Some recent news articles on how JKR's bank balance is continuing to grow she will just have to find more charities to fund. This is before the potential huge profit from the TV series hits in 2026.

Harry Potter's 2024 Max Viewership Numbers Reveal How Many Users Still Stream The Movies
According to numbers provided by Digital-i, (via Deadline), "Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone" was viewed over 40 million times on the Max streaming service last year. Though not widely regarded as the best "Harry Potter" movie by any means, being first clear counts for a lot. Digging deeper into the numbers, director Christopher Columbus' film reached nearly 20% of Warner Bros. Discovery's total subscriber base, which is pretty remarkable...
That's almost certainly why Warner Bros. Discovery is moving full-steam ahead on the "Harry Potter" TV show for HBO and Max, which is expected to premiere sometime in 2026...

For all of the controversy, the franchise, even beyond these streaming numbers, is evidently popular. "Hogwarts Legacy" was the best-selling video game of 2023, generating well over $1 billion in revenue for Warner Bros.

While i admire JKR for speaking out on the whole sorry trans issue, I do NOT respect that she sold the film rights to the books. It was amazing to see so many kids all over the world queuing to buy books, dressing up etc etc, the book releases at midnight etc. However selling the film/tv/endless merchandise rights was a poor decision, and purely mercenary. So since the films came out kids (and adults) don't have to bother with tiresome old books anymore. Shame her principles didn't apply then, but money was clearly more important.

All I can say is that anyone who is using it as a doorstop is missing out.

I'm already re-reading it.

I've just started it and enjoying it!. The Running Grave is also very useful to lift my computer screen to the perfect height.

Wtf?!?? So since she allowed them to be made into films, that means she is responsible for children not reading again? That is the most batshit thing I've ever read on here!

I wonder how many millions of children around the world have read the books because they saw the film, or were given merchandise. You would have to evidence your suggestion that the films & merch have stopped children reading. And why on earth should she not make money? Her taxes alone have contributed to the economy not to mention the jobs created and income for places linked to the films. I expect the National Trust was very happy with the income from renting out Lacock Abbey and subsequent income from HP tie-in activities.

What?
The first film came out in 2001, before the last 3 books were even published and they sold far more (and the midnight release "hype" was far bigger) than the ones before, i.e. also before the films were released.

25 years later and the "tiresome old books" are STILL topping best sellers charts.

So basically you're talking complete rubbish.

It’s because it’s an amazing piece of literature that thousands enjoy. The author is an amazing person who has helped charities all over the world. She’s wonderful and has enriched my children’s childhoods they loved the books and films dressed in hogworts robes to watch the films happily ran round the garden with wands and spells. youngest son is currently reading chamber of secrets! We have hundreds of toys and Lego ect have been a few times to studio. She has our support as anyone trying to protect others should. Totally admirable!

Apparently nobody is actually reading it, it's just gone to the top of the bestseller list due to transphobes who are happy to pay upwards of £15 for a new door stop.

😂😂

Gosh, how perceptive of you, @Portakalkedi This completely explains why the Harry Potter children's books still regularly sell in their hundreds of thousands and why JKR's latest book for adults has immediately shot to the top of the hardback fiction bestseller list, outselling its nearest competitor more than three-fold. I await your next insight with bated breath.
