Apparently, in addition to him being the "true victim" in the BBC's investigation (see his statement of yesterday on Instagram where "nothing was done to investigate my disability" or "protect me from...a dangerous environment"), his "friends" now claim that incidents such as him opening doors with a sock on his penis while he shouted "hooray" were due to his autism which, in turn, meant he couldn't wear underwear.

I have no words other than to say I know quite a few autistic people. Not one of them behaves as, or uses autism to excuse being, a sex pest.

Whoever is doing his crisis PR has really pulled out all the stops.

Gregg Wallace’s autism means he can’t wear underwear, say friends

Sources close to ex-MasterChef presenter claim he has ‘hypersensitivity’ to tight clothing and his condition is partly to blame for his inappropriate behaviour

I don't know the ins and outs of the accusations, I'll be honest.

But I do think there is a culture of hunting down men on TV for behaviour that once was considered 'ok' (over flirtatious behaviour towards females guests/sexist 'banter' for example) and publicly witch-hunting them and judging them by today's standards.

Today, we (thank god ) know better and women are treated far more equal and it's now socially unacceptable to paw at women on TV and treat them like some kind of pretty little dolly that's good for groping and treating like they have an IQ of 30.

But there is balance. I think when behaviour is historic we have to be careful about whether the public frenzy and blood thirstiness strikes the balance over the actual alleged 'crime'.

I call bullshit.

A year or two ago someone used a penis to play the piano live on air.
Outrageously done on purpose.
Definitely not acceptable.
That's going to come back to bite them.
It is insulting to the past to say it was maybe acceptable.

This isn't any different.
There is no age where an outed socked cock was acceptable.

Embarrassed people giggling means they know they are part of your fetish without their permission. They are trapped in it. That organisations allow nonsense is testament to which majority holds power, the perverts get the upper hand once in a while.
Doesn't mean it was ever acceptable.

SidewaysOtter · 10/07/2025 07:28

But what happened at the time ? Was he reported immediately? Was it voiced very clearly that it wasn't funny and was unacceptable?

Aside from the victim blaming aspect of this, which has been addressed above, my understanding from what I’ve read previously about these allegations is that he was spoken to about his behaviour at least once and he didn’t change.

Did his autism mean he’d suddenly stopped understanding words? Is he high functioning enough not to know/suspect he had autism and function as a TV presenter but his autism is also profound enough to affect his ability to understand what he was doing?

Somehow I doubt it.

I didn’t think my level of ick when it comes to GW could be raised, but I was wrong.

GW commando? Noooooooooooooooo!

@BarbieBrightSide
I think you found the one I was on about. I remember the guy being rich. Believe it or not I think the guy got off with it. I remember being utterly outraged at the time. I seem to remember the judge being very understanding and saying something like "perfectly understandable", or maybe that's the outrage I felt at the time making stuff up.

Internaut · 10/07/2025 09:10

He was able to control himself when the cameras were on. That basically strips this entire excuse of any credibility whatsoever.

Coffeeishot · 10/07/2025 09:14

zanahoria · 09/07/2025 22:50

He is upset that the BBC is not a safe space for his cock

Oh 😂😂 I know this is a serious subject and he is a terrible man but this made me laugh and just sums it up.

That story is outrageous and unbelievable , and I can't understand how that would be taken seriously.
Stories like this just underline why so many women would not bother reporting rape (let alone other sexual offences) if it's this easy to get off.

Edited

Don't take my shakey memories as gospel please. I could well be remembering wrong.
I'm sure because of the right guy bit that @BarbieBrightSide got the correct source/story. Research it rather than rely on my memories.

I really hope that repulsive piano playing performance will come back to bite him one day but unfortunately he seemed to be celebrated for it rather than condemned.

Yes, I think it was seen as "progressive" and "celebrating fetishes diversity" or some such. So brave and stunning Hmm

I’m autistic and have been answering the door with socks hanging off my bare nipples and a glove shoved up my arse crack.

Is that not the done thing? I can’t believe no one ever told me this.

Thankfully Greggggggg only made his totally innocent social faux pas around women. His is the type of autism that makes him accidentally act like a sexual predator. Weirdly though, only seems to affect autistic men like Greggggg, not autistic women. Poor love.

Exactly Spider! Poor Greggggg.

Screamingabdabz · 09/07/2025 23:05

What a cunt he is.

Feel sorry for his dimbo teenager wife who clearly backed the wrong horse. She always looks so unhappy in pictures, like a hostage.

Yep and now hiding behind some sort of diagnosis. Arrogant, entitled wanker

CrackingOn50 · 10/07/2025 11:29

Think it's time to share this marvellous tweet again:

It did attach it takes a minute now because its. Verified anyway
extra G 😀

Throwingitallaway24 · 10/07/2025 11:46

Is this why he seems to speak about his own autistic son with such contempt every time I read an interview?

Iloveeverycat · 10/07/2025 11:47

Was he reported immediately?
One lady that was on the news the other day said when she reported it straight away about him dropping his trousers in front of her they said you are over 16 it's not like you were Jimmy Savilled.

Not many things make me genuinely lol on here, but this does😂

Phoebesparrow · 10/07/2025 12:07

I know a family who have 3 children (boy,girl,boy)

Both boys are autistic (one is 'very' autistic(hes 17),he will never live independently and the other 'mildly' autistic, with a lot of support,he may be ok to live independently when older (hes 8)-if I've explained that wrongly,I'm sorry,im trying to set the picture without offending anyone)

Both boys wouldn't dream of getting their genitals out and waving them about in front of anyone, they are autistic not sex offenders and even the 8 year old knows it's wrong, even at his young age (in fact he's very coy about his body, bless him)

GregG is what?60+ and doesn't have a clue about how to behave in front of women because he claims to be autistic? (But oddly knows how to behave in front of other men)

I was once sexually assaulted at work, and when the police (finally) pulled their fingers out of their arses (after a lot of me pushing them to do it) and had a word with Mr Sex Offender, the first words out of his mouth where 'I have bipolar,I didn't know it was wrong'

'OK mate,we won't take it further' (case closed) He wasn't bipolar at all-he was another gregG wallace-he knew he was wrong but it was my fault for standing where I was at the time,he 'couldnt' control himself (unlike every other man in the building at the time) and I was to blame for him ramming his hard cock into my back while his hand crawled up my top

Autism is the new bipolar,I said the other day to dp 'give it a few more years and these sex pests will find another excuse'

He can't see he's just a fucking sex pest who needs to grow up and see women as human being rather than sex objects

Catiette · 10/07/2025 12:11

SquishedMallow · 10/07/2025 00:19

See, any alternative viewpoint is met with these extreme accusations "victim blamer" .

Why do you do that ? It just shuts down any balance. I've explained exactly my view point in my above post and nowhere in it have I said it's the women's fault for his behaviour.

I'm not going to spend the next 5 pages pretzling myself to prove I don't think women are the problem. I'm not defending what I didn't say.

You can now name call me, make goady accusations to make me reply and all the rest of it . But I'm leaving my opinion up as it is just as valid as yours.

I can see what you're saying, and think in some instances it's relevant.

But I'd also say you're being a little disingenuous here. "Tittering along" is, frankly, demeaning and judgemental - and it's also overly simplistic.

I've often witnessed women and girls "tittering along" as a "fawn" defence mechanism - or simply because they knew they wouldn't be supported in any other response. I've done it myself for the same reason.

It's as if, over time - very, very slowly - the societal straitjacket that's pressured women to think they're crazy to "make a fuss" about such behaviour is being loosened, allowing us to understand it more fully.

It's not always hypocrisy to perceive things differently over time - rather, you suddenly recognise what you previously could only sense.

And of course some will take advantage, as you say - there's always some who will.

But I think the default here should be to listen to the potential victim. Not a 50:50 "alternative viewpoint", but a respectful readiness to believe.

Catiette · 10/07/2025 12:26

To be honest, having read the full thread now and filled in some gaps, my response above was far too gentle.

What an awful, awful, awful man. And what a long way we still have to go.

I really think most men don't realise what an impact comments and behaviours like these have on us. The fear and humiliation. The way they shape how you feel about your body, your behaviour, your movement. They stay with you, for life.

The impact is immense. Because of the power differential and latent threat.

Because each instance adds up to create an overwhelming cumulative impression of your utter vulnerability to 50% of the people you'll encounter and interact with for the rest of your life - of how they may be seeing you and thinking of you. Of what they may choose to do to you.

Or maybe many do realise, which is a worse thought.

I'm not happy with this post, either - many so-called liberal feminists may resent its presentation of women as vulnerable. But I do think if there was greater appreciation of this, we'd get more of the good guys fighting our cause and taking sexist "banter" more seriously. I mean, who accepts racist banter now? Able-ist banter? There's a recognition of vulnerability there that isn't dismissive or diminishing. It's just become accepted as Wrong.

RainbowZebraWarrior · 10/07/2025 12:32

I absolutely fucking despise this utter waste of space of a man.

As an Autistic woman, funnily enough I don't go around indecently exposing myself then blaming my disability for it. But then, it's never women who do this, is it?

He's a predator. He has absolutely no self awareness and he deploys classic DARVO tactics.

Oh. And it's on you, Gregg, to 'investigate your disability' I think you will find, however, that as well as being Autistic, you are an utter arsehole and that's all on you, mate.

SerafinasGoose · 10/07/2025 12:49

zanahoria · 09/07/2025 22:50

He is upset that the BBC is not a safe space for his cock

No wonder that's come as a shock. After all these years of behaving like this with impunity, the poor darlings mustn't know what's hit them.

(And as ever, the first post has it)!

RainbowZebraWarrior · 10/07/2025 12:52

Oh, and just to add a couple of things;

I appeared on Masterchef in 2001. I loved the programme and watched it all through the Loyd Grossman era (and the year Gary Rhodes did it which was the year I was on) I have never watched it since he and Torode took over. I can't explain the visceral reaction I got from him.

Also, I have major issues with traditional underwear as I can't stand the seams ampng other things. I do wear cycling shorts underneath my clothes if I have medical appointments or times where I will be required to change my clothing in front of others.

He's so fucking offensive.

RedToothBrush · 10/07/2025 19:02

The interview he did about a typical day in the life of Gregg Wallace and how he treated his wife was revealing (what number wife is she?)

Once again autistism can't be blamed for that and there was a backlash about the comments but he didn't seem to see them when it is pointed out.

As pp pointed out, he WAS talked to and he chose to ignore that. And there were incidents after that.

His attitude since has first been to blame women of a certain age. Then to blame his autism. At no point has he said 'yes I was wrong, I'm sorry'.
