Thank you for your kind words on my squares for Swashy. It did take several iterations, especially the galleon, but I couldn’t send something if I could see a way which might make it better.

If it hadn’t been for yesterday’s deadline (and no tribunal to watch today) I’d probably still be trying something else.

You have pride in your craft, and you wanted to send nothing but your best, but I bet we would probably have been wowed by the earlier iterations too.
The forced deadline probably saved you from a perfectionist spiral!
The final squares are brilliant, the galleon is great and the little Ted is just fantasticSmile

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 19/07/2025 11:58

@AsWithGlad - your squares are absolutely amazing - you are so clever!

Looking through the Woolley Hugs gallery is just lovely. Amazing knit and crochet artworks interrupted by gerbil going ons. I'm quite proud of my little contributions but they don't hold a candle to some of the others. Not just quantity but quality, and to see the Bluestocking names who made some of them. Wonderful ❤️

FuzzyPuffling · 19/07/2025 13:21

As a non-knitter I am in awe of very single Swashy-square. They are all wonderful and so full of love. I would award all of you gold medals. 🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇

Boiledbeetle · 19/07/2025 13:22

I'm not sure how much 'help' Maud is being over at Woolly Hugs HQ

I am so glad Sandie Peggy is suing the RCN - I was a nurse, and was an RCN member but I am appalled at how little they care for the women they represent.

I'd like to see Dr Upton accountable for his part in the fiasco too.

I have an announcement....

Today is the 200th day of keeping my new year's resolution.

That is all

<runs around waving arms madly in the air>

MarieDeGournay · 19/07/2025 19:34

Well done, Boily!

  • as long as your new year's resolution wasn't
'I'm going to give up running around waving my arms madly in the air'😄
EdithStourton · 19/07/2025 19:45

Well, Boily, you have lots of arms to wave!

Thankfully not.

The house got out of control in the Covid years (bloody Amazon warehouse! I mean who wouldn't buy a brand new pair of Motorola headphones for 2 pence delivered to your door. And if you are going to buy a new mop head then you might as well buy 50 for less than the price of one? Right?!)

I went from a doom box, to a doom room until eventually I had a doom house.

So I had quite a clear out the other year but lost 2023 to UTDOD vols 1 and 2 and God knows what happened to last year!

But i was at the point where I couldn't think past a whole room needing sorting out and never having the energy to do a whole room. So I'd do nothing!

So this year it's been every little helps! No matter how small I just had to do something to tackle the chaos!

So it's been a task a day, but I couldn't include anything I did on a day to day basis (and honestly sometimes just getting dressed is a task in itself, but I couldn't count that!)

There are some days where it's obvious I'm phoning it in effort wise!

There's been quite a few days of getting rid of 5 pairs of socks type tasks I'll admit!

But I have taken a photo every day for 200 days to prove I've done that day.

See...

I've had to cover the actual images, but you can see at the top it says 200 images!

Only another 165 to go!

Also, on a completely different topic I highly recommend Lidl's Dibai style chocolate.

Much better than the M and S bar I had a while back.

This one was much more what I was expecting and it's so very very moreish!

They have it in a spread version as well and as an ice cream.

Well done Boily. A while ago you showed us one of your bulk purchases you were working on - iirc wasn’t it something like storage bags?

DH has started on dealing with his vast archive of work related paper - most of it public domain stuff which can go straight in the recycling but for various reasons he also had quite a lot of company confidential reports that need shredding. And of course among it there are a few things that need to be kept. The stratum he’s excavating at the moment had a seam of my stuff including some of my PhD work. But also copies of our chemistry degree final exam papers which we sat in 1982 and managed to get firsts for. They might as well have been written in hieroglyphics for all the chance we had of answering the questions now !😂

Yes, storage solutions!

I've still got a lot of those, I'm not getting rid of those until everything else is sorted and in its final home. But at least They are all now corralled onto one shelving unit. Then whatever is left at the end goes.

I did get rid of 40 matching foldable storage boxes the other week which was a good day!!

I've not got to the point of actually being able to sort out piles of paperwork, but I'm at least now at the point where my each of my piles of paperwork only contain paperwork about one thing. So at least when I do get to that point sorting each pile should be easier.

Supposedly in the shops from last Thursday but not in ours yet, we are a bit out of the way tbf.
I'm most excited about the promise of Spaghetti-Eis. Dd who is currently out of the country is relying on me to get a few packs.

Loving the Escher and Escher window. I also liked their ladder.

How would they feel about designing a treehouse for the Bluey?

umm ... may need a bit of adjustment

I make my cleaner shove it all in her car each week. I've told her I don't want to know what happens to it after that!

I like to think it's all going to charity shops etc but for all I know she could be stopping off at the tip on her way home! Or selling it in facebook!

What amazes me is I can find something that wasn't cheap easy to get rid of but I'll ummm and ermmm over something that cost a pound. It's infuriating
