Apparently, in addition to him being the "true victim" in the BBC's investigation (see his statement of yesterday on Instagram where "nothing was done to investigate my disability" or "protect me from...a dangerous environment"), his "friends" now claim that incidents such as him opening doors with a sock on his penis while he shouted "hooray" were due to his autism which, in turn, meant he couldn't wear underwear.

I have no words other than to say I know quite a few autistic people. Not one of them behaves as, or uses autism to excuse being, a sex pest.

Whoever is doing his crisis PR has really pulled out all the stops.

Gregg Wallace’s autism means he can’t wear underwear, say friends

Sources close to ex-MasterChef presenter claim he has ‘hypersensitivity’ to tight clothing and his condition is partly to blame for his inappropriate behaviour

Not goning to lie, I think that all that crap got blown WAAAYYYYYYY ot of proportion.
I work in a very male dominated industry, sometimes with much crudeness and litteral dick swinging. - and if i let cocks on show bother me, i'd never get anything done.

Is it questionable behaviour on his part yes - is it worth destorying his life and career over? No.

christ alive - its just a penis. 50% of the population have them. It is literally just and appendage, that some people put too much emphasis on.

Also, its kind of hypocritical really when you think about it. We criticize men for getting their dicks out. but no man would ever go running to HR if we got our boobs out?????

That's nice.

50% of the population don't want to see them in the workplace though.

Fine if it's by mutual consent outside work or you are literally handling it for medical reasons.

It's 'just a penis' isn't legally a defense if you are being prosecuted for indecent exposure.

This can't be a serious post...

I genuinely feel that this was blown out of proportion.
Christ alive, or are the younger generation really that bloody sensitive that they cant handle this sort of thing?
usually i agree with the reactions to this sort of thing. But this? So bloody what, It was a little uncouth, but then so are a lot of men. And i'd still choose any day to work onsite with dick swinging in the breeze - Men are way more straight forward to work with in my experiance - and i've been site based for the last 15 years - Even with the levels of man - behaviour i deal with on a weekly basis I would still choose that, to working in female dominated offices again, when the bitch factor is off the scale, and everyone spends their time silently or not so silently judging everyone else. That environemtn gave me anxiety and depression. Site based - haven't really had any such issues since

I was seriously tempted to say "is that you, Gregg?"

RainbowZebraWarrior · 16/07/2025 14:49

The thing with Torode is, he's just demonstrated utter arrogance by saying he had no recollection of that racist incident (and the whole fallout of apparently being asked to leave and blame his MH)

It's not the kind of thing you forget. You either take the blame and admit it or you say it categorically didn't happen. Except he couldn't could he, because it obviously did happen, hence he was sacked shortly after he 'couldn't recollect'. So that makes him an entitled arrogant arse too. Hardly surprising when you think about the culture and what was 'acceptable'.

Yes I don't like Torode either and never have. I think they are / were both insufferable arseoles who's egos became so inflated after being allowed to dominate a high profile programme for so long. From the off, to me, they were both dislikable and I've no idea how they ever made it as front men, never mind how they reigned for so bloody long.

As I said yesterday, time to completely reformat (as well as foster a new, non toxic, non male enabling culture)

Melanie Jappy was the producer when I did it. She was an ex contestant herself and brilliant at her job. I'd love to see her back!

I’m in my 40’s so no longer classed as the ‘younger generation’ but I firmly believe that everyone should be able to go work and be protected from sexual harassment. I also recognise the issues that come with an older, powerful man subjecting younger and/or less powerful women to sexual harassment.
We should be getting men to behave better rather than expecting women to toughen up.

Getting your dick out in public and at WORK is not ‘uncouth’. It’s inappropriate sexual conduct which deserves to get you sacked.

Have to say I think them suggesting he leave and blame MH is extremely believable. More believable than his "I don't recall" about the incident.

I think it's possible for him to be a total arsehole who's been there far too long and for him to be shabbily treated by execs doing damage limitation necessitated by Wallace's antics.

But yes, I agree. Give the show a rest, strip it down, reformulate it, relaunch with new people and a new style.

SinnerBoy · 16/07/2025 22:03

50% of the population don't want to see them in the workplace though.

Make that 99.7% - the remainder being the abusive perverts who don't know what a fucking zip is for.

This can't be a serious post...

It reads like quite clever parody of something some random bloke in a pub somewhere was overheard saying.
Well done TheDearOtter, you obviously have an ear for the absurd😄

BezMills · 17/07/2025 06:26

He's lucky he's not up before the beak for indecent exposure.

A day in the life of Greg, from the Telegraph. Enjoy.

https://archive.ph/yIHiX

This always reminded me of Alan Partridge, especially the series where he has a younger Eastern European partner, Sonja.

Half expected him to say "She's 14 years younger than me ... Back of the net!!"

I don't think Alan was a sex pest though.

MixedFeelingsNoFeelings · 17/07/2025 09:32

I agree with @RainbowZebraWarrior that behind every sleazy BBC "talent" there's an enabling culture of management that sticks its fingers in its ears to reports and protests. And if the protests persist, turns on the protester.

Wallace is the latest in a long line of wrong'uns from Jimmy Savile, to Rolf Harris, John Peel, Martin Bashir, Huw Edwards, Tim Westwood, Russell Brand (egged on by Jonathon Ross) - and they're just ones I can think of off the top of my head.

Other channels are available in this regard, of course. Think Brand (again) and Schofield.

The difference is that the BBC sees itself as a National Treasure whose reputation must be protected at all costs. And usually makes a right ham-fisted job of doing so.
