This year's pride month

Just wondering if anyone thinks it might be different this year?

Last year it felt like you couldn't leave the house in June without encountering rainbow "Love is Love" posters, Tesco sold drag garden gnomes, and bacon lettuce tomato sandwiches turned into LGBT sandwiches in my local shop.

This year some local pride events have reported inadequate funding, and Stonewall have said they are in financial difficulties. But the Supreme Court ruling has also prompted lots of protests, so maybe people will feel motivated to get involved?

Copying over my post from another thread. Relevant to some of the dubious claims on this one.

Apparently in the US gay and lesbian people surveyed recently feel they have more in common with straight people than trans people. And gay and lesbian people are considerably less likely than trans people to feel connected to a broader LGBT “community”. I imagine the same might happen here if asked. Interesting research.
https://www.pewresearch.org/social-trends/2025/05/29/community-friends-and-lgbtq-spaces/

Half of gay or lesbian adults say they have at least a fair amount in common with people who are bisexual (50%). A similar share (51%) say they have a lot in common with people who are straight.
Fewer (28%) say they have a lot in common with people who are transgender.
These figures are based on gay and lesbian adults who are not transgender.

It is perfectly obvious that that post from Stroud Pride was referring to trans exclusionary views.

Quite right that organisations or viewpoints of the likes of the LGB Alliance should be banned. They are anathema of what Pride is about.

Of course those with trans exclusionary views are welcome to their own pride events. Though I think they've tried that and they were all flops. Almost like the vast majority of lesbians, gays and bi people actually want their pride events to be trans inclusive.

Tell me you don't know Pride history without telling me.

It began as Gay Pride. The LGB Alliance are specifically what Pride is (meant to) be about. Not identifiers and spicy straights, LG and B people. The rest are parasites who have destroyed Pride from within.

Once more for people at the back - people can choose whichever sexual partners for whichever reasons they want.

What they can't do is expect to adopt explicitly hostile and exclusionary positions about part of a community, and then object when they are not welcome within that community.

Being gay is exclusionary. It excludes straight people. That's sort of the point. It's a sexuality, not an 'identity'.

LGB had their own Pride for years until the TQA+ highjacked it.At least attempt to get historical facts right before posting.

That must be why efforts at creating trans exclusionary pride events have been such a roaring success. Because all us misguided lesbians are just desperately waiting for the LGB Alliance to restore pride to what it once was.

Being explicitly hostile to and excluding homophobic views from the community is a good thing, isn't it?

Men insisting that they are lesbians should be protested and mocked until they shut up and leave.

It's really absurd to post something like that and accuse others of not getting historical facts right.

Trans people have always been at Pride and a part of Pride. Just taking London alone, Pride has formally been for LGB and Transgender people for thirty years, and of course that is only the length of time that it has been formally recognised. Trans people were there long before that.

Similarly, Queer has always been part of the identity of many LGBT+ people which, again, is why it is a term woven through London pride for decades.

You're welcome to that view.

You're not welcome to insist that others share that view, or to insist that you get to join in an event that has for thirty years - at least - been inclusive of trans people, with an explicit aim of excluding trans people.

Thanks for posting that research showing 68% of gay and lesbian people feel a connection to the LGBTQ community.

Sort of proving my point.

Just how recent do you think trans inclusion is in Pride?

And do you also think pride should exclude bisexual people?

Ah, but all you 'misguided lesbians', could be grandfathers with seven children and 15 grandkids. And even if you're not, you agree that they are!

Plus, PlanetJanette, as this has presumably passed you by entirely, the Supreme Court has confirmed that your attitude absolutely obliterated the equality act (specifically sexual orientation), because I'm afraid, biological sex is rather important when it comes to the equality act.

I know you'd like to abandon it, but sorry, you can't.

Yep - just one of the multitudes of apparently homophobic lesbians.

Funny there was a whole WhatsApp group of us earlier sharing the EHRC consultation, all lining up our homophobic lesbian responses.

I don’t think even you know what point you’re trying to make.

CervixSampler · 04/06/2025 18:53

@Datun I nearly choked on my ice cream at those photos. WW gave me a much needed laugh. Mr hot pink bra is more than just his bra it seems. Each to their own but people used to keep their fetishes private. When did it become the thing to let it all out in public?

Yes im sure it's that, and not at all that TRAs aggressively try to cancel anything that doesn't centre them.

The transpeople at Pride when it was Gay Pride were gay. They were there because they were gay and it was for gay people. As in, same sex attracted. Not straight men trying to make lesbians try their lady dick.

Everyone who's gay is covered by the LG and B. Everyone to the right of the B is just straight people. Straight people have taken over Pride. Congratulations on letting them take something by and for gays and turning it straight.

You've already established that you use the term "lesbian" in a way that includes anyone of any sex or sexual orientation. So this is meaningless.
