Last minute school pride event- the rainbow flag award and other resources

Hi,
My children's school sent a letter Monday night about their pride event happening tomorrow. They have a meeting for parents tomorrow at 1.45pm which some parents have expressed concern with and want to know what is being discussed/given to the children tomorrow.

The teacher responded with these resources;

Assembly will be first thing in the morning after registration as normal. Activities will take place during the day depending on individual class timetables.

Below are a few of the websites that contain information and resources that we use in school.

www.popnolly.com

justlikeus.org

www.bbc.co.uk/newsround/52872693.amp

www.theproudtrust.org/schools-and-training/secondary-resources/lgbt-pride-resources-for-teachers/

Does anyone have any info about these? I can't see the actual resources without signing up to any of these. They are also renewing their rainbow flag award which I objected to last time. I must say there are several parents commenting publicly on school app about concerns so this does feel like a change in tide as it's usually just me.

I'm really not happy about any of this, some parents have asked outright whether they are discussing gender identity and transgender and they haven't answered the question which worries me. Also just responding and missing the point with this;

The event will be very similar to those we have been holding every summer for the last few years. This year we just thought it would be nice to invite parents to take part.
As in previous years and at other times it has arisen throughout the curriculum, children will be taught about acceptance for all. This includes those in LGBT+ communities. This is done in a child appropriate way and focuses on having full respect for people and families and their differences.

Would appreciate some guidance, I will be attending the meeting tomorrow but I want to be armed with some info about these companies they have linked.

Thanks

These are all bad actors OP. Search the Transgender Trend website for more details.

Here’s the Transgender Trend link on Pop n Olly:

Total indoctrination then. Good luck.

bonusjonasus · 24/06/2025 19:57

Oh no!

I mean I expecting it but still.

Thank you I will have a look at transgender trend.

I objected to the rainbow flag last time, asked them if they really thought the £800 couldn't be better spent elsewhere (I have an SEN child and know first hand the school struggle with funding for this)

I'm just so mad.

Brainwashing the kids eh, I'd keep my child off that day without a doubt, don't be falling for this indoctrination and that's exactly what it is.

If there are other parents that you know for sure feel the same as you, you could privately share those links with them so that they can go into the meeting informed as well.

TwoLoonsAndASprout · 24/06/2025 20:10

Also, take a look at the Cass report and the recent schools guidance that references it (someone here might have a link for that).

Tontostitis · 24/06/2025 20:15

Recently my 11 year old grandson confidently told me that of course you can change your sex. And was shocked if not a bit scared.when I said no you can't there's only 2 sexes and it's impossible to swop between them. He said you're not allowed to say that Nanny Miss XXXX says so. I would keep my child off school that day if those groups are in any way involved in Pride Day.

KindLemonSquid · 24/06/2025 20:19

I am infuriated though that the TQ+aspect has completely taken over now, which means important understanding and conversations about sexual orientation and being same sex attracted is now being lost. Or if it's mentioned it's wrapped up in the gender stuff. Just when kids need it the most.

I agree. And that's what's really getting to me in the replies. One teacher replied;

Just as clarity as PSHE lead. This event is about equality for all. No matter what families look like. All children and families are welcome in our school.

We also respect your decision to withdraw. Our doors are always open if you change your mind.

I, and most likely most of the other parents have no issue with this. My children know people are gay, some families have 2 mums/dads etc. what everyone really wants to know if you're adding gender identity into it, and going by all those links I've read on transgender trend, what's all these resources seem to care about.

As a pp said, all of those orgs are bad news.

Pop n Olly has literally just been in the news!

Many gay parents would not be ok with this as these organisations are NOT supportive of homosexuality. The whole 'we welcome everyone' is absolute hogwash: there is no welcoming of those not submissive to the gender ideology.

My child would be off that day, as they would for any other day of political/religious indoctrination, and I'd be reporting this to the DfE, the Local Authority, and the EHRC.

This has been floating around on X today. It is a clip from a Popnolly video explaining the 9 protected characteristics of the Equality Act. Unsurprisingly it’s incorrect as the pc of sex has not been included but gender and gender identity has. Gender reassignment is also included so it’s not a rewording of this PC.

TheOtherRaven · 24/06/2025 21:18

I'll bet this is also against the DfE guidance, which is supposed to stop passionate adults inflicting trusting children with their personal politics and bias presented as uncontested fact.

These groups do not believe in girls having single sex spaces, sports or being permitted boundaries. The children will be fed the messages that pave those beliefs.

bonusjonasus · 24/06/2025 21:26

Thank you so much everyone!

I've made the decision to keep the kids off, but I will still go and attend the meeting.

I really appreciate your comments.

Point out that these organizations are not in favour of sex equality, they are out to destroy women's sports.

If they are lecturing on equality then give them one back!

The best advice is to do as much reading as you can but stick to basic points, like that you do not believe transwomen are women and it is wrong for them to teach kids this as it is an affront to equality.

Here you are OP - this is draft guidance put out by the last government. This government haven't withdrawn it or commented on the consultation so it's worth referring to as it's absolutely clear that children shouldn't be gaslit with this stuff.

Ah, that’s a better one than the one I linked!

MrsOvertonsWindow · 24/06/2025 21:59

And all those organisations are political activist groups. Schools are legally required to be politically neutral. Groups that push queer theory are not meant to have access to children to promote their niche political beliefs unless they're part of a balanced curriculum offer that explores all aspects of a political issue. Examples might be whether men can play in women's sport? What's the history of single sex spaces for women? Those issues could be discussed with contributions from both sides of the debate.
Pride activities in school fail to have that debate, promoting only regressive stereotypes and seeking to remove the rights of girls to single sex sports, showers, changing rooms etc.

BettyBooper · 24/06/2025 23:27

Loads of these organisations seem to be interlinked and mostly funded by JPMorgan. JLM was in my DD school and I was equally concerned and did some digging. Was not pleased by what I found...

Grateful for the additional links and info on this thread.

FeistyCat · 25/06/2025 06:16

If you can keep your child/ren off today I would.
