Single sex spaces

I’m confused with single sex spaces and trans people and what people want.

My understanding is everyone must use the single sex space of their biological sex (I might be wrong). This is only spoken about in terms of trans women now having to use men’s toilets, etc. But this means trans men must use women’s toilets. So someone who looks like a man but biologically isn’t but mostly (imo) you can’t really tell with trans men whereas you often can with trans women.

Is this what the majority want? Surely if people are worried about ‘predatory men’ pretending to be a trans woman to use single sex spaces then they could equally claim to be a trans man as you can’t really ask them to prove it can you?

I guess I’m just wondering if I’m missing the point the point? Are the majority happy with this? I’ve seen posts of people being very happy with the ruling but only have spoken about trans women.

I don’t want this to be a trans bashing thread. Just would like to know what people would like to see as their ideal for single sex spaces while still respecting people

Has it occured to you that there are biological females that have a blind vagina? What are you saying is the purpose of a vagina on a female btw?

Is this a serious question?

Why are we taking questions like this seriously?!

no.

What is the "purpose" of a vagina please?

Also there are biologically female people born with a blind vagina and no cervix or uterus. I'm assuming you're typing in the heat of something rather than being intentionally discriminatory to those with medical conditions that cause this and also require them to dilate etc.

What is this purpose you keep going on about?

Why don't you tell me why you think the purpose of a vagina is changed by some female people not having a cervix or uterus?

RedToothBrush · 08/08/2025 16:41

Helleofabore · 08/08/2025 16:36

no.

Quite.

In which case we should ignore this absolute trite which tries to legitimise surgically created cavities in men which are supposed to mimic vaginas.

There isn't much more offensive than suggesting that extreme cosmetic surgery is in any way comparable to a woman and not deeply offensive to all women, including those with genetic defects or who have had necessary surgery.

The blind hole is not even in the same place as a vagina!

I see the post has been deleted at the user's request. I was beginning to wonder if they knew the difference between a vagina and a vulva. And also if genital surgery was entirely about appearances, and not about function. A "vagina" which has never been part of a reproductive system including a cervix and a uterus is certainly not the same as a vagina which has full functionality, and can expand in order to enable a birth.

I suspect they have asked for all their posts to be deleted.

As an aside, a reddit person is threatening to 'publishing something weighty on Mumsnet in the coming days'.

I hope this thread isnt too late to be included. "Exhibit x: women on mn claim that my mangina isnt, in fact, anything like a vagina. How would they know? They're only women, they know nothing of science and biology and facts"

My, how odd.

Is this so they can toddle off saying how persecuted they've been and how they've been banned by evil MN.

I quite like the fact it says "removed on request" rather than deleted.

Is it time for the schools to go back yet? 🙄

oh. Did that one posted in the past day or so also then ask for their posts to be removed after posting?

Or... maybe it was the thread about sex fetishists that got deleted this morning.

I hope they post too. Because if it is 'weighty' then maybe they will have a well thought through point backed up with some evidence, or failing evidence, a sound logical proposition.

You mean it's going to say more than 'look evilness, trans genocide'.

The trans genocide trope on social media is getting ridiculous.

Why don't you tell me why you think the purpose of a vagina is changed by some female people not having a cervix or uterus?

I don't believe the vagina has a "purpose" which is why I'm asking what you think it is. I'm not sure any of our body parts have a "purpose"? I do know that women's body parts when assigned a purpose has usually been inherently misogynistic and sexist so I'm curious to know what yours is ?

I think you are on a proper windup and I'm not indulging it.

Does that answer your question?

If it doesn't tough. Because that's as good as you are getting.

What is the purpose of a leg. You can survive without one.

I'm unsure why it's a wind up to remind you that biological females exist with such conditions and talking about them so offensively is quite rude and ignorant

You don't think a vagina or any other body part has a purpose?

Please go and read some biological books or medical books.

"I do know that women's body parts when assigned a purpose has usually been inherently misogynistic and sexist so I'm curious to know what yours is ?"

I think you are now also mistaking sexism and negative sexist discrimination with factual discussion. There is nothing inherently misogynistic and sexist in understanding female bodies and what they can and cannot do. There is misogyny and sexism inherent in limiting a female person to only ever achieving limited activities and expecting limited behaviours in life.

You thinking that a vagina is just a body part with no function in life is surprising in this day and age though.

It can have a function sure, you said purpose. What's it's purpose?
