Munroe Bergdorf on the BBC

Article by Gareth Roberts. I always chuckle at his articles even when the subject matter makes my blood boil.

This section sums it up

Bergdorf goes on. And on. And on. ‘We are constantly told that trans people are an abomination, that we shouldn’t even be friends with trans people, that you shouldn’t employ trans people,’ Bergdorf says, speaking from an alternative universe where that is actually happening.
Who exactly is ‘constantly telling’ us this? Who is saying we shouldn’t be friends with trans people? And which companies have said they won’t give them a job? There aren’t any, because if there were, they’d soon find themselves in court.

The BBC lets lies like this go completely unchallenged, they've completely lost the plot frankly.

Why is the BBC so obsessed with Munroe Bergdorf?

Munroe Bergdorf's appearance on the ‘How To Be In Love’ podcast series discussion on iPlayer marks a new, desperate low

Gareth is spot on as always

nauticant · 02/07/2025 10:22

To be fair there's no way I'd employ Bergdorf.

BettyBooper · 02/07/2025 10:24

What will it take for the BBC to read the room??!

KeepTalkingBeth · 02/07/2025 10:25

Is Munroe Bergdorf the person that calls lesbians "barren hairy dykes"?

Yes. Charming huh?

So, MB has male genitals, and first true love was a TW. I'm not normally one to take a prurient interest in people's sex lives, but .... how is that not just a gay relationship between two men?

I don't think MB likes women, in any sense.

Among other things, yes.

Ahh, more female appropriation…. Lovely!

Ah, cross post with Nauticant!

Silentstarsgoby · 02/07/2025 10:44

MB is appearing at Edinburgh book festival too - the blurb says 'Covering everything from beauty standards to cancel culture, Bergdorf is here to guide us towards speaking our truths.' Shame they can't also give a platform to some of those pesky women who also spoke their truths such as Jenny Lindsay.

SternJoyousBee · 02/07/2025 10:49

Wonder if WH Nuala would do her version of ‘balance’ if she had Munroe on as a guest? 🤔

I suspect you are right.

Sorry, but I just can't get past 'Lesbians look like Justin Bieber' as an insult.
When I was a young dyke-about-town, looking like Justin Bieber would have been a distinct advantage😄
Not so much looking like JB now though😕

Particularly as the key theme for this year's Book Festival is 'Repair'. All the poets and writers in Scotland who have faced cancellation and ostracization by the Scottish literary world should have been invited. But no, they invite Munro 'lesbians are hairy dykes' Bergdorf and Nicola 'broom cupboard video' Sturgeon.

Might have something to do with this -

Edinburgh Book Festival hire Nicola Sturgeon aide and net £300k of public cash

The literary event recently employed Liz Lloyd, who was the former First Minister's loyal servant for a decade, as a director and Nicola Sturgeon is one of the headline acts.

FlirtsWithRhinos · 02/07/2025 11:24

The truth is that MB is projecting his own disordered beliefs about what sort of personality is allowable for men and for women onto the outside world. Outside his own head MB is no closer to being a woman than any other man is. He neither knows nor cares what matters to women because the personal construction of womanhood he inhabits has nothing to do with the reality of women, and in fact he clearly despises female people for failing to live up it.

OdeToRoy · 02/07/2025 11:37

MB was recently on Loose Women and was unchallenged on anything. It’s depressing to see the BBC has pretty much the same level of journalistic rigour as Loose Women.

Munroe Bergdorf, by contrast, received a six-figure sum for Transitional, which sold fewer than 3,000 copies in the UK.

That was in the SEEN Publishing report. How has MB got another book deal? Unless it was a two-book deal to start with?

FateAmenableToChange · 02/07/2025 11:59

The grift is strong with these guys, and they need to keep up the victim narrative in order to keep profiting from their identity.

Honestly that quote, does anybody still take that kind of stuff seriously?

Who is saying we shouldn’t be friends with trans people? And which companies have said they won’t give them a job

OK, but let’s be honest and admit that these things do get said, a lot, on threads here.

There are threads and comments most days that advise avoiding trans people, generalise them as fetishists or normalise considering them troublesome people to have contact with.

And plenty of comments along the lines of refusing to consider CVs where pronouns are stated - or hiring a company who use them in an email signature.

Plus campaigns to boycott companies who show support of trans people, or feature them in ads or content. Or complaining to schools about employing trans or NB people, with advice to move schools etc.

Dislike MB freely - but in fairness, there’s some truth there about the prevailing characterisation of trans people.
