Apparently, in addition to him being the "true victim" in the BBC's investigation (see his statement of yesterday on Instagram where "nothing was done to investigate my disability" or "protect me from...a dangerous environment"), his "friends" now claim that incidents such as him opening doors with a sock on his penis while he shouted "hooray" were due to his autism which, in turn, meant he couldn't wear underwear.

I have no words other than to say I know quite a few autistic people. Not one of them behaves as, or uses autism to excuse being, a sex pest.

Whoever is doing his crisis PR has really pulled out all the stops.

Gregg Wallace’s autism means he can’t wear underwear, say friends

Sources close to ex-MasterChef presenter claim he has ‘hypersensitivity’ to tight clothing and his condition is partly to blame for his inappropriate behaviour

Interesting that he apparently received formal warnings in both 2018 and 2019 and didn't learn from it. If that was down to his alleged autism, and he didn't bother to have any investigations done or to get any advice, why does he think his employers have done it all for him? He can't claim that his autism deprived him of the power of rational thought, otherwise he couldn't have done the job at all.

'both of us able to appreciate those simple, natural pleasures – the wind on your face, the hand on your arse..'
Brilliant piece of sustained satire, Marina Hyde😂

Did she use "my struggle" in that article on purpose?

MarieDeGournay · 14/07/2025 10:10

Just seen the news - 45 accusations against GW have been upheld = more than half of the accusations.

CompleteGinasaur · 14/07/2025 10:52

No doubt the People's Predator will be along any minute to claim that being found guilty in only about half of the cases means he's practically innocent. The thing that annoyed me about the BBC report/investigation was the bit where they went along with his vicious autism "defence" - "the findings should be viewed in the context of his neurodiversity". Some characteristics are clearly more protected than others at good old Auntie Lydia.

SionnachRuadh · 14/07/2025 12:34

The production company behind the show was found to have provided little or no formal training or clear escalation procedures to manage complaints prior to 2016, with incidents often handled informally and on a case-by-case basis.

The BBC was also found to lack any centrally held information at the time.

Hmm. It's one thing for small production companies to have inadequate processes, but they're contracted by the BBC. This would imply that the BBC, well after Savile, was taking an approach of "nothing to do with us guv" if the show was externally produced.

See also the stories that have come out about Doctor Who.

Still blaming autism and the BBC, but also being a working-class man now:

“None of the serious allegations against me were upheld. I challenged the remaining issue of unwanted touching but have had to accept a difference in perception, and I am deeply sorry for any distress caused. It was never intended.”....
“This has been brutal. For a working-class man with a direct manner, modern broadcasting has become a dangerous place. I was the headline this time. But I won’t be the last.”
“There will be more casualties if the BBC continues down this path, where protecting its legacy matters more than protecting people. For my part, with full legal support, I will consider my next move.”

CompleteGinasaur · 14/07/2025 17:50

I'm a working-class lesbian, but I've never felt the urge to put my hands on another woman without explicit, indeed enthusiastic, consent, or verbally harass her, or indecently expose myself in front of her. (Not even in a Ladies' toilet, despite what a lot of trans activists seem to think..).

Is there some sort of excuse guide book, didn't Huw Edwards use not going to Oxford university as some kind of mitigating circumstance...?

Yup.

Whereas Autistic working class women who didn't go to Oxford like myself (and many others) still manage to not be creepy pervs.

Some men are just utterly despicable entitled arseholes.

It seem there is indeed....

https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-14905743/BBC-John-Torode-resign-blame-mental-health-racism.html

John Torode was asked to resign from MasterChef by the BBC and blame mental health after he was accused of misconduct, it has been claimed.
Gregg Wallace's co-presenter last night said an allegation of using racist language had been upheld against him - but he denied all wrongdoing.

It has now emerged Mr Torode reportedly refused to quit when urged to stand down over the weekend.

A source told The Sun the MasterChef star, 59, was asked by the BBC and production company Banijay to pretend he had mental health issues.

Oh dear. This doesn't end well for the BBC.

Well, it's what you've been waiting for. He's started a life coaching business. You can be just like him for £200 pm. So forget the slim jabs and divert your dosh to Greg.

Please tell me this is a wind up 😭

Has anyone seen if the exec summary of the actual report is available publicly yet. Not just newspaper reports and the Banijay statement?

You're lesbianing all wrong. Have you asked Reddit for advice?

CompleteGinasaur · 15/07/2025 10:58

You're absolutely right, @Beowulfa, I really should go along and learn how the girls do it now. But it's difficult for this old lesbian feminist because I've had the same viciously cropped haircut for about the last thirty years, and I haven't worn a skirt (not even one that go spinny!) since my sister's wedding in 1984 (God, the things you have to do to keep your mother happy..). Likewise, learning how to apply inch-thick make-up, photoshop myself unrecognisable and perfect my winsome head tilt...just can't do it, I'm afraid, my neck refuses to bend that way. Plus, you know, the whole knowing what constitutes actual feminism rather than the steaming pile of pathetic pandering dogshit that the libfems have turned it into.. well, let's just say that all that and my conspicuous lack of a girl penis means I'll never get into the proper lesbian club again.

Thanks for trying but not working with a free account. How frustrating!

Him not being able to wear underwear must be the same reason why Prince Andrew can't sweat. 🤔

murasaki · 11/07/2025 13:11

Brilliant. And the Daily Mail article she links to is revealing about his latest failed marriage (no. 4). He led her a right merry dance by the sound of it.

Also this:

"He suffered a particularly dysfunctional childhood that saw him drop out of school at 14 when his parents divorced after years of nasty rows and he discovered his real father was his mother’s lover, not his dad at all. ‘I was angry with my parents, I was going through absolute hell. It felt like suddenly no one seemed to care."

Pop psychology would say he's been making women pay for it ever since.

RainbowZebraWarrior · 15/07/2025 13:17

@MixedFeelingsNoFeelings I can't find the DM article you referred to. Could you link please? I'm assuming you mean the latest (young) wife? I did go a googling, but had the misfortune to happen across their OK wedding photo of them cutting the cake. He looks like the father of the bride next to her! 🤮

deadpan · 15/07/2025 13:34

The whole TV environment has failed women. Obviously Saville, but long before Wallace there was Chris Evans dropping his pants on TFI Friday and John Barrowman doing the same on the Dr Who set. Laughed along by Catherine Tate and David Tennant. Then there's Russell Brand, after allegations and complaints made to Channel Four, he was invited on Stand up to Cancer Bake Off. It's rife and it isn't banter.
If you can't do it in another work setting it shouldn't be ok to do it on a set.

RainbowZebraWarrior · 15/07/2025 14:10

Yes, the industry is utterly riddled @deadpan It seems to attract bad sorts, but also the deeply ingrained culture of "Oh that's just what he's like, don't mind him" You absolutely would not get that anywhere else - at that level - these days.

I used to think that being a chef was a nightmare as there seemed to be no rules about your boss not shouting in your face that you were a fucking cunt, but at least it's not as riddled with predatory men that are excused time and time again with the wave of a hand.
