It does happen with landslides, that paper candidates get elected in seats nobody really thought were in contention, and then you ask "who on earth thought this dingbat was a good candidate?"

Jamie Wallis seems to be the last parliament's answer to Jared O'Mara.

Who will be this parliament's answer to Jamie Wallis?

Gosh this will make some TRAs' brains pop won't it: a right wing trans identified person. I wonder whether being tory - and therefore a literal evil fascist - will be excused because he's male and part of the most vulnerable minority, and therefore a very special person?!

Did I imagine India Willoughby being affiliated with the tories? I might be misremembering so definitely don’t take as gospel!

Coatsoff42 · 19/05/2025 16:37

Harassing your ex after she leaves you is such a typically male offence. Could he not have done some shoplifting like a normal woman.

The BBC News story on this case is here.

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/ce3vqxp9nn3o

The BBC uses the pronoun 'their', despite then saying "..is now known as Katie Wallis and uses female pronouns..." Poor old Beeb isn't sure what to do.

How the fuck do they justify sometimes using male pronouns, sometimes respecting their identity, sometimes not?

It's all or nothing, BBC. You can't just choose to 'affirm' the ones you think are nice.

Jared O'Mara. Theres a blast from the past. I wonder what he's doing these days.

Oh yeah. 4 years for fraud.

miraxxx · 19/05/2025 16:41

I think I am wrong about his wife having had a baby around the time of the DUI. I apologise. They had two young children. I felt so much sympathy for her, having this cheating man having sex with random men and being blackmailed etc.

ArabellaScott · 19/05/2025 16:41

My thoughts are with Wallis' ex wife. Poor woman, dear god. What she's been put through, and he still won't fuck off.

Don't know about that, but I do know the UK's first trans parliamentarian was a member of UKIP!

Do I recall correctly that wallis was on the womens and equalities committee. Fun times.

In all seriousness, there is a woman who needs a screen to give evidence against him, and two quite young children fathered by him. I hope they are getting all the support they need.

MoistVonL · 19/05/2025 16:47

"But Ms Bahra added that her client saw her ex-wife as her “only emotional support” and that this is why she was “reaching out to her”."

Imagine divorcing this trainwreck and his Sugar Daddy dodgy website, needing a screen so you can't see him or be seen, and he still comes out with horrendous manipulative bollocks like "only emotional support"!

No, mate, you are divorced. She never wants to see or hear from you again, she is not in any way your emotional support. Leave her the hell alone!

The photos! Photographer is definitely GC.

SionnachRuadh · 19/05/2025 16:49

I am going to be sending this article (with photos!) to everyone I know who says AGP isn't a thing.

Who will be this parliament's answer to Jamie Wallis?

Exactly.

The constituency had been Labour since 1987 and Wallis only served one term before it turned Labour again.

Years ago there was a similar situation Montgomeryshire. It returned mostly Liberal MPs for a century from 1880 (Clement Davies was variously Liberal, National Liberal and Independent) until Maggie's victory in 1979. The Conservative MP was a common or garden doofus, who managed to alienate so many people that the constituency returned to the Liberals in 1983, in the teeth of a Tory landslide.

(Mind you, the Liberals chose Lembit Opik who won in 1997, but lost in 2010 to the Tories.)

CriticalCondition · 19/05/2025 16:50

So Wallis's discomfort in the dock is due to 'claustrophobia'? Nothing like getting your mitigation against any kind of custodial sentence in nice and early.

Edit for typo.

Theres a phrase about polishing...

SigourneyHoward · 19/05/2025 16:51

The two children (who from wiki will be 12 and 9 now) must have been through so much. I hope they’re properly supported and protected

edited because I can’t do maths

Mumofteenandtween · 19/05/2025 17:06

This is rather amusing from his Wiki page…..

Wallis later called for party leader and prime minister Liz Truss to resign, citing her failure to challenge anti-transgender rhetoric in the election.

Because - yes. The one thing Liz Truss did wrong as Prime Minister was fail to challenge anti trans rhetoric in the election.

CriticalCondition · 19/05/2025 17:16

They've really brought in the big guns with his brief. Narita Bahra KC specialisation is in 'defending highly complex and challenging cases, with particular emphasis on financial crime'. I should think her time is more usually spent at the Old Bailey than Cardiff Mags.

She presents a bit of true crime telly it seems.

Exactly what I was thinking. His poor ex-wife having to deal with that complete shit show of an ex-husband who just won’t fuck off.

You’re absolutely right. Some of his behaviour is similar to that described on Transwidows threads.

MarieDeGournay · 19/05/2025 17:31

According to her website, she is very highly regarded in her profession.

Deemed by legal directories as the ‘go to silk’ for high profile cases, who is a masterful advocate who has seen it all and knows just what to say and to say it to best effect.

Is "a member of the press started to follow him [sic] and he took haven in Tesco Express" an example of' just what to say' about your trans client, and is saying it before the hearing even starts 'saying it to best effect'?

CigarettesAndLoveBites · 19/05/2025 17:33

I hope his wife and kids have the support they need. It must be a terrible experience for all of them.

IW has in the past expressed views about race and immigration that would normally get you labelled right wing. There are a few other male trans activists who are linked to the Tories.

TheGreyQuail · 19/05/2025 18:48

What a complete wanker he really is, just fuck right off mate and join the other weirdos on a remote island in the middle of the ocen with no communications what so ever. Because the rest of us are fed up with your shit and woke bollocks.

Daleksatemyshed · 19/05/2025 18:58

So basically he expected that when he transitioned his wife would just go along with it and he's outraged to discover she wanted a divorce. You don't get to say I'm so upset and I need your support to the woman's whose life you've land mined and I'll harass you into you give in. What a wanker
