It celebrates inclusivity apparently and is the Lord Mayor's proudest moment as the city's Mayor.

Do you seriously think this window will survive? That the provocation will be ignored?

What kind of arsehole destroys a piece of public art because it commemorates and celebrates the fight for gay rights?🤔

I've checked Belfast Live, BBC NI and UTV. Not a mention. I asked teen DC if anything came up on their socials. Nada. Even the OP hasn't come back with where they've seen outrage.

You talk about being silenced, while criticising someone for speaking.
It's a discussion about a slogan on a window.
No agenda, no hate (from me).
Just a discussion about the appropriateness of the slogan being put as a permanent fixture of a public building.
Some people love it, others don't (for various reasons).
But you seem to not want it discussed at all and are now veering towards this thread being a conspiracy to erase the existence of the Lgbtqia+ community.
Perhaps taking a break from FWR might help.

I did come back and said I wasn't outraged. I don't object to the window itself, I just don't like the slogan on it.

Ah...but don't you see...a careful pathway is being laid... It starts with the anti-trans rhetoric and the fraudulent narrative is espoused - where trans people have supposedly taken over Pride...this then justifies hostility towards any signifiers of Pride and gay people by extension. And eventually the homophobia as seen in this thread and others in FWR is legitimised.

It's a carefully curated route which FWR has well honed.

Is this a building that does public tours? What will the tour guide say about this window? (Imo it's a bit horrid but could have been far worse). Wondering what window it replaced and whether there is (say) a women's rights window in the building.

Thank you to @suggestionsplease1 for the phrase 'gay visibility'. It's a bit like trans visibility? Insistence that gay people have to seen and acknowledged applauded all the time? Otherwise it's homo/transphobia. It's not about denying existence it's about denying the spotlight. I had never understood the 'denying our existence' claim before but now I have a better grasp.

I mean, maybe it's educational . . . in a "what's sodomy mummy?/what does that say Harold?" kind of way.

I thought it referred to anal intercourse, but wanted to check, so I googled.
