Simone Biles attacks Riley Gaines

Simone Biles has come out in defence of males in women's sports, and has attacked Riley Gaines for fighting against it. She said on Twitter:

You’re truly sick, all of this campaigning because you lost a race. Straight up sore loser. You should be uplifting the trans community and perhaps finding a way to make sports inclusive OR creating a new avenue where trans feel safe in sports. Maybe a transgender category IN ALL sports!! But instead… You bully them… One things for sure is no one in sports is safe with you around!!!!!"

So, so disappointing. Both my daughters do gymnastics and are huge SB fans, so it is awful for her to show such contempt towards RG, who is fighting for a level playing field for women and girls in sport. And to suggest a separate category as if nobody has ever thought of that and tried it 🤦🏻‍♀️

I just can’t get my head around this. Riley has the body of a woman because she IS a woman. The trans swimmer who beat her looks and is a built like a man as she is in fact biologically a man.
How can you argue rights against biology? Of course a female swimmer will be at a disadvantage to a male swimmer as they are biologically built differently.
Simone is being ridiculous - maybe she hasn’t been threatened by other gymnasts’ heights as she is so confident in her ability. However, I can’t see how you could have trans gymnasts in either women’s or men’s artistic gymnastics! For example a biological woman could never match the strength needed for some of the men’s skills!

It seems a bit personal, especially Biles' comments about Gaines' size.

As pp have said, the reason Trump won is due to the weakness of the left and the fact that people didn’t see them as trustworthy and electable. Attacking RG in such a silly way isn’t going to change that, it’s more likely to make it worse. And I don’t give a fuck how many medals she has.

I suppose it's the difference between rational people who believe that there should be plurality of views in a democratic society (even if you disagree with those views) and those who want to shut down any opposing view, as seen in the TRA stance of 'no debate'.

I mean, having quite a bit of experience with the left activist world, I can tell you that left wing politics abounds in (a) extremely dodgy men, (b) handmaidens who will defend those dodgy men under any circumstances, and (c) if you're unwilling to turn a blind eye to the dodgy men, you will be called a nazi.

Well… I would trust that Sharron would know what she was talking about with regards to protecting women’s sports, and likely not listen much to what she says about Reform unless it was another issue that maybe Reform was discussing that was supported with studies and facts. Then I would listen, do my own research and work out my position.

Riley’s “alleged support of the far right” …. that’s the multiple appearances on every far right TV show and podcast cast actively campaigning for MAGA candidates. That’s standing up and speaking at “grab ‘em by the pussy’s” political rallies. That’s campaigning for Paul Rund reelection. That “alleged” support.

The only other US sporting champion I can think of who's supported Martina Navratilova is Chris Evert. But I don't know her voting habits or whether they'd be acceptable to the pure in heart.

I wouldn’t know if it’s only one comment because I clearly don’t follow SB’s movements in the way you clearly do with RG, a bit obsessively if you don’t mind me saying.

My politics are very left wing and yet I can acknowledge that historically, Kemi Badenoch has been great at defending women's rights and fighting for our rights to single sex spaces and clear language.

There is very little else I agree with Kemi on. And I thought she was way off the mark with her speech regarding maternity leave.

The fact that we are diametrically opposed politically doesn't mean I can't applaud her stance on women's rights, and appreciate the work she's done in this area.

Kellie Jay Keene is another example. I'm not a fan of her politics but she's a fucking warrior when it comes to fighting for women's rights.

Same with Riley Gaines.

I don't have to like the fact she's MAGA or agree with the rest of her politics to appreciate the fact that she's willing to stand up for the rights of women to be safe, and to compete fairly in sport.

If the orange toddler himself comes out with a speech tomorrow about the importance of finding a cure for cancer, am I supposed to disagree just because it's Trump, and we all know he's a vile, corrupt, misogynistic sexual offender?

Simone Biles (appropriate name) defended a women's team that won with transgender participants. She attacked Riley's appearance, mocked her athletic record, and suggested that women have to find solutions that appease men - while steadfastly being ignorant of the fact that women have TRIED but nothing other than dominating women, removing their rights, and taking their spaces is good enough for some.

You don't have to like ANYTHING about Riley Gaines to agree that Biles' behaviour is absolutely disgusting.
