Feminism: Sex and gender discussions

Last minute school pride event- the rainbow flag award and other resources

bonusjonasus · 24/06/2025 19:43

Hi,
My children's school sent a letter Monday night about their pride event happening tomorrow. They have a meeting for parents tomorrow at 1.45pm which some parents have expressed concern with and want to know what is being discussed/given to the children tomorrow.

The teacher responded with these resources;

Assembly will be first thing in the morning after registration as normal. Activities will take place during the day depending on individual class timetables.

Below are a few of the websites that contain information and resources that we use in school.

www.popnolly.com

justlikeus.org

www.bbc.co.uk/newsround/52872693.amp

www.theproudtrust.org/schools-and-training/secondary-resources/lgbt-pride-resources-for-teachers/

Does anyone have any info about these? I can't see the actual resources without signing up to any of these. They are also renewing their rainbow flag award which I objected to last time. I must say there are several parents commenting publicly on school app about concerns so this does feel like a change in tide as it's usually just me.

I'm really not happy about any of this, some parents have asked outright whether they are discussing gender identity and transgender and they haven't answered the question which worries me. Also just responding and missing the point with this;

The event will be very similar to those we have been holding every summer for the last few years. This year we just thought it would be nice to invite parents to take part.
As in previous years and at other times it has arisen throughout the curriculum, children will be taught about acceptance for all. This includes those in LGBT+ communities. This is done in a child appropriate way and focuses on having full respect for people and families and their differences.

Would appreciate some guidance, I will be attending the meeting tomorrow but I want to be armed with some info about these companies they have linked.

Thanks

Well done @bluenova - that sounds like a constructive initial engagement (in the general scheme of things), though you clearly are not out of the woods yet. All power to your elbow.

MrsOvertonsWindow · 04/02/2026 20:01

Well done for persisting OP. (name change?)
It's exhausting isn't it? And school senior leaders being ignorant about all this is no surprise.
Hopefully a parental challenge like yours will make them think twice before doing something like this again.

bluenova · 04/02/2026 19:50

So I had a meeting with the Head and PSHE lead. Head was interested but ignorant. Asked me how come I knew so much about it all “was it my job”!!! PSHE lead pretty clueless and quiet.
I sent a follow up email summarising all the issues arising from the presentation.

In response I got an email which stated that it was appreciated that I understood the need to comply with “public sector equality duties” and the “increasing scope of the PSHE curriculum.”

During the meeting it wasn’t clear that the position of the school was that the presentation was part of the curriculum so I have responded asking for clarity on this. I also asked them to put in writing if they thought that the presentation wouldn’t meet the requirements of the new guidelines.
The battle continues.

This thread passed me by at the time, but just to add, this calling 'gender identity' a PC instead of 'gender reassignment' isn't some slip of the tongue, is it? Cos we've seen this before. If you can stretch the definition to 'identity', you can include kids, cos reassignment is for over 18s only. A bit like 'single-sex spaces' morphing into 'safe spaces'. These things aren't just happenstance. It seems all parents of young children are going to have to be very alert for many years to come.

Old thread I know but I’ve recently received from my daughter’s school, the Just Like Us presentation that was given without parental consent or knowledge in June. It is worse than I imagined it would be, calling for girls to ask for pronouns, attend pride events and consider gender as a standard facet of life such as religion. Also fibs about the origins of Pride including tq+
I’m currently going through the official complaints procedure with the school. I think the RSHE guidance will help but I actually don’t think anyone at the school has the wherewithal to recognise propaganda when they see it anyway…

Good luck. I genuinely believe this group should be banned from going into schools.

They did a report in 2021, funded by JP Morgan (that seems to finance a lot of this) about LGBTQ+ mental health. The methodology is weak to say the very least.

That report has then been used (predictably) by other groups masquerading as 'mental health' support groups, like Place2Be as justification for peddling more of this to schools. I'm sure there are links between these groups as they all seem to reference each other.

It's a racket and I suspect a financially successful one. Schools are allowing this in without considering that it's self-justifying and actually damaging to children.

Anyway, the report is on their website

Let us know how you get on?

MarieDeGournay · 13/01/2026 10:56

I agree with all of the above about how wrong it is for schools to indoctrinate children etc etc but even more shocking is that schools are teaching children things that are factually, demonstrably wrong about human sex.
They should be taught that human sex is binary and unchangeable, because those are the facts.

Schools can knock themselves out in breaking down gender stereotypes, and letting little children develop into little human beings according to their own ways, like little boys being quiet and nurturing if that's the way they want to be, and little girls tearing around a muddy playing field, if that's the way they want to be - or a combination of bothSmile
If they are proper educators teaching facts, they have to say that you'll always be a boy, you'll always be a girl, you can't change that. But schools can also teach that you can be the kind of boy you want to be, be the kind of girl you want to be, no limits, no constraints.

Sending good wishes and support to the parents having to deal with genderwoo in schoolsFlowers

WhyThatsDelightful · 11/01/2026 21:40

The school has deliberately evaded your parental authority here. That’s an absolute breach of loco parentis trust.

From personal experience, I’d offer transact your complaint efficiently and test for the school’s recognition of your status as a parent. Any indication you are being “managed” indicates the school has favoured activism at the expense of a trusted relationship with parents with a common interest of your child.

Unfortunately, should you wish to have a trusted relationship with the school with a common interest of your child you will have to find another school. It was my only option, unfortunately I was too slow.

The costs of this kind of activism on children and families is catastrophic. Sorry.

Well done. Sadly it's now up to parents to safeguard children from this nonsense as this government are in thrall to transactivists and will never prioritise child safeguarding over the demands of transactivists to gaslight children with queer theory propaganda.

Recently my 11 year old grandson confidently told me that of course you can change your sex. And was shocked if not a bit scared.when I said no you can't there's only 2 sexes and it's impossible to swop between them. He said you're not allowed to say that Nanny Miss XXXX says so. I would keep my child off school that day if those groups are in any way involved in Pride Day.

I think if you ask the question that if a male can only be diagnosed with prostate cancer wouldn’t that mean they could cure prostate cancer by thinking of themselves as female.

I would want to know how someone changes sex.
Body modification is just plastic surgery. It doesn’t change your sex

@SternJoyousBee It is extraordinary that so many teachers, even ones in the biology department seemingly buy into the TQ stuff. In the same way that my brother (a surgeon) says that so many of his NHS colleagues are completely in support of and believe this - HOW is that possible after 5 years at med school etc etc??!

Thank you for this thread - I have just had an email from my sons (secondary) school that they are going to have a 'Rainbow Day' next week (I thought Pride Month was June, but hey-ho) and Just Like Me are going to be doing the indoctrination, I mean a presentation.

I have emailed the school asking for the resources that will actually be presented. My boys are old enough (15 and 17) to have decided what they think about all of this ("another rainbow vomit day") but the 17 year old is being shown a documentary about the TRUK football team and the younger one has Just Like Me teaching them. When they were further down the school, they had a provider in who was teaching that there are three sexes, we are all on a spectrum, sex isn't binary blah blah blah

I am so deeply fed up with the TQ+ lobby making everything about them - it makes it harder for LGB children, not easier, and is also feeding them utter bilge that their 'identities' trump everything, including reality and common sense.

Are any of them doing Biology at secondary school? How does this guff about three sexes fit in with what they are being taught in Biology lessons?

Is this primary school? Kids aged 4 - 11? If so, how ... interesting ... that the school feels these children need encouragement regarding their SEXUAL ORIENTATION.

How absolutely vile. Just as vile if it's a secondary school. I wish I had my office set up, I'd draft you a letter to adapt that would politely tear senior staff a new areshole - politely, neutrally, and in full compliance with their local and jurisdictional policies.

MrsOvertonsWindow · 27/06/2025 12:04

Sadly the only way to force teachers to stop politically grooming primary children that sex change is possible, that they have no right to privacy from the opposite sex and giving some age inappropriate organisations access to children in the school, is to make a formal complaint - first to the school using the complaints procedure and then if your complaint is dismissed, to the governors.
The fact the school are doing something so basic as getting the protected characteristics wrong suggests that much of the rest of what they write and teach about "gender identity" is likely to also untruthful, activist babble. For any individual children who believe the lie that sex change is possible and desirable - this is the damage adults are doing to the vulnerable primary children who fall for this stuff:

https://www.transgendertrend.com/childhood-social-transition/#:~:text=Childhood%20social%20transition%20is%20portrayed,best%20part%20of%20their%20childhood%3F

And this is a thread from a parent with a teenage daughter who is compelled to undress in changing rooms alongside teenage boys. An example of the type of adult you're encountering - so wrapped up in transactivism that their fundamental duty to safeguard children appears completely absent.
The parents are pursuing the school relentlessly - they're currently being fobbed off but hopefully the staff will end up in court shortly explaining why they believe mixed sex changing / showering etc for teenagers is so desirable.

Yeah I'm looking into it.

The teacher said she'd seen my post on Mumsnet 🙃.

Conversation didn't really progress as we fundamentally disagree. She believes trans women are women and that humans can change sex so 🤷🏻‍♀️

She's free to believe whatever she likes.

She is certainly not free to use her position of trust to teach her personal political views to a captive audience of other people's children as if her views and beliefs are facts and the only facts.

MrsOvertonsWindow · 26/06/2025 20:11

Good to know that the teacher saw this thread. Then they'll have an idea of how unprofessionally they're behaving, gaslighting primary children with age inappropriate issues, working with queer theory lobby groups to indoctrinate them and indulging themselves with their personal interests rather than behaving in a professional manner.

I hope she’s read the thread properly, followed the links and perhaps even introduced herself to The Cass review for undoubtedly the very first time. From personal experience, the TWAW, be kind brigade come at it from a place of blissful ignorance. They’ve done zero reading.
They disengaged their brains, signing up for easy wins and rainbow cookies.

bonusjonasus · 27/06/2025 08:34

It really is frustrating.

I've found their RSE and equality policies on their website, both of which list 'gender identity' as protected characteristics.

The teacher actually said it was one too, which I corrected.

Well here’s hoping that she read the transgender trend links above, showing that the resources they use are factually inaccurate and dangerous.
But let’s be honest? Probably not. Because she’s right and TWAW and fingers in ears “lalalala”.

I’m sorry OP, it must be so frustrating.

Do they have awards which celebrate the processes of reflection and self assessment by acknowledging the roles of women in science, the arts, sports, philosophy and literature?

Do they set aside curriculum time and awards to discuss how disability is reflected in our society?

What as a school do they do to combat racism and anti semitism , how much have they spent on resources in the last 12 months to specifically challenge these?

Why have they chosen to concentrate on one particular area ? Who has been the lead on this? Is this in the current School Development Plan, if so what are the expected outcomes and success criteria, how will they be measured and reported back, and by whom, and what is the expected cost?

All of this.
Schools are meant to focus on needs, identified by data. Now this primary school MAY have an issue with learning and pastoral data showing rampant homophobia amongst the staff and "gay children" (primary school remember) are routinely underachieving, abused, marginalised and threatened.
But I'd put money on it that there's no such data or evidence. Just the self important wishes of a small number of staff who've been able to redirect resources and learning time to Pride activities.
And I'd put money on it that the needs of many SEN children are regularly unmet and under resourced. And that there are all sorts of groups in the school where underachievement is an issue but their learning needs and welfare are routinely ignored in a busy school.

TheaBrandt1 · 27/06/2025 06:35

Its mad. Surely in 2025 in the western world it’s accepted by pretty much everyone that a percentage of the population people are gay. Why do we need parades / months / banners / events to celebrate this? Surely statistically women are far worse off than gay men.

FeistyCat · 27/06/2025 02:20

Next month is Disability Month. I bet that teacher will do FUCK ALL for that. Because it doesn't serve the patriarchy, it doesn't get them cheap kudos points, and it's not something pretty or cheerful to paint or do.
