Ugh. The state of him 🤮

Vulnerable, absolutely. But again, I'm like a broken record, 'vulnerable' does not necessarily equate to harmless.

I hope his wife is okay.

But until a year ago he was a legislator.

I think it's obvious that Wallis is very unwell. Some psychological care, far away from the public gaze, would be best for Wallis.

Oh yes, and a strict restraining order.

It seems to me that the people who sell gender transition as a fix for your mental problems are exactly the same as the online hucksters who sell "one weird trick" that will clear your debts/get you to a healthy BMI/sort out your mental health traumas/make your johnson totally bigger.

Well, like the guy said, there's one born every minute! 😛

If found "unfit to plea" a trial of facts can still take place. But that's completely different to lacking capacity at the time of alleged offences.

Has there been any kind of remorse for the impact their behaviour had on their ex wife? Or is it typical male entitlement.

Editing as missed the BBC article claiming he pled guilty "pragmatically" because of the impact of the trial on his ex wife.

I don't believe that for a second. I presume his lawyer told him he didn't have a chance.

GargoylesofBeelzebub · 23/07/2025 04:35

I wonder what they mean by false passport? Has he changed the name on his passport to his woman name without going through the proper procedure or is it something different?

How odd.

SerfnTerf · 23/07/2025 06:59

Presumably he bought himself a lady passport to avoid traumatising himself by seeing his own name in writing?

ArabellaScott · 23/07/2025 07:04

Looks like 2022, this offence? Was he even out, then?

LadyBracknellsHandbagg · 23/07/2025 07:29

This bloke is a train wreck.

RedToothBrush · 23/07/2025 07:44

False passport? As in he's got a dodgy one off some dodgy blokes down the pub or dodgy as in he's used a fake name without changing his and sex properly. How sensible he's representing himself given the state of his mental health. What could possibly go wrong? The Jared O'Mara comparison is spot on.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 23/07/2025 08:01

I for one would love lots of further reporting on the First Trans MP, I’m sure many would find it interesting.

I'm in complete agreement.

He could legit change his name and sex on a passport, https://www.gov.uk/changing-passport-information/gender.

So I'm going with the former.

Its just a hunch but I think there is a lot to wallaces life that is interesting

Change your name or personal details on your passport

To change your name or other personal details on your passport, send the standard passport application form with evidence about the change

I get the impression from the media coverage that the judge was more than a little concerned about this

HappyNewTaxYear · 23/07/2025 12:58

@PronounssheRa yes, life ‘interesting’ and hard drive even more so …

Just fell down a rabbit hole and wound up reading Wikipedia on William Joyce, Lord Haw Haw

However, the Attorney General, Sir Hartley Shawcross, successfully argued that Joyce's possession of a British passport, even though he had misstated his nationality to get it, entitled him until it expired to British diplomatic protection in Germany and therefore he owed allegiance to the King at the time he began working for the Germans.

The historian A. J. P. Taylor remarked in his book English History 1914–1945 that "Technically, Joyce was hanged for making a false statement when applying for a passport, the usual penalty for which is a small fine."

Shock thankfully for Wallace history is unlikely to repeat itself.

The last line of the BBC story about Wallis and the passport charge is
"Wallis was told to be at court by 09:00 BST on 15 August."

The 15th August was last Friday and I've not seen anything about a hearing.

Does anyone have access to Cardiff Crown Court case lists, to check whether a hearing did take place?

ArabellaScott · 17/08/2025 20:39

You can access court rolls if you register. I had ages ago but prob lost details.

Chersfrozenface · 17/08/2025 21:12

I've registered, but only tomorrow's list is available.

I think past case lists and only be accessed by legal professionals.
