It's so irritating that women still have to crowd fund for shit like this when we already know that the outcome is a foregone conclusion because they are in direct contravention of the Supreme Court judgment.

Why can't they just obey the law?

I thought JK Rowling was giving them all they money they needed. So why is there crowdfund after crowdfund?

That's the sound of the point whooshing over your head.

No private citizen should have to donate their own money to enforce women's sex based rights now the Supreme Court has clarified that trans women are not women.

Who do these fuck heads think they are, just continuing to ignore the law because they personally disagree with it?

They should be personally fined and barred from holding similar positions of responsibility in future.

And thanks for the reminder @Christinapple, I already donate to Sex Matters monthly, but I've just donated to this crowd finder, just because I can (and it will annoy you which is an added bonus!)

You thinking things don’t make them true, you know.

Many of us are willing to forego small comforts and treats for ourselves in order to fund the defence of our right to safety, privacy and dignity. It wasn’t what I expected to have to do after state pension age and many years of putting up with bullshit from entitled men but here I am.

Davros · 14/07/2025 18:26

@TheAutumnCrow it would be ManFriday3
I put my real name on any donations I make. I don’t always share them but I don’t hide my name either

giuspeace · 14/07/2025 18:42

Donated - keep going Sex Matters.

So by their newly stated logic, if the pressure group again attempted to access the men’s pond then CoL wouldn’t call the police this time. Because they don’t define ‘men’ by sex either.

Wouldn't that be worth another go? Anyone care to bet against the CoL calling the police again if they did?

I'd be up for this.

Londonmummy66 · 14/07/2025 18:53

Also it would no doubt be helpful to have a manfriday before the case goes to court to highlight that the men's pond is not for women no matter how they choose to identify so they are clearly discriminating against women in letting TW into the ladies' pond

The only difference is that JK Rowling can donate more than most other women can.

Although if they did might they deliberately not involve the police this time, to 'neutralise' the point of Man Friday and just make them look like troublemakers shouting into the wind?

Pleasealexa · 14/07/2025 19:25

Donated, very tired of the law breakers.

corlan · 14/07/2025 20:13

Donated.
The City of London has a bad record on oppression - the slave trade and the plantation of Ireland spring to mind. It's a shame that in 2025 they have to be taken to court over the opression of women.

WithSilverBells · 14/07/2025 21:26

Bump

GoldThumb · 14/07/2025 21:33

I thought reliance on the equality act exemptions was the only way you can have ‘same x’ anything

Do you put your real name and address on those donations? I know the gift aid needs it… but do you choose to skip the gift aid?

Yes always do. Why wouldnt you?

moto748e · 14/07/2025 22:10

It's surely not hard to understand that some people might not feel comfortable doing so.

Davros · 14/07/2025 22:26

There has been a ManFriday “visit” since the SC ruling so it has been tested. They got chucked out by security and I think the Police were called

Indeed. Jo Bartosch reported on it.

That’s a great question for the Good Law Project.

Have tried you asking Jolyon Maugham where all the GLP crowdfunded money has gone and what it has actually achieved? It seems to have reached £445,000 now?

Keenovay · 14/07/2025 23:33

Donated...but pissed that whoever is supposed to implement the laws of the land isn't doing their job. The circular argument of the City of London authority is cynical. They are just dragging their heels and buying time to see which way the wind blows ("reviewing our access policies"; "engaging with service users"). I expect if it comes to court, they'll argue that staff can't be expected to do "genital inspections"...

I was touched by this Spectator article from last year in which the author reminisces, "It was one of the first places my parents let me go on my own or with school friends because they knew it was safe." How many parents could have that confidence with the current arrangement?

I've been involved in many women only events and spaces in my life, and their foundation was this basic sense of safety, from which all sorts of other good stuff could flow. I feel sad young women today don't seem to be allowed to set up or experience women only spaces without this immediately being challenged. Good luck to Sex Matters!

How the culture war came for Kenwood Ladies’ Pond

‘Not another step!’ The large women in an old T shirt stretched across her bulging shoulders glared at my father. We were standing under a canopy of trees on Hampstead Heath in north London. Sunshine dappled through the leaves onto my face. I was 12 ye...
