Lesbian Pride March – Saturday 5th July – Women Only (London)

Hi all,

Just flagging this for any lesbian or bi women who’ve felt pushed out of Pride, or like something’s quietly disappeared.

We’re organising a lesbian and bisexual women-only march on Saturday 5th July in central London. It’s the same day as the main Pride event – but we’re not part of their route, and we’re not affiliated.

Time: 11.00 AM
Meeting point: Emmeline Pankhurst Statue, Victoria Tower Gardens South (by Parliament)
Route: Walk to Parliament Square for a few short speeches, then back to the park for a picnic (or a nearby pub if it rains)

No men. No brands. No pressure.
Just women. In public. Without compromise.

It’s fully self-funded. All permits, insurance, stewards and first aid are covered.

Why would anyone want to 'counter protest' women who are lesbians? That they won't sleep with men? That's pretty rapey. What vile sort of creature would even consider such a thing?

I'm excluded because I'm a straight woman but I think it's fantastic that lesbians and bisexual women have a chance to celebrate Pride away from straight people and away from men.

I'll share the event with my lesbian friends.

It says it’s women only so bisexual men are not invited.

Whether there will be a counter protest from then seems to be unknown.

Facts aren't hatred.

Men can't be lesbians. Lesbians shouldn't be coerced into accepting men into their spaces.

Trans people aren't victims and they have all the same rights everyone else has. What they don't have is the right to compell others to go along with their delusions.

Ironically, men are not excluded. Anyone identifying as a woman, apparently. Unlawful discrimination but in practice any man could claim to identify and be eligible.

@AidaP, you can’t have a ‘counter protest’ against something that isn’t a protest. It’s a picnic. So what you are proposing is a protest, not a counter-protest. If you are planning a protest, you had better make sure you’re clear on what it is you are protesting:

The only possible reasons to protest such a thing are homophobia and misogyny.

If @Christinapple and @AidaP wanted to demonstrate that the 'trans rights don't affect what anyone else does' stuff was a load of bollocks, I'm not sure they could have done it better. Well done chaps.

A march for lesbians and bi-sexual women is open to lesbians, bi-sexual women and transmen who are attracted to females.

This is therefore trans inclusive. Just not male inclusive because sexual attraction of females to females is the point.
