I knew you'd all be keen to hear them.

"It is the responsibility of a feminist to be progressive, to learn from previous waves but to always be pushing towards a new one. “Feminism must be intersectional. Feminism must not be used to bully and berate both cis women and trans people.”

iv been feeling guilty because I’ve used it for the odd genuinely (but unintentionally) funny TRA post. Glad it wasn’t just me!

I do think that if people don’t want me to find them funny then they shouldn’t be ridiculous

GreenFriedTomato · 03/06/2025 03:19

Yes, the laugh react was removed yesterday/today?
I thought I was being punished for laughing at a TRA comment but it's been removed for everyone (bullying or something)
Shame because there are some genuinely funny posts here 😂

There are, but we can still reply with any emoji we want, just publicly instead of covertly.

Apparently it was being used too often as a "scorn laugh". I generally used it for intentionally funny posts but I admit I did also use it on people like that pompous guy who actually cried "shame, shame" on this board at women who didn't want knobs out in the female changing room. Je ne regrette rien.

Y'know, so what if it was, really, once in a while? Is this not a bit snowflakey by MNHQ? Seems kinda like policing people's manners to me.

There were multiple threads on Site Stuff about it. Maybe take a look there for the reasons rather than derailing this one?

You would have thought that trying to control communication - be it language, emojis, or flags - is a waste of everyones time.

It's a shame not to have the laugh button when discussing Jolyon, but I suppose we can get creative.

I wasn't sure whether to post this here or start a new thread. I haven't been able to bring myself to read it yet

www.theguardian.com/music/2025/jun/03/british-feminism-needs-reshaping-kate-nash-on-her-new-single-about-trans-rights

ThatCyanCat · 03/06/2025 15:20

Kate Nash is still a thing? I forgot all about her. Haven't heard anything about her for about 20 years. They were good years. What's she wading into this for, did Lily Allen do it first as usual?

ArabellaScott · 03/06/2025 15:23

The article is just quite sad, really. Clearly she's courting controversy in an effort to raise her profile.

'The decision to sell her pictures online drew criticism, with people accusing Nash of being a bad influence on young girls. “I’m a fantastic influence for young girls,” she counters. “I’ve fought my entire career for young women – representation is extremely important to me.” The photos were also a way of taking control of her sexuality. As an actor on Netflix series Glow, “I’ve been naked on TV,” she says. “I’ve simulated a threesome. I use my body all the time on stage to move, to sing, to connect with an audience. But if I’m completely in control of it, that’s ‘wrong’. Is it wrong?'

You are selling the control of your body, that is what the transaction is for.

It was her new song that JM was quoting from that kicked off this thread. But yes I also hadn't heard about her for years. She seems to have some more visibility recently. Cynically wondering if her willingness to shill the feminism that thinks OnlyFans is empowering and women shouldn't have boundaries has anything to do with this resurgence!

And so individualistic - no awareness of how she might have a certain level of protection that other girls and women don't, and that promoting the narratives that our bodies can be bought ----impacts all women and girls!

She's on OnlyFans? How are the shitty derivative "singers" fallen.

Like Lily Allen, funnily enough.

Nash's desperate bid for attention via slagging off other women how very feminist of her magnum opus has 60,000 listens on Spotify. Given level of coverage over last few days, is that good? I listened to about ten seconds. It is shite.

nauticant · 03/06/2025 17:14

Kate Nash's lyrical ability as demonstrate in her new song can be seen here:

I'm mystified how such a massive talent escaped my notice until now.

usedtobeaylis · 03/06/2025 17:29

I can't believe that shit passes for feminism for anyone.

SionnachRuadh · 03/06/2025 17:43

That's like Cliff Clavin crossed with an angry toddler.

Girl!
You say you're radical
But recent studies from John Hopkins University indicate
That you are a poopy pants minger
And you can't sit at the cool kids table.

God he's a creep. Good on her for blocking him. I bet he's never forgiven her for that.

It's so funny the way people lap this shite up on Bluesky. Can they really not see how pompous and insufferable he is?

He has a really creepy habit of asking women to meet him for coffee and chat. Women that proceed to either fob him off or block him. The man gives weirdo stalker vibes

Get the hint jolyon and jog on!

DrudgeJedd · 04/06/2025 07:05

The obsession continues...
Unless he thinks that JKR is the landlord of this office block, then it looks like he's using her name to raise funds and his profile again. The protesters were from the group started by his eldest daughter, they spent most of half-term blocking an accessible access ramp and using a pop-up tent as a loo. But this is such a major defeat for JKR that he had to wizz across London to make a victory video in front of the building (complete with foxy orange t-shirt). Even when he's winning he comes across as a complete loser.

Why is he attacking an individual woman over this? Who is totally unrelated to the organisation involved?
