Guess we'll finally find out whether Imane Khelif is female or not. I suspect he will avoid the testing "out of principle" 🤭

@sashh Of course he’ll ignore anything he can’t actually answer.

It’s reminded me though - has Joanna Harper actually published that paper on Emily Bridges yet?

sashh · 03/06/2025 10:10

@SabrinaThwaite He actually does have a PHD. and Works for a uni in a STEM department. Apparently most STEM people support 'Trans Rights'.

I've asked a few questions which he has ignored.

I suppose if your funding depends on agreeing with what the DEI people tell you is the correct opinion (and you saw what happened to Kathleen Stock and Jo Phoenix) then nobody will ever publicly object to this opinion.
I knew someone (a Wee Free) who did a biochemistry/genetics PhD at one of the top UK universities so she could argue for creationism with the authority of a biology PhD in her CV.

SabrinaThwaite · 03/06/2025 10:36

I’ve listened to creationists lecturing on palaeontology. That was quite the education.

Vegemiteandhoneyontoast · 03/06/2025 10:40

@sashh my MP hasn't yet replied to the short one I sent him last week in response to his long email about trans people, which didn't mention women at all.

ThatCyanCat · 03/06/2025 10:42

You know they know TW aren't women and that there's an athletic advantage because they never, ever call to abolish the women's division in sport and just make the whole thing totally open, which would make far more sense if what they were saying was true. They want to keep the women's tournaments purely to affirm men and give medals to shit males. Ask them about it, you'll hear them say in one breath that there's no such thing as male advantage, and in the next breath that TW must compete as women or else it isn't fair to them.

You cannot expect reason or honesty or logic or consistency. They're mad. They're fucking mad.

I haven't had a creationism discussion for years. They used to be everywhere for a while.

So Russia went to all this trouble to dupe the world because Khelif beat a Russian once? Crikey indeed, and that person thinks it’s us who are blind. Bonkers.

It really was always a deeply batshit conspiracy theory, that doesn’t add up when you look at the dates.

I don't think the average Redditor has ever seen any woman up close who wasn't his mother throwing some food in through the basement door.

I've seen many people argue that the only reason that sport is sex segregated is that men are too frightened to get beaten by a woman. That it's misogyny to think that men will always beat women in physical contests (typically some weedy young man will claim that he knows a woman who could definitely beat him in a martial art - something that probably isn't true and is definitely completely irrelevant). Remember the idea that women just don't train hard enough?

I bet some fanatics actually would definitely like to see sex segregation in sports abolished! Never underestimate the level of delusion a human can attain.

sashh · 03/06/2025 10:57

I'm quite angry but I am also slightly amused, apparently I should shut up because someone in my family might be trans.

And he has asked if I know any trans people because he does. Well yes as a matter of fact while he was still in primary I was a HCP and we had trans patients, who, as I said were treated with dignity and politeness but we had to set the equipment to the sex they were born with.

Datun · 03/06/2025 10:58

It's almost amusing to watch transactivists defend their position. It's a conspiracy, men aren't really stronger than women, I don't believe in the test results.

What's fascinating is seeing other people really hearing all this batshit for the first time.

Like everyone else, they've gone along thinking there must be more to it than this. And when they realise that no, there really, really isn't, it's a bit of a shock.

And then when they understand what the arguments actually are, that, fingers in ears, we can't hear it, but even if we do hear it, you're wrong, and even if you're right, it doesn't matter.

That's when they realise they've been duped.

Not just by transactivists, but by everyone who let them get away with it.

Yes, because we could never compare the race times and length of long jumps to see whether women beat men!

They do want to see sex segregation in sports banned; that's the point of TW in women's sports. What they don't want is any honest language to reflect that because women's spaces have to remain as affirmation tools for men. We don't know what a woman is but we know a man is a woman if he says so. Sex doesn't exist but we need sex specific spaces so men can claim they're women.

I never realised just how much lying and pretzelling so many people would do for male supremacism.

Datun · 03/06/2025 11:13

They do want to see sex segregation in sports banned;

Exactly. But just for them, because otherwise they lose the advantage.

I never realised just how much lying and pretzelling so many people would do for male supremacism.

same. It's really interesting to see how they will shoehorn in sexism under any other label. Because these days, they can't be openly sexist. They can no longer openly state that women don't matter, that no one cares, that it's just women.

So it's all a bloody conspiracy, the science is wrong, you're being rude, unkind, weaponising trauma, etc.

Oh dear Lord.

I wonder if these people genuinely think I'm going to say all this, because I don't think he will actually go through with the test testing, so I can continue to say it because nothing will be proven.

Surely they can't genuinely believe it's a fake.

They're just crossing their fingers and hoping they'll never be proved wrong unequivocally.

ThatCyanCat · 03/06/2025 11:20

Ereshkigalangcleg · 03/06/2025 11:14

Ah, some of you aren't familiar with Silly Hines, I see.

Lemonz · 03/06/2025 11:24

I know exactly what you mean and it's largely true, most of these voices call for women's categories that include a few special men, I'm just saying there are different strains of madness here. Some people are straight up proposing that sporting categories should based on height, weight or whatever without any reference to sex, or even that all sports should be completely open, that both sex and gender are so nebulous as to be irrelevant to sport. They are on the fringe of what is already a bunch of people living in their own alternative reality, but they do exist.

They are not serious people with any influence over anything, so it's not worth worrying about them, but you can never find anything that is so delusional nobody will argue for it.

Latest comment and my reply.

OK, let's talk about question three shall we? So you're terribly concerned about cis women being raped by trans women in women's prisons. Great. But your solution to that is apparently to move all the trans women — whether they have hurt anyone or not — into a men's prison. What do you think will happen to them there? What do you think will happen to the trans women you force into men's toilets? You can't simultaneously argue that segregating them is important for women's safety and that they'll be perfectly safe in men's spaces, so I have to assume you simply don't care if trans women get hurt.

My reply

OK Question 3. But before that, why do you keep using the slur 'cis' I have asked you not to several times. Answer to Q 3I am concerned about all rapes, it should not happen to anyone. It certainly should not be happening in a single sex space like a hospital ward or a prison. Anyone convicted of rape should not be in a women's prison. You do know that legally rape in this country require a penis don't you? Anyone with a penis should not be in women's spaces. Trans women are biologically male, they should be in male prisons and there should be trans wings, that is actually something the prison service is looking at providing. Men's toilets, this old chestnut, really? We send 10 year old boys in to the men's toilets are they at risk of being raped? Do you really think so little of men, including yourself, that a trans woman walking in to a toilet is going to turn you in to a rapist? As I think you know I have quite a weak bladder which means sometimes when there is a queue at the women's I use the men's. And I am safe. I have had a man volunteer to stand outside the door to stop any men coming in. I am there as a guest, I don't demand to go in I ask if it is OK before even opening the door. You want me, a biological female to put up with men in single sex spaces, and biologically they are men, and you don't think that makes me unsafe? Or uncomfortable? Why? Why not go for a third space? Or make toilets, and some places have these a door that locks into a small room with a toilet, san pro bin, wash basin, paper towels etc so that no one is going in to the 'wrong' toilet. Now back to your first statement, I am more concerned by ACTUAL rape rather than a hypothetical rape.

ArabellaScott · 03/06/2025 12:34

So he's willing to sacrifice women's safety for men's safety.

I think that we need to be clearer on the following ...

Sex must always trump 'gender identity' because it is a scientifically demonstrable, verifiable, objective quality.

'Gender identity' may feel very important to some people, but it is a metaphysical belief about the self. It has no physical, scientific, objective basis. People who do not buy into it as a matter of faith cannot be forced to do so. Because what they will see before them is verifiable, scientifically classifiable man.
