching in. I'd love to hear either one in concert, get the full effect of all those percussions.

MyrtleLion · 23/08/2025 14:54

I have around 60 or so knotted squares, so I decided to make them into Little Hugs - 9 squares for premature babies. I'm going slowly though.

This is the first proper one. I wonder if it needs a border. I decided not to block it, and used safety pins to line up the squares. It definitely needs a press to straighten the curled edges.

I'll make a few more over the next few weeks.

The larger blankets are 60 x 48 inches, single bed sized, which is 10 x 8 squares. I might just make little ones.

Lucky you! I can't sleep unless I have cool air, a cosy blanket and at least three gerbils for company. I also enjoy classical music concerts (rather than listening to recordings). I could perhaps start a side hustle using my spikes to subtly wake people up...

Eeek first spousal argument. I've probably been neglectful reading my books all the time!

BeLemonNow · 23/08/2025 15:38

Eeek my wife is an "oo er" Hertford farmer! She's brought her tracker to the Bluestocking!

DeanElderberry · 23/08/2025 15:44

Myrtle, those squares are amazing. You were having us on with that 'I can't knit' stuff a few weeks ago, obviously.

Weren't you?

I think the recommendation is not to press them which destroys all the textural detail but to roll them tightly in a towel. Someone better qualified than me will know.

That's a great tip, thank you.

I genuinely hadn't knitted in at least 30 years, but I have been knitting every day for about two months, so I think it's practice.

I have got a lot better, and quicker. I actually knitted a square with deliberate eyelets in it yesterday.
