Hi,
My children's school sent a letter Monday night about their pride event happening tomorrow. They have a meeting for parents tomorrow at 1.45pm which some parents have expressed concern with and want to know what is being discussed/given to the children tomorrow.

The teacher responded with these resources;

Assembly will be first thing in the morning after registration as normal. Activities will take place during the day depending on individual class timetables.

Below are a few of the websites that contain information and resources that we use in school.

www.popnolly.com

justlikeus.org

www.bbc.co.uk/newsround/52872693.amp

www.theproudtrust.org/schools-and-training/secondary-resources/lgbt-pride-resources-for-teachers/

Does anyone have any info about these? I can't see the actual resources without signing up to any of these. They are also renewing their rainbow flag award which I objected to last time. I must say there are several parents commenting publicly on school app about concerns so this does feel like a change in tide as it's usually just me.

I'm really not happy about any of this, some parents have asked outright whether they are discussing gender identity and transgender and they haven't answered the question which worries me. Also just responding and missing the point with this;

The event will be very similar to those we have been holding every summer for the last few years. This year we just thought it would be nice to invite parents to take part.
As in previous years and at other times it has arisen throughout the curriculum, children will be taught about acceptance for all. This includes those in LGBT+ communities. This is done in a child appropriate way and focuses on having full respect for people and families and their differences.

Would appreciate some guidance, I will be attending the meeting tomorrow but I want to be armed with some info about these companies they have linked.

Thanks

If you can keep your child/ren off today I would.

Sorry, I see that you said you would, I should have RTFT first.

I agree. And that's what's really getting to me in the replies. One teacher replied;

Just as clarity as PSHE lead. This event is about equality for all. No matter what families look like. All children and families are welcome in our school.

We also respect your decision to withdraw. Our doors are always open if you change your mind.

I, and most likely most of the other parents have no issue with this. My children know people are gay, some families have 2 mums/dads etc. what everyone really wants to know if you're adding gender identity into it, and going by all those links I've read on transgender trend, what's all these resources seem to care about.

Well the teacher is bang out of order. 'Equality for all' is impossible to achieve and society is actually better off with some discrimination.

Are they going to ask a paedophile in to talk about their sexual attraction?

Don't they exclude children who have vomited for 24/48 hours?

Sorry if I’ve missed it, but how old is your child?
Also, what is the rainbow flag award? What is it awarded for?

I have 2 children in the school, 11 and 6.

The rainbow flag award says it is 'a process of reflection and self assessment of the quality of lgtbq+ inclusion in your setting in regards to different areas of work'

Recently my 11 year old grandson confidently told me that of course you can change your sex. And was shocked if not a bit scared.when I said no you can't there's only 2 sexes and it's impossible to swop between them. He said you're not allowed to say that Nanny Miss XXXX says so. I would keep my child off school that day if those groups are in any way involved in Pride Day.

It's unsurprising kids feel like this when they've been taught from 3 years old that that is the case. Its very unfair to these children who, until puberty, basically can "switch sex" and be perceived and treated no differently to any other little girl or boy. But then puberty hits and the hard truth that changing sex is not actually possible and they now need to either commit to a lifetime of medication and surgeries or go through "wrong sex" puberty. Well with the puberty blocker ban the second option is really the only option. That's very cruel and must be hard to accept.

I think you should formally complain to the school about the lack of notice. Argue it does not allow enough time for you to prepare for any questions your DC may ask when coming home from school afterwards, nor allow for any parent with a conscientious objection to withdraw their child from the school for the day.

Then to the governors if no satisfactory answer, and ask them how it squares with the protected characteristics of the Equality Act 2010.

breakfastdinnerandtea · 26/06/2025 09:49

What was said in the meeting OP?

I agree. If you can possibly summon the energy to make this a formal complaint, please do. You would get plenty of support here.

Yeah I'm looking into it.

The teacher said she'd seen my post on Mumsnet 🙃.

Conversation didn't really progress as we fundamentally disagree. She believes trans women are women and that humans can change sex so 🤷🏻‍♀️

Take your kids out of school for the day and tell the school why. If it were me I would say, ‘I don’t have a problem with age appropriate sex education but I am not on board with discussion of complex ideas regarding identity with young children. This event should have been advertised well in advance and discussed with parents first with, at the very least, alternative arrangements on offer for parents who do not subscribe to gender ideology and wish to protect their children from it.’

MrsOvertonsWindow · 26/06/2025 20:11

Good to know that the teacher saw this thread. Then they'll have an idea of how unprofessionally they're behaving, gaslighting primary children with age inappropriate issues, working with queer theory lobby groups to indoctrinate them and indulging themselves with their personal interests rather than behaving in a professional manner.

Agreed.

I despair that these people are teaching our children.

SinnerBoy · 26/06/2025 22:42

The teacher is a stupid, wicked liar, propagandising to impressionable young children so. I wish you the best in your complaints.

chocciebiscuits · 26/06/2025 22:48

Shocking what young children are being taught at school these days

TheaBrandt1 · 26/06/2025 22:56

This is all so sinister. This fake nice “inclusion for all” shtick.

FeistyCat · 26/06/2025 23:56

So she believes a fully intact male with penis and testicles (92% to 97% of transwomen retain them) is a woman? And she'd have this intact male with penis and testicles, only in a dress, in with women and girls, many whom are rape survivors? She's a sick predator then and has no business teaching vulnerable innocent children. She has no business even being near children.

And even trans people admit they haven't changed their actual sex, so she is really fucked up in the head.

I'd consider reporting her to the authorities, tbh. I think she's a safeguarding threat to children.

SternJoyousBee · 27/06/2025 01:06

A teacher who believes humans can change sex shouldn’t be teaching.

Do they have awards which celebrate the processes of reflection and self assessment by acknowledging the roles of women in science, the arts, sports, philosophy and literature?

Do they set aside curriculum time and awards to discuss how disability is reflected in our society?

What as a school do they do to combat racism and anti semitism , how much have they spent on resources in the last 12 months to specifically challenge these?

Why have they chosen to concentrate on one particular area ? Who has been the lead on this? Is this in the current School Development Plan, if so what are the expected outcomes and success criteria, how will they be measured and reported back, and by whom, and what is the expected cost?

AtrociousCircumstance · 27/06/2025 01:37

My god. The head teacher is a fool in that case.

FeistyCat · 27/06/2025 02:20

Next month is Disability Month. I bet that teacher will do FUCK ALL for that. Because it doesn't serve the patriarchy, it doesn't get them cheap kudos points, and it's not something pretty or cheerful to paint or do.

TheaBrandt1 · 27/06/2025 06:35

Its mad. Surely in 2025 in the western world it’s accepted by pretty much everyone that a percentage of the population people are gay. Why do we need parades / months / banners / events to celebrate this? Surely statistically women are far worse off than gay men.

Id be keeping my kids off too.

The lack of notice around it just adds to the seedy subterfuge.

All of this.
Schools are meant to focus on needs, identified by data. Now this primary school MAY have an issue with learning and pastoral data showing rampant homophobia amongst the staff and "gay children" (primary school remember) are routinely underachieving, abused, marginalised and threatened.
But I'd put money on it that there's no such data or evidence. Just the self important wishes of a small number of staff who've been able to redirect resources and learning time to Pride activities.
And I'd put money on it that the needs of many SEN children are regularly unmet and under resourced. And that there are all sorts of groups in the school where underachievement is an issue but their learning needs and welfare are routinely ignored in a busy school.
