Why is anti-trans so important?

Elizabethbd · 24/06/2025 11:48

So, I will preface this with saying that I’m not in the UK, and my country does not yet have the kind of anti-trans debate as there is in the English speaking world.

So, I have a hard time understanding why this is such an important question to many women.

Surely there are women’s issues that affect a larger part of society.

I’m thinking rape and violence towards women, homelesness, sex trafficking and honour killings. Why are these issues not more important and worthy of attention, as they affect so many more women than those who come into contact with trans women (or men)?

Bee is a trans woman.

Sweden? The Sweden that compulsorily sterilised ca 60,000 people, most of them women, for 'medical', 'social' and 'eugenic' reasons? That Sweden?

It certainly does know a thing or two about women's rights.

TwoLoonsAndASprout · 26/06/2025 18:14

I presume that if Trump proclaimed that gravity was indeed the thing that made objects fall to earth, you would be equally speedy in denouncing such balderdash?

Which also raises the thought that if a government passes a law that some people can self define as opting out of gravity do TRAs think that means that those people actually float into the sky?

Laws can mandate people pretend reality is different but reality itself trundles on the same. And when it comes to the needs and rights and experiences of female bodied people it's the reality not the pretend that is the driving force.

For those of you asking where I live, it’s Sweden. We know a thing or two about women’s rights, as I’m sure you know.

How can there be any women's rights without people standing up to the 'definition' of a woman.

'womens rights' are not women's rights when you have male people wanting them.

JanesLittleGirl · 26/06/2025 22:32

The ability of Sweden to masquerade as a bastion of women's rights while being a patriarchal and male centred society is the ultimate of gaslighting.

So after all this, after almost 500 posts with bugger all engagement from you, this is what it boils down to for you? Trump - bad, so this is bad too? That is seriously lame, although I very much doubt you posted in good faith in the first place.

This is an example of shallow, narrow-minded, politically purist tribalism. You know sometimes the right and the left agree, right? Germaine Greer and many other feminists agree with us. Are they right wing, too?

Hitler was a vegetarian who loved dogs. Does that mean that should give vegetarians and dog lovers pause for thought?

Grow up.

The “Trump agrees with you on this, therefore it’s bad” argument is one of the most stupid in a crowded field.

Yes, it's so immature and lacking any actual thought. These people have the reasoning ability of a 5 year old. 'badies' and 'goodies'. If the 'baddie' thinks something is good, then it automatically must be bad. These people are too dumb to even breathe. They live in a narrow-minded, shallow, ignorant 'good vs bad' echo chamber. I don't know how they navigate day to day life.

You have access to the internet, presumably? And your English seems pretty spot on, so you clearly understand the topic, and unless you’ve been living under a rock, you’ll have seen recent news surrounding male cross dressers in female prisons, and male cross dressers attempting to get women suspended and fired from their jobs for preferring to get changed away from cross dressing men who appear to take delight in making women feel uncomfortable? In which case, you’ll also be acutely aware that women wanting their own spaces away from cross dressing men is simply a normal requirement when in a state of undress and vulnerability. How can any sane person possibly think that’s anything other than self preservation?

Have you ever looked into the men who are considered the ‘fathers’ of gender identity theory and are ‘on the side of transgender identities being prioritised’?

I suggest before you continue with the paltry argument of guilt by association style ‘look at who else supports the prioritisation of sex over gender when sex matters’ you might look at the two men who really started gender identity theory and also the one who was considered a founder of queer theory.

Anyway, please look up John Money and Michel Foucault.

If you cannot give considered answers and resort to guilt by association such as you have with this distraction of Trump, I think you really have run out of compelling arguments.

And it seems remarkable to side with a male person who is seeking to control what female people discuss. Even to the point of mentioning that the ‘feminist chat’ board is so quiet, while being ignorant of why that is so. Because sex based rights generally are the main thrust of feminism. And if you cannot define woman and girl, you cannot protect the rights that they need.

But sure…. feminism chat is ‘pretty dead’. Like that means anything. Because most regular posters will simply post non ‘sex and gender’ posts on this board for traffic. Because ‘Sex and Gender’ underpins most feminist discussion. How the fuck can you discuss female opression without understanding sexism and negative sexist discrimination. All part of ‘sex and gender’. That accusation was ignorant and showed how little the poster, a male poster from Reddit (i believe, happy to be corrected here) on a feminism board, understands the needs of female people. And why the fuck is a male poster telling any female person what they should be focusing their attention on ?

And you agree with that male poster.

And seem to think your shaming post about Trump was even relevant and meaningful.

lcakethereforeIam · 27/06/2025 00:41

Nrtft I think 'anti-trans' is important to trans activists because it centres them, allows them to paint tp as the victims. Acknowledging that it's not about them, it's about the rights of women to dignity, fairness and safety would completely burst their narcissistic bubble. Obviously NATPALT.

ScathingAngelAgrona · 27/06/2025 05:32

Why is anti-women so important? Why are males ‘needs’ so important? Why do ‘trans’ desires more important than other peoples?

Why are women's’ safety, dignity, rights, so unimportant to those trying to destroy the rights we fought for?

If we are going to go for who is on what side.
You should probably have a look at some of the people that are supporting your side and some of the people that are being supported.

Or you could actually try and argue the points being made with science and facts if you can find any.

I hope you got mine about Sweden's sterilisation program. That's a feminist issue. Intersectional feminism, since it was partly about class and race.
