The Bluestocking - holding the line and losing the thread

All women welcome, pull up a pygmy hog, the bargerbil will serve you a drink, the flying squirrels will bring you something to read and the goats will do...I'm not entirely sure.

There may be more than the usual amount of chaos as we transition to the new thread.

@MarieDeGournay I bought some railway figures during Covid, for an art project, & no women were in bikinis! They were quite decently clothed & carrying bags, etc. Don't know what scale they were though.

Looking at Irish ebay for 0 guage, I found these (pic 1), which aren't terribly 'Bluestocking'😂, while these (pic 2) are madder than anything I've seen at the Staunch Ally😳. No, I've thought better of pic 2, as I don't want MN after me.

Oh I'm definitely a figment of your imagination.

Our wedding, honeymoon, and divorce within 24 hours (that was the Grimbuts threads wasn't it? Not the Bluestocking? Werent we already divorced by the Bluestocking? It's all merging into one in my head, probably because the gerbils came along for the ride) and the fact I've still not moved my Tunnocks wrapper collection out of your spare room are unfortunately true!

I think we tied the knot & got divorced all on MN. Devastated that you've forgotten, but then IIRC you were very, very drunk at the time.

Bannedontherun · 20/07/2025 20:16

I seem to recall strawberries at the wedding

ifIwerenotanandroid · 20/07/2025 20:19

OMG I just checked & our first anniversary was a few days ago! And you're right, it was on the Aston Uni & gerbil merch thread.

It was good while it lasted. Happy (very short) anniversary, my ex.

Really? I thought Boily's relatives turned out to be potatoes, but that may be a sign that I was also very, very drunk at the time.

Tomatoes! I think!

Android wore a beautiful dress covered in tomatoes. Give her a few more drinks and she'll show you the wedding and honeymoon photos.

The break up ones aren't pretty though.

Some of them are potato weevils, but I don't have much to do with that branch of the family.

Bannedontherun · 20/07/2025 20:28

Oh yes tomatoes.

That was a hell of a thread: our wedding, Star Trek, some suffragette gerbils throwing tomatoes at a linguist's lecture & then everybody was writing in runes.

I started a post a while ago and it's like one of those volcanic islands - it disappeared when I went back a page to check POW's full name.

Then I wrote another one, cleverly- I thought - copying what I had written before going back a page, but it wouldn't copy so it was lost too.

I've just seen the first one again, briefly, but it has disappeared again.

So to summarise from memory: welcome POW, welcome back from what sounds like a lovely if tiring weekend; Banned, a model with roadworks, Boily? how fascinating! etc.

Thank you v much for looking for figures on Irish eBay, AndroidSmile

That's a nice set, a nice range of shapes and sizes and poses, and quite nicely painted. Not what I need for the Stocking though.
I acknowledge that there are often women-with-shopping-bags etc in the sets of 'passengers' sets.
It's the single, less mass produced ones which seem to have women with clothes on😠

Now I'm going to post this before it disappears!

Bannedontherun · 20/07/2025 21:58

I missed the wedding in real time and it was a divorce by the time i logged in. I was so overwhelmed with elation joy and grief all at the same time that i resolved to transition to a hedgehog at some point in the future to avoid any such situation.

Of course there was the added attraction of being featured more in AI and such like…..

Why are lots of those figures manspreading?

I coveted the model for about 12 months, it was in the window of a jewellers that i would pass on my way into town and on my way back but it cost two months mortgage payments at the time so all I could do was look.

Then the shop had a closing down sale and they knocked 50% off. One months mortgage payment wasn't too bad, I could justify that.

Here it is in all it's glory.

Glad it wasn't just me that noticed the manspreading, especially the women(?) in the blue dress and the one on the bottom row. The guy on the top row in the green pants seems to be intimidating the young woman in the red dress.

The workman is forever drilling ... or something ... the schoolboy never ages a single day ... the digger is shiny and clean for ever ... the traffic cones keep the curious onlookers at bay ... the woman looks mildly unimpressed until the end of Time itself.

Marvellous.

I have finally caught up in the Sandie Peggie thread and now so can go to sleep.

Sandie must be exhausted. I am just reading about it!

What are you saying in Ogham, Dean?

I'm saying "UP TIPP", a reflection on the all Ireland hurling final. Which Tipp won.
