Hi all,

Just flagging this for any lesbian or bi women who’ve felt pushed out of Pride, or like something’s quietly disappeared.

We’re organising a lesbian and bisexual women-only march on Saturday 5th July in central London. It’s the same day as the main Pride event – but we’re not part of their route, and we’re not affiliated.

Time: 11.00 AM
Meeting point: Emmeline Pankhurst Statue, Victoria Tower Gardens South (by Parliament)
Route: Walk to Parliament Square for a few short speeches, then back to the park for a picnic (or a nearby pub if it rains)

No men. No brands. No pressure.
Just women. In public. Without compromise.

It’s fully self-funded. All permits, insurance, stewards and first aid are covered.

RSVP now
Click “Attend” – even if you’re only thinking of coming. It helps us plan and it shows other women that this space is real.
New faces always welcome.
Meetup

If you’re coming alone or feeling nervous, join our entry WhatsApp group – we’ll look after you:
chat.whatsapp.com/FCsLSOzgV4C2yUGplyQr5m
(This is our public group – open to everyone before vetting. The private WhatsApp spaces are strictly filtered. Only verified, registered women are added after screening. To move into those, register and complete sex verification here: thelcommunity.com)

If you want to understand the story behind why this is needed:

They didn’t make space for us. So we did.

My question hasn't been answered. In recent years we have seen several times, including online communities such as now-banned reddit subs for example, so called "lesbian" events that in practice turn out to be nothing to do with being lesbian and are only about anti-trans activism.

If this is the case and it's basically just another KJK thing then it's only fair a counter protest can be present so all views are heard?

So your lot can rock up with men in balaclavas and others holding “Decapitate TERFs” type of placards? Just so the public can be aware of how this counter demo may go …

Shedmistress · 16/06/2025 15:53

Why would anyone want to 'counter protest' women who are lesbians? That they won't sleep with men? That's pretty rapey. What vile sort of creature would even consider such a thing?

cariadlet · 16/06/2025 15:54

I'm excluded because I'm a straight woman but I think it's fantastic that lesbians and bisexual women have a chance to celebrate Pride away from straight people and away from men.

I'll share the event with my lesbian friends.

It says it’s women only so bisexual men are not invited.

Whether there will be a counter protest from then seems to be unknown.

Teaandtoastserveddaily · 16/06/2025 15:52

A counter protest for what exactly? To try and hassle lesbians into sex with men?

Piss off.

Ratzon · 16/06/2025 15:57

Glad to see you can have your single sex event

Teaandtoastserveddaily · 16/06/2025 15:57

Christinapple · 16/06/2025 14:41

"what are you planning?"

Nothing. Just trying to establish if this event will be similar in nature to the KJK anti-trans hate rallies (as described by NZ media I believe).

If people are actually going to be using megaphones to screech hatred against trans people and anyone who supports them it would be (just a suggestion) more balanced if some LGBT supporters were there also to peacefully show there is also support for LGBT people. You know, free speech for everyone?

Facts aren't hatred.

Men can't be lesbians. Lesbians shouldn't be coerced into accepting men into their spaces.

Trans people aren't victims and they have all the same rights everyone else has. What they don't have is the right to compell others to go along with their delusions.

Saying that isn't hatred.

Try reading the OP again, as your reading comprehension seems a bit sub par.

It's not a protest.

It's nothing to do with transpeople (and that's the real issue, isn't it?)

Male supremacists are so predictable.

'Lesbians just haven't tried the right dick yet'.

Sounds very much like homophobia to me.

There's a meme for that:

It appears that me saying it’s for lesbians and possibly bi males is not tolerated on MN 🤷‍♀️
Here’s me trying to be all ‘woke’ and get deleted 🤣

ApocalipstickNow · 16/06/2025 16:00

It literally says it in the opening post.

Feelingleftoutagain · 16/06/2025 16:00

I am beginning to think that transwomen have FOMO, it's crazy, that they will protest about women. To all the people who are attending have fun, unfortunately as a straight woman I can't

WandaSiri · 16/06/2025 16:01

Waitingfordoggo · 16/06/2025 15:40

@AidaP is reminding me of all the misogynists I saw commenting on a FB article this morning. They were really angry that some vulnerable and disadvantaged women are going to be getting a women-only housing block somewhere in West London. The comment section was a binfire of ‘What about the Menz?’ ‘This is discrimination!’ etc.

There are a significant number of men who will not ever accept women having things for themselves. It was a depressing moment when I realised most of these men are never going to change.

All we can do is endeavour to raise our sons to be better men than these spiteful, rage-filled misogynists.

Ironically, men are not excluded. Anyone identifying as a woman, apparently. Unlawful discrimination but in practice any man could claim to identify and be eligible.

Waitingfordoggo · 16/06/2025 16:01

@AidaP, you can’t have a ‘counter protest’ against something that isn’t a protest. It’s a picnic. So what you are proposing is a protest, not a counter-protest. If you are planning a protest, you had better make sure you’re clear on what it is you are protesting:

Lesbians gathering for picnics.

The only possible reasons to protest such a thing are homophobia and misogyny.

BackToLurk · 16/06/2025 16:03

If @Christinapple and @AidaP wanted to demonstrate that the 'trans rights don't affect what anyone else does' stuff was a load of bollocks, I'm not sure they could have done it better. Well done chaps.

Kingsleadhat · 16/06/2025 16:05

Wishing you a wonderful, peaceful pride. Xx

Counter picnic?

Different coloured blankets and different flavoured quiche?

BernardBlacksMolluscs · 16/06/2025 16:08

I’m not included because I’m a straight woman, and thus far have managed not to lose my shit and threaten to turn up and shout at some Lesbians and Bisexual women having a picnic.

Amazing. I think I’m going to be able to maintain this level of self control right up until after the event

hope you have a lot of fun. It’s great to see women out and proud and organising

soupyspoon · 16/06/2025 16:09

WallaceinAnderland · 16/06/2025 15:51

Is this a gender critical event is about as relevant asking is this a vegetarian event.

I think this is a really good analogy actually

Its like the Apple Growers association holding a celebration of UK apples and the Potato Growers association getting the arsehole because they're not included

Its not about you potatoes!!!

RedToothBrush · 16/06/2025 16:17

A march for lesbians and bi-sexual women is open to lesbians, bi-sexual women and transmen who are attracted to females.

This is therefore trans inclusive. Just not male inclusive because sexual attraction of females to females is the point.

HTH.

WallaceinAnderland · 16/06/2025 16:20

Actually, vegetarian is probably more relevant, considering the picnic options.

Just saying.

For fuck's sake.

The first bloody reply. Have yet to read the thread but for crying out loud Chris, get a grip. Lesbians are a diverse bunch of women, and they are not all about your precious bloody men .

Women actually have lives too.
