Munroe Bergdorf on the BBC

TonTonMacoute · 02/07/2025 10:13

Article by Gareth Roberts. I always chuckle at his articles even when the subject matter makes my blood boil.

This section sums it up

Bergdorf goes on. And on. And on. ‘We are constantly told that trans people are an abomination, that we shouldn’t even be friends with trans people, that you shouldn’t employ trans people,’ Bergdorf says, speaking from an alternative universe where that is actually happening.
Who exactly is ‘constantly telling’ us this? Who is saying we shouldn’t be friends with trans people? And which companies have said they won’t give them a job? There aren’t any, because if there were, they’d soon find themselves in court.

The BBC lets lies like this go completely unchallenged, they've completely lost the plot frankly.

Why is the BBC so obsessed with Munroe Bergdorf?

Munroe Bergdorf's appearance on the ‘How To Be In Love’ podcast series discussion on iPlayer marks a new, desperate low

Some GC people have lost work - agreed.

What I’m challenging is the statement that “far more” people have been sacked for being GC vs being trans.

I’m asking for the evidence to back that up. And so far not seeing it - presumably because it’s not true.

The number of people who have lost work due to being GC is NOT far more than the number who have lost work for being trans. That’s just a lazy nonsense getting thrown out to justify being unpleasant about a trans person this board dislikes intensely.

So far not a single example of a trans person losing their job for being trans has been posted on this thread. Have I missed something? Perhaps you could provide examples. I think it's fair to assume that for each example of a Forstater or Phoenix there are many that aren't public. Phoenix' tribunal in particular showed the abuse directed against GCs was systematic. In addition many of us who are veterans of the early 2020s Twitter wars know of many accounts who were doxed by trans activists and lost their jobs. I think the burden of proof falls to you to show an equivalent level of discrimination on the trans side, keeping in mind that the original claim was made by Munroe.

You could look at the employment tribunals of
Allison Bailey
Jo Phoenix
Maya Forstater
Sandie Peggie

Or look at the treatment of Kathleen Stock at Sussex uni

To see how GC women have been treated

There are many more examples

Roz Anderson at ERCC

MSP's who voted against party whips (Forensic Medical Examiners Bill and GRR bill to name just two) and lost ministerial positions because of it or were 'encouraged' to step down.

I'm sure I'll remember more throughout the day

From the arts world there's also many women who have been targeted and lost work eg
Rosie Kay
Gillian Philips
Jess de Wahls
Louise Distras
Roisin Murphy

You know how on JKR threads we get a certain poster saying how she chose the pen name Robert Galbraith because it's the name of someone who did gay conversion therapy rather than the actual reason? Well I'd like to take the opportunity to do the same here and point out that there was a high ranking Nazi called Burgdorf so Monroe clearly took inspiration from that for his new name.

If our resident TRAs don't like me saying this about the vile misogynist MB, they need to stop doing the same to JKR.

MarieDeGournay · 04/07/2025 09:41

Without any effort or researching, we've been able to come up with a list of GC women who have lost their jobs, lost funding, been excluded etc etc for being GC. They are just the high profile ones, it's reasonable to assume there are many more such occurrences that didn't get the same publicity.

Well I say 'publicity', but it's not like the media is all over even the 'high-profile' cases, is it?

Over to you, Minky - similar list please, transpeople, including high profile ones - who have lost their jobs, lost funding, been excluded, etc just for being trans.

Not forgetting Sandie Peggie

Jenni Murray wasn't sacked, but she made it quite clear when she resigned that it was because they wouldn't allow her to say a person cannot change sex on Woman's Hour. She refused to continue working in an organisation that had been captured in this way.

We're still waiting for your list @MinkyMankyPanda...

Presumably trans people aren’t suffering workplace discrimination because they all pass so well, apparently, and no one can tell they’re trans. Apparently.

Oh aye, a rabbit sanctuary has been targeted by TRA's recently. It's as if they want to make the general public completely unsympathetic.

Admit it, Waitwhat23, your post is tangential at best and was just a blatant excuse to post a video of a very cute bunny - so thank youEaster Grin
