To save further derailment of the Sandie Peggie tribunal threads with people debating Tandora's statements on the above theme, I've started this thread to point them to instead.

the mind and the body are part of the same biological system

So where in the biological system is trans?

MissScarletInTheBallroom · 24/07/2025 17:36

Tandora · 24/07/2025 17:16

Nope that's not what I said. I'm a woman with girls, and privacy and safety is important to me.

I have another question about this.

If one of your daughters said that she didn't feel safe getting changed with trans women, or, worse still, was sexually assaulted by one in a women's toilet, would you change your views at all?

Extravirginolive · 24/07/2025 17:36

crazysnakess · 24/07/2025 17:35

So where in the biological system is trans?

30 plus years of research and they're unable to find it.

Mipe · 24/07/2025 17:37

MissScarletInTheBallroom · 24/07/2025 17:25

It doesn't bloody matter, does it?

Women don't need to understand anything in particular about trans people. The only thing we need to understand is our own personal boundaries and legal rights, and how to ensure that those boundaries and rights are respected.

@MissScarletInTheBallroom absolutely, I was just wondering what Tandora thinks we are not getting 😀

Tandora · 24/07/2025 17:39

cloudyblueglass · 24/07/2025 17:33

No.
Medicine recognises that CAIS is a male genetic disorder. Peopld eith two X chromosomes cannot have CAIS - you need a Y chromosome and a faulty X chromosome for CAIS.

The harmful part comes with people such as yourself using DSDs as a tool to try to convince others that sex isn’t really a binary and men can be women if they really wish it so.

Have a good one.

I'm not going to engage with you further on this because it's ridiculous. Women with CAIS are born with XY chromosomes; that does not make it appropriate or acceptable or scientific to say that they are a "male" person.

Extravirginolive · 24/07/2025 17:36

I know. It's baffling.

and yet you can choose the sex of your baby with IVF.

KateShugakIsALegend · 24/07/2025 17:40

KateShugakIsALegend · 24/07/2025 17:33

I'll try again.

I mean a biological underpinning to transness which is tied to broader process of sex development.

@Tandora ?

And that

  • You believe there is extensive research to support this view, but have yet to cite it or provide links. Is this right? Have I missed the links?

If one of your daughters said that she didn't feel safe getting changed with trans women

I would worry about what content she had been consuming online, and I would have a conversation with her about sex/gender/trans people.

So what would you actually say to her?

Specifically if she had been sexually assaulted, which presumably you wouldn't attempt to blame on her internet browsing history.

Baffling to you really? Do you not realise this applies to all kinds of things: being gay, having ASD, having dyslexia, need I go on?

I totally reject the idea that transwomen in changing rooms increases incidents of sexual assault. This is transphobia.

Not gonna lie, I'm disappointed @Tandora

I thought you had something to say

notevencharging · 24/07/2025 17:45

FlirtsWithRhinos · 23/07/2025 00:37

Tandora, the problem is that you don't give coherent or loogical arguments.

I can accept that there can be all sorts of aspects of human self image and identity that we have yet to discover.

The problem is that you then leap to say these things "are" sex/gender in a way that is more real than the simple bodily differences of sex, and based on that to say this means that a male person is somehow no longer physically male.

Without in any way dismissing the fact that what some trans people feel about themselves may be real, the gap for me is in how this somehow means the things that are down to body sex - how people with female bodies are treated, how female bodies are portrayed, and what this does to the development of the humans who grow up within that cultural and physical nexus - no longer matter or are not significant. Because they are significant. They do have consequences for people of female body. And that means people of female body need to be considered as separate to those of male body regardless of how those male people feel or see themselves as the same.

Nailed it. End of discussion 👍🏻

So, if your own daughter was raped in a women only space by a trans woman, you would...what...deny that she had been raped?

Or tell her it's just bad luck and could just as easily have happened if there had not been a person with a penis in the women's toilets?

KateShugakIsALegend · 24/07/2025 17:48

I was really hoping @Tandora that you were going to respond to my attempts to understand your position.

But, you know, blanking just feels like going low.

Yes I believe the Supreme Court judgement has been widely wildly misinterpreted , and that misinterpretation needs urgently to be challenged as a matter of law.

I'm not interested in a broader conversation about who should have the right to use what toilet based on my opinion on that versus yours. It's not an interesting conversation, nor is it useful/ productive when there is still so much misunderstanding and prejudice directed at trans people.

It is interesting, though, isn't it, in this context? And necessary and urgent? We have, to give just one example, bodies like the Corporation of London prevaricating over who should be allowed into a 'Women's Pond' and leaving people hanging while they do.

As the parent of a gay, dyslexic, ASD child (who likely is also ADHD) and identifies as trans I can say with certainty that none of those things allows my child to infringe upon other people’s rights, safety and well-being because they feel like it and want to blame it on XYZ. And I wouldn’t support them if they demanded to be given carte blanche

Auntiebenita · 24/07/2025 17:49

Tandora · 23/07/2025 01:02

Another example of females with a Y chromosome would be women with swyer syndrome.
It’s really hard to get accurate prevalence estimates as such conditions may be hidden/ remain undiagnosed. However , they are certainly rare.
But these are just two specific typologies of DSD- there are loads. And the more we understand about sex development the more variations we discover. I have to go to bed but will try to return in am if people have questions.

DSDs are very rare exceptions. Some unfortunate individuals are born with six fingers on a hand, or a vestigial tail. That doesn’t alter the fact that humans have five fingers on each hand (well, four and a thumb) and no tail.

Your child is not infringing upon anyone rights by being trans and accepted and included as such.

Ok, to summarise, @Tandora and @suggestionsplease1 :

  • You feel that probably most or all (not sure which) trans people have a medical reason for being trans. Is this right?
  • You believe there is extensive research to support this view, but have yet to cite it or provide links. Is this right? Have I missed the links?
  • Is BeLemonNow's summary of your thinking on this point correct (page 27)?
  • You believe that the tiny percentage of people currently diagnosed with DSD fall within this group (see above) of trans people (or do you think they are a separate group?)

Please correct my understanding if incorrect.

Now here's the thing:

  • why does any of the above mean that this small percentage of trans women (men at birth) have a right to be in a space for women if women don't want them there?

Where in the biological system is trans, and why is a belief/feeling (which I'm going to assume you agree is caused by a series of neurones firing in the brain and nervous system) more important than the sexed body?

We separate women and men to help women avoid sexual assault and therefore unwanted pregnancy.

Given that transwomen can and have caused unwanted pregnancies, why should they be allowed in female only spaces?

Seconded, and many thanks for picking up my post.

I'm not sure I've ever had a more unhelpful response to a post than that's it's "unhelpful" and "no".

This is resembling an X spat about the usual disagreements. Changing rooms, sexual predators etc etc

Right off to do something else 🤷‍♀️
