Guess we'll finally find out whether Imane Khelif is female or not. I suspect he will avoid the testing "out of principle" 🤭

I suspect that’s all we will hear from the BBC about it.

lcakethereforeIam · 05/06/2025 11:52

Pesky rules eh! If only we didn't have to follow them. Imagine what a draw Mike Tyson would have been. Sure he's getting on but nothing a wig and some lippy wouldn't cover.

I hope this doesn't mean any Algerian boxers who are actually women will miss out. The entire team doesn't have to flounce just to spare Khelif's manly blushes.

SabrinaThwaite · 05/06/2025 11:52

”It is always nice to have such champions at your event," says tournament director Jeremie Besson. "But we have to follow the rules of World Boxing.”

So - either no test was performed or the test was performed and Khelif is excluded based on the results?

Interesting approach to pronouns, or lack thereof, by the BBC here.
Imane Khelif: World Boxing apologises for naming Algerian fighter in sex test announcement - BBC Sport

It is interesting how the BBC managed to cover the apology to Khelif but not the leaked test results 🤔

My money is on no new test.

Which is sort of irrelevant as there's one in existence and we've all seen it.

BlueandPinkSwan · 05/06/2025 12:07

Looking at those photosof him there is NO WAY is that a woman in a million years.

BettyBooper · 05/06/2025 12:08

I reckon Khelif's excuse for a no show will be because of hurty feelz from being named in the WBO statement.

And people will continue to lap it up because, apparently, men's hurty feelz Trump Absolutely Everything In The World.

KeepTalkingBeth · 05/06/2025 12:08

I'm sure IK and her team will be on line soon to explain. The fans await eagerly so JKR can be humbled and all the trumpy bigots can be silenced once and for all <sarcasm>

Either that, or "she has nothing to prove, leave her alone"

Him: You're arguing for my friends to have their rights taken away, this is the absolute gentlest level of pushback you should expect.

Me: What rights don't trans people have? Meanwhile you are giving my rights away. If you are so bothered about trans women being hurt / raped in men's toilets why don't you and other men do something about it? Women had to fight for everything whether that was toilets (and then women had to pay, men didn't) to equal pay, to voting rights, to everything how dare you take those rights away? You have dismissed the biological men who have had access to vulnerable women as, "a couple of rapists", you care more about the hypothetical rape of a trans woman than you do about the women and children raped by biological men. I think that tells me all I need to know about you.

And here we have it 😂

'Irreparable psychological damage'. 🙄 My eyes can't roll back far enough.

He can take it like a man.

'Doctors who follow her' makes them sound like followers on X, not doctors conducting tests and dealing with health care.

It can't be more than an ounce of what the women at the Olympics suffered.

Yeah but they're actually women so they don't count. Amazing how everyone can always tell who the women are when it suits them.

Wearing my finest shiny tin foil hat, I wonder if they named him specifically to give him an excuse not to fail a test. So a stitch up in which they were prepared to take the flak.

Crikey!

Nothing like the hurt feelings versus taking responsibility for making deliberated choices that harmed female athletes, eh?

Yeah, it feels like a warning that they aren't going to cover for him. A clear shift from them.

That’s Steve Scott - remember he’s the guy that did the fawning interviews with Emily Bridges.

LadyBracknellsHandbagg · 05/06/2025 12:29

All of the ‘psychological damage’ could be dealt with by Imane Khelif undergoing a test that proves he’s not a man. He could then continue to box, sue JKR, and we would all have to accept we were wrong. It would be a win win for him.

But we all know that isn’t going to happen. Because he knows he’s a man, his team knows he’s a man and the IOC knows he’s a man. This way they can all continue to collude against women.

But the hurry feelings of men are SO much more important than women being punched in the face.

Datun · 05/06/2025 12:40

In a letter the Federation President said the “consequences are immeasurable."

yes, women will no longer be putting their lives at risk.

He added that the statement had internationally harmed “our national sports movement” and that Khelif was not given “the right to defend herself” nor did World Boxing “hear from the doctors specialising in endocrinology who follow her.”

Go on then!

GermaineBloodyGreer · 05/06/2025 12:44

At the end of the day Imane's hurt feelings will always take precedence over the women he's cheated against.

It's baffling (not really) that so many men have sympathy for the man being called out for what he is—a man—and not the women he's battered, or the women he might batter. A bloke I'm ashamed to know offline told me the other day that it's a 'messed up what they're doing to her, even if she is male'.

I wanted to bang my head against the wall.

Indeed! Khelif's had nine months to 'defend herself' by doing a cheeky swab!

Anyone going along with this at this point has lost their mind. What possible excuse is there for Khelif not having done a cheeky swab by now??!

It just goes to show that none of them think this is an actual woman.

None of them would lose their shit over a woman in this way.

And if I recall correctly, the IBA said, when Khelif failed the previous tests, that they'd pay for Khelif's appeal to the Swiss sporty court - if Khelif wanted to claim that the disqualification due to the failed sex test was somehow unfair.
