Please can anyone point me in the direction of any reading or any valid points to put her off this?

I was thinking of any reading for them, but thank you. I have seen that website but I’m worried they will think that that is an anti trans one

Anything which seeks to dissuade her will likely be termed as 'anti trans'.

Bayswater is for you, not your daughter. There are lots of parents in your position, they can give you expert support.

SingleSexSpacesInSchools · 29/06/2025 08:54

For example the last link is about a very good book. Rapid onset gender dysphoria is absolutely real but the Wikipedia page for the book claims it is not.

sashh · 29/06/2025 09:06

Wow that list of links should keep you busy OP.

Well what does she want to achieve with the hormones?

She might not be able to have children, does she want children?

Does she want to go on to have surgery? If so she puts herself at risk of developing osteoporosis.

https://strwebprdmedia.blob.core.windows.net/media/libmnjci/ros-transgender-trans-people-and-osteoporosis.pdf

Her brain is still developing.

If she has any mental health issues (including gender dysphoria) then hormones may not make her feel any better about her body.

Counselling and talking therapies can help a person to live with dysphoria and doesn't cause any permeant physical changes so why not start with that?

Whatever you do, just please please make sure they don't feel rejected, give them a squeeze and tell them that, whatever happens, you'll be there.

P0PPICKs · 29/06/2025 09:27

She is at uni and she is autistic. Seems quite happy generally and we had a chat several years ago about waiting until 25 to do anything

She's obviously been inducted into radicalised campus politics and in a bid to make friends ( not always that easy for those on the spectrum) is trying to align herself with the circulating themes. Autistic people are very susceptible to 'trans' messaging.

Which university if you don't mind me asking?

The 'post trans' one is good, because she might find someone else whose story she can relate to.

This was going on way before uni actually. It’s the local friends who are all trans not the ones at uni

Have any of the friends started taking hormones or had surgery...or is it a matter of adopting 'Non binary' identities? Are they lesbians.....is your daughter a lesbian?

One friend has started taking them. She was non binary but now changed to boys name. Best friend also changed to boys name. I suspect they could be lesbians but I would never suggest that. She says she is asexual anyway

The pressure to adopt a label is very strong, and 'asexual' seems to be the label for those who want to distance themselves from sex altogether. I have an adult son who I have always sensed is gay, he is also on the spectrum and is pretty much 'asexual' in practice ( not involved in romantic/sexual relationships)
The vast majority of young women adopting trans identities and starting hormones will be same sex attracted.

What are her interests and hobbies. Has she always be androgynous inclined; not comfortable with 'girly' stuff?
