Yes, the genius behind the rogue critique of the Cass review is now the boss. Good luck Agent Clownfish in your mission to destroy the rest of the BMA’s credibility!

Does your namecalling indicate that you're against criticism of the Cass report, despite all the international pushback..or are you not aware of that pushback?

Have you even read the Cass report? Bloody well written.

TheAutumnCrow · 28/06/2025 00:20

Only a fool wouldn’t take the Cass Report seriously.

BeeSouriante · 28/06/2025 00:32

Yes of course and yes, it's well written (it should be, they had years), but that does not say anything about its validity.

Here's a (incomplete) list of some of the pushback that the Cass Report has received - https://ruthpearce.net/2024/04/16/whats-wrong-with-the-cass-review-a-round-up-of-commentary-and-evidence/

Some of the review articles have been utterly damning, but even if you pretend that the criticism doesn't exist. The actions of Wes Streeting in outright banning puberty blockers (against the recommendations of Cass, which recommended caution) are unconscionable.

What’s wrong with the Cass Review? A round-up of commentary and evidence

Is that the critique that mysteriously hasn’t seen the light of day?

TheAutumnCrow · 28/06/2025 00:39

As a forensic type boffin, I’m with Cass, not the anti-Cass.

Bee, why haven't you responded to the several other threads you've started?

No one is not taking it seriously.

Sadly, now we have the situation like the bad old days where trans kids are trying anything else. Hell, even before all this when PBs were just being heavily gatekept, I had a conversation with a young trans woman who told me how she managed to DIY for years during her mid-teens.

Puberty blockers were the compromise, sadly Streeting and his ilk are more interested in engaging in cruelty to bolster his diet Reform image than what's best for young people.

Bit of a plopper, eh? Probably not worth engaging with.

nhsmanagersanonymous · 28/06/2025 01:02

Puberty blockers are not best for young people.

And yet puberty blockers for children are being restricted or stopped in more and more countries 🤔

Can you explain why you are so keen to sterilise children? Particularly those who are autistic or who would grow up to be gay?

Don't pretend you don't know that nearly all children who take puberty blockers go on to cross sex hormones, meaning that they never go through puberty, so never reach sexual maturity.

They’re bloody dangerous.

What a horrendous children’s safeguarding scandal.

What's best for children, in your view, is to sterilise those who are confused by all the gender nonsense?

Have you ever stopped to consider for a nanosecond whether perhaps sterilising children is not what's best for them?

And stop with all this "trans kids" nonsense. No child is a transsexual.

Oh gawd I cannot be doing with any of this guff any more. It’s like we’ve got all the gender undergrads over here now exams are finished. Fed up of it all now.

nocoolnamesleft · 28/06/2025 02:01

Sterilising gay, autistic, and puberty distressed children is not what's best for them, it's eugenics.

Helleofabore · 28/06/2025 07:20

Did you take puberty blockers then @BeeSouriante ?

PermanentTemporary · 28/06/2025 07:21

Knowing a GIDS clinician for whom the arrival of Dr Cass was akin to the arrival of the cavalry - someone at last taking the whistleblowers seriously about the extreme nature of what was happening there - I find the referral to ‘the bad old days’ when ‘PBs were being heavily gatekept’ really interesting. Reminiscent of the old Trans Health Manifesto of the Jess Bradley days (whatever did happen to Jess Bradley?) with the adult demands for ‘trans health care’ to become a self managed dispensary service for all ages for drugs and surgery with zero professional frameworks around it, in particular zero of those awkward paediatricians and child development experts around. I always assumed that even the writers of that manifesto would acknowledge that they were essentially having fun while high. But no, apparently that was a serious contribution to you Bee.

I took from reading the Cass report something unexpected and important for me as an HCP; that I should be constantly vigilant about what happens in a clinical service when it is overwhelmed with demand, and that simply attempting by any means necessary to meet that demand is a recipe for clinical disaster. The time to blow the whistle/hit the red button and stop attempting to run up a moving down escalator is probably always nearer than you think. In particular, the need to question why there is such a surge in demand and what is happening to increase it.

QAOPspaceman

It is concerning to have someone who seems ideologically driven by issues such as this now in such a position of influence.

Theeyeballsinthesky · 28/06/2025 07:52

i wonder how many BMA members voted? On the other thread about the BMA several posters who were members said they had stopped engaging with the BMA because of the batshittery

That was my thought, it's difficult to have sympathy for Dr's who are members if they're letting this sort thing happen. But it could be a situation where the members don't get to vote only the elite do and as we all know, this association is all captured at the top.

I can think of one group of people who would be interested in that, and their collective name begins with P.
