Why bring attention to it? Playing in to their hands

Soubriquet · 22/06/2025 16:01

Cos I’m genuinely interested to see what other people think.

Good luck to them. Noone cares. They are in the correct category, body modification on display or not. It has about as much bearing on his qualification to swim in the female category as the presence of face tattoos or earlobe stretching discs.

SansOgm · 22/06/2025 16:03

Having to swim with men in the same way he had to cut through the girl's changing room at that swimming meet? This poor man is constantly being forced to do stuff!

Soubriquet · 22/06/2025 16:04

I absolutely agree they are in the right category, but I also slightly agree with what they are saying. Technically it IS a women’s swim suit…

To be clear, I'm happy to talk about it. The 'nobody cares' sentiment is that their stupid protest won't win a single mind over to their cause. Mostly because their cause is bollox. Or prioritising of those born with them.

BuckaDuck · 22/06/2025 16:04

Given the heat in the UK all I saw yesterday was topless men some with moobs some without.
I dont really have any thoughts on topless blokes to be honest.

PriOn1 · 22/06/2025 16:04

Prick News ran the same story with a “stock photo” of the suntanned back of a young, slim topless woman beside a swimming pool. The contrasting photos were all over Twix a day or two back.

I wonder if he wore the wig to swim. If not, it’s quite likely nobody would have noticed unless he deliberately drew attention to himself.

Mt563 · 22/06/2025 16:05

Well male nipples and moobs aren't offensive it seems online so nothing to note here

Reallybadidea · 22/06/2025 16:06

So just like all the other men he was swimming with then?

Edited

Yeah I tried to make sure I found a link OTHER than them.

Why do all the newspaper reports about this man use stock photos of actual women.

This report did state "not the actual photo" but why bother with the misleading stock photos

Trans swimmer goes topless to protest having to swim with men
ANameChangePresents · 22/06/2025 16:08

Aside:

The sooner we see this cyberpunk dystopia of body modification deification for what it is, the better. Honestly. It's a biological male (i.e. man) who has some sort of mental ideation inspiring him to have silicone breasts implanted. I'll give it same kudos as liposuction for anorexics.

thirdfiddle · 22/06/2025 16:08

Being permitted to wear a women's cossie in the men's competition seems to me like exactly the sort of reasonable accommodation that could be made if this person actually had dysphoria and wanted to be seen as more womanly.

Unsightly as moobs may be, there are plenty on show at the swimming pool every weekend, just unusual to see in a competitive scenario and definitely won't help his hydrodynamics. (Nearly said aerodynamics, but I assume they won't be flying much!)

Male, told they could wear a swimsuit but chose not to. Can't see a problem.

BuckaDuck · 22/06/2025 16:10

I cannot imagine anyone batted an eyelid at seeing this male in swim shorts.
Look at this unit! Why was he ever allowed to compete against women?

Thus further demonstrating that he is a man, as he wasn’t challenged as a woman would be for swimming topless

Ah, they had actually made the exception. Entirely the swimmer's choice then.

Just give the fella fellas the right to wear bodysuits if we want to flatten playing fields. Have the guys make the concession for a change.

Although to be honest, as you said, even that's probably unnecessary, as hormone/hydrodynamic modifications will confer more disadvantages than the advantages the suit will grant.

I suppose you might need to cover the edge case of transwomen swimmers who do LITERALLY nothing near sticking on a bit of lippy. We can't gatekeep trans after all.

DiscoBob · 22/06/2025 16:12

Why is a man being topless a protest? Unless you are doing it to antagonise people? But I see that dozens of times a day in Tesco or in the streets.

I don't care if a man goes topless. Whether he has breast tissue naturally, fat moobs, or chose to put silicone on there makes no odds.

Other than if he was trying to 'pass' as female his lack of clothing would only make him look less convincing.

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 22/06/2025 16:13

If it is safe to have male individuals around when female individuals are getting changed/otherwise vulnerable, then by the same token this person will be completely safe swimming topless with the men.

And no-one bats an eyelid at men with big moobs going topless, so why would it matter if a man with artificially created moobs does?

Shetlands · 22/06/2025 16:13

He doesn't mind exposing his false lady-titties but I bet he wouldn't want to show off his very male todger to the cameras!

Man boobs are on display on beaches around the world, so nothing to see here.

WallaceinAnderland · 22/06/2025 16:19

All he's done is prove that everyone thinks he he's a man.

Men go topless all the time. He was in a man's race, topless like all the other men. No one objected.

If it had really been a topless woman in a man's race then there would have been uproar.
