Yes. The tras appear to take everything women say and reverse it wholesale. This appears to have been their main strategy for years and to an extent it works as to the uninformed bystander it becomes a ‘he said, she said’ scenario. Who is telling the truth?

It’s only when you ask a few questions it becomes blindingly obvious. They rely on people being lazy or too busy to pay attention.

One of life’s mysteries is whether or not this is a deliberate : thought out strategy. I’m not convinced it is.

One of my hypotheses is that this is a feature of their narcissism - so whatever GC’s experience as injustice, wins or predictions, they claim these as their own …….because they are the centre of the universe.

Go Maxine! She’s in possession of a fine eye roll.

There was a link on a thread some months (possibly longer) ago to a strategy document that was about adopting TERF language to use it against women. So if TERFs talked about gender ideology TRAs should start using the phrase GC ideology, if TERFs use biological woman then TIMs should describe themselves as biological women a la Dr Upton ,essentially linguistic DARVO

I can't remember who produced the document but it wasn't Denton

Katy Montgomerie refers to himself as a biological woman. That's their new angle.

Thanks Spanna. I missed that one. It sounds interesting!

Sorry, "biological female". They think that taking hormones changes them into women. (Or at least they say they do...)

WhatterySquash · 22/06/2025 13:54

But if that's what they think, why do they also think that the mere act of saying "I'm a woman" makes a male a woman? TRAs don't say that people aren't really trans unless they've had all the surgery and take all the hormones. They believe in self-ID and "you are what you say you are".

WhatterySquash · 22/06/2025 13:55

(Not arguing with PPs BTW - just pondering the illogical nonsense.)

Yes, I may have given them too much credit although the document Spannasaurus mentions sounds intriguing.

It does underline their utter lack of argument and the parasitic nature of the ideology.

Grammarnut · 22/06/2025 14:16

She corrected 'people' to 'women' - good for her and also she made the point more understandable. 'Pregnant people' is obscure and opaque - many will not understand that it means them.

Womblingmerrily · 22/06/2025 14:21

Thank you Martine for your act of courage.

Yes, you're right. There is a combination of "But we are women", and therefore we are biological women", and "Hormones literally change our biology, therefore we are now biological women". I've seen both approaches/claims.

Nobody expects consistency from them 😆

This a good question to ask. Personally, I think it is a number of factors. First as you say it is about numbers. Secondly, I think tone of voice makes a big difference. The interview with HH would have been difficult for HH but the tone of voice was calm throughout. I don’t think WEC was the same.

@Brainworm
The main thing for me was that the WEC questioners were uninformed. Their attitude was hostile, their questions were just silly. MC was fairly neutral with HH (from memory) and not hostile - just not fawning. Her questions were informed and related to what HH had just said.

Going by my recollection here, obvs.

Oh God "we are pregnant" is awful.
When I was pregnant, a nurse said something like "you and your husband are pregnant". I said "Im pregnant but I dont think my husband is". The nurse just looked at and my husband said he didnt understand why I was upset about it. I pointed out that it was me doing the work, it was my body, it was me who was having to not eat brie. He was actually insulted! I still dont think he "gets it".

it was me who was having to not eat brie.

Now that would have been a deal-breaker for me.
Baby? Cheese?
I choose cheese. Every time.

Thanks CoolforCats.

I agree with your take on the WEC debacle. My understanding is that the ‘other side’ claim that Sarah Owens was beyond reasonable in her patience because Baroness Faulkner was filibustering. They claim that when she arrived, she gave a hard deadline by which she had to leave, and then, gave very long answers that didn’t address the questions posed and used up all the time available on irrelevant detail. This is the justification provided for the interruptions and irritation. If the shoe was on the other foot and the EHRC guidance played fast and loose with the ruling whereby they were leaving loopholes for allowing transwomen in female provision - I would have sympathy for a chair getting frustrated and interrupting if this wasn’t being addressed.

The bit I don’t get is what answers they sought that they didn’t get? There were questions that she redirected to the government and the courts, because they related to issues outside of the EHRC’s remit. Beyond that, I am baffled.

I tend to think it’s a case of failing to differentiate between determining an answer to be unsatisfactory because (a) it wasn’t answered and (b) they disagree with the answer. I expect they were expecting their views to be affirmed and failure to do this reflected a ‘non answer’.

If this isn’t the case, I would love to know what questions they feel haven’t been answered and do these could be provided. Getting to a place of ‘both sides’ properly understanding each others position and recognising where and why there is disagreement would reflect great progress!

Yes, you're right. The questions were essentially an invitation for her to admit her guilt.

I expect the wet behind the ears bbc junior employees who have to process incoming comments are rolling their eyes right now at all the bigotry. But it's worth it to demonstrate how popular she is: hopefully the bbc won't put her on the naughty step again.

Livelovebehappy · 22/06/2025 15:50

Herbert seems to be floundering in the interview. I think he had a script in his head but once he had other questions fired at him he just couldn't cope. Intelligent he isn't....

Oh good! That doesn’t leave any wriggle room for politeness like TWAW does. They’ll be peaking people all over the biological place 🤣

Justneedabookto · 22/06/2025 13:32

Why on earth would women who aren’t pregnant need to take more care than men?

No idea why. I just wondered if they had found/come up with some sort of statistic that gave them a more dramatic headline. Even the BBC can do clickbait sometimes.

Contrary to the common sense that Martine added, they could even have found a cod scientist who has 'proven' that TW are somehow more at risk than other men, ergo, because they assume that TWAW is a 'fact', that means that women may technically bear a tiny extra element of risk in their minds - but only the very special kind of 'woman'.

They always seem to find ways to portray themselves as vulnerable or victims, or just as so much more special than everybody else, so who knows what they might have come up with this time?

summerlovingvibes · 22/06/2025 21:02
