Reddit TIM is shocked that, despite featuring all the major components of a woman (a dress, tights, a handbag, and make up), they do not fool anyone.

I rarely wear any of the above, so it is a miracle that I am ever correctly identified as a human woman.

On a serious note, I am concerned that the TRA movement, despite being based on gender stereotypes and mental ill-health, will continue to have power because of the volume of and their capacity for emotional email-writing. Do we need to write to our MPs with regularity to ensure our voices add balance and sanity to the outcries of the emperors and their new clothes?

This is absolutely at the core of identity politics. The police aren’t to know if that’s a genuinely a trans woman or stag party joining in for laughs or a man dressed up to cause trouble during a controversial march.

There was a pic posted on Twitter a while ago basically saying these men in skirts give creepy vibes, those men in skirts don't and are plainly men stretching boundaries of fashion. We need to embrace diversity and disassociate fashion statements from TRA manipulation and fetish. Its those very people who are damaging any chance of that.

Even if you wore a dress, makeup, tights and a handbag every day, what happens when you take them all off to shower or go to bed or go swimming or take a karate class? Do you just pop out of existence until someone manages to fling them all in the right direction? If clothes and cosmetics make you a woman, what are you when you're not wearing them?

Fun story. At my daughter's martial arts class this evening there was a child of about nine with chin length hair and at a distance I wasn't sure if they were a boy or girl. At the end of class the child came very close on the way out and I could see he was a boy.

When the features that we usually associate with one sex (in this case, longer hair which would usually be associated with girls) have you thinking "I don't know" rather than "boy/girl", that usually means "not the sex you'd jump to if they really were that sex; the reason you're unsure is because we associate this feature with M or F but you can tell something is not consistent with that".
