It’s been a while since I last saw everyone!

Welcome to everyone, regulars, lurkers, newly ventured in.

A place for women to discuss whatever takes their fancy, where the bar staff are attentive gerbils, Rosy the Red Panda is available for cuddles and all sweet things have no calories and all alcohol leaves the drinker slightly merry and hangover-free.

The Bluestocking Women's Pub, where brains can exist in a single state | Mumsnet

Welcome all. The booze here is minimally intoxicating, the food is calorie free and the staff are warm and cuddly. And if the thread title sounds nons...

Trying to remember how to write a lesson plan! I haven't written a formal lesson plan in years, and it shows.

Hello .... where is everyone?

Erm... nowhere. Honest. Sorry the bar is short staffed some of the gerbils called in sick this morning. Bad bug going around.

I'm around. I just don't have anything interesting to say.

Picture for Swashy.

Ah, I wondered what this was about.

I'll have a praury please, bar gerbil.

Magpiecomplex · 02/06/2025 13:34

@FuzzyPuffling. I asked for the drink to have lots of embellishments but I think AI slightly misunderstood.

Hello .... where is everyone?

Nice nightdress frock, InkyGrin
I'm trying to catch up with myself after putting off doing things till Sunday cos I wasn't well on Saturday, and then realising why I wasn't well on Saturday: I was brewing the migraine that laid me low on Sunday😠
So I'm now two days behind, and still not feeling great.

It's nothing important - tidying and filing paperwork, folding laundry, that kind of thing, so I suppose I can take it easy for another day.

I've nothing important to do like Magpie's lesson plans - good luck with remembering how to do them! Alternatively, you could live up to your magpieness and just nick other people's😆

FuzzyPuffling · 02/06/2025 13:54

I'm not allowed to laugh at posts any more. Who's nicked the " laugh" emoji?

Magpiecomplex · 02/06/2025 14:01

FuzzyPuffling · 02/06/2025 13:54

It appears some people were using it to bully posters - "laughing" at posts they thought were stupid, or opposite to their own opinion. So Mumsnet has got rid of it 🤷🏻‍♀️

DeanElderberry · 02/06/2025 14:20

i liked making people laugh

snotfair

I was just about to ask the same thing!

We NEED the laugh emoji here at the Bluestocking! It keeps us smiling and seeing the funny side when THERE'S SO MUCH SHIT AROUND and laughing is the only sane response!

I've had my operation, by the way. Apparently all went well, so a few more weeks' recovery and I'll be bouncing around Tigger-style once again 😄

AsWithGlad · 02/06/2025 14:32

I’d like some Blackpool Edinburgh Rock, please, @Magpiecomplex , from the jar at the front.

@FuzzyPuffling , did you choose a praurie because it’s the cheapest option? If so, let me treat you to your next drink.
Anything but the Blatpoe and Brasit Rock cocktails. The hard lumps can unexpectedly shatter your teeth, I understand, especially when you bite on them thinking they are deliciously crunchy pieces of ice.

Edited

Inky I'm so glad you got through the op, and take care of yourself until you are in Tigger-mode againSmile
I withdraw my remark about your frock - even if it looks like a nightdress, at least it's a proper nightdress, it's not made from j-cloth material and it has a back!

I once got a get well card which was something about having been seen recently in the theatre, wearing a revealing gown😄

The laugh emoji has indeed been removed, and it is sorely missed here in the Bluestocking. I thought it was removed because people who posted something really tragic were being offended and hurt by laughing reactions?

I confess I recently replied with a laughing face to one of the truly daft TRA posts on one of the toilet threads. It's the first time I've done that, maybe mine was the straw that broke the camel's back🙄

Maybe MNHG could introduce a smile emoji, a friendly smile, which we could interpret as a laugh.

Are you here with me😂

ErrolTheDragon · 02/06/2025 15:13

The ‘reactions’ didn’t work on the app and the laugh emoji they’d used was imo a particularly unattractive gurn. What’s wrong with just posting a nice cheesy Grin like we’ve done for years?

ErrolTheDragon · 02/06/2025 15:15

MyrtleLion · 02/06/2025 15:04

I think some of the gerbils stowed away in your luggage

Aah! That explains the attentive bringing of pina coladas, ice creams, bottles of water and fruit kebabs!

I think they’re working here! It’s very lovely.

Avoid the Frasdan from that cocktail menu. Tastes of fake strawberries.

Inky, splendid news about the op. May your recovery continue.

Brains is currently torn between staring at me ('WALK TIME! WALK TIME NOW!') and prowling the room after an annoying fly. Batshit, whose internal clock is a bit crap, is fast asleep.

FuzzyPuffling · 02/06/2025 15:32

The Fuzzycats are asleep.
The cosmos are potted up.
DH is poorly.
The ironing awaits.

Situation normal.

FuzzyPuffling · 02/06/2025 15:33

MN HQ, take this..

🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

DeanElderberry · 02/06/2025 15:51

What's the Praury like? It's much cheaper than anything else - the Moneert and the Blatpoe Rock would need to be pretty damn special to justify being nearly four times the price.

I have a slight suspicion that someone in the advertising department thinks we're the kind of gullible eejits who buy the most expensive thing on the menu because we imagine it's 'better'.

DeanElderberry · 02/06/2025 16:03

Anyhow, having written that one-sentence description of me in all my magnificence I re-read the email and found it was meant to be one line. ONE LINE. I'm old. I have had a portfolio career. Not like one of these children who can cover it all by saying 'Grizelda Gerbil is Professor of Cocktailology at the Bluestocking University'.

I pared it down to '[myname] is [what I was years ago] and worked as [what I did for a decade more recently] and since retirement does [things] in [county]. Still two lines. But at least it means if anyone from ancient times recognises the name they'll know it's me. Gosh though, one line.

FuzzyPuffling · 02/06/2025 16:16

The praury is very nice. Non alcoholic ( does that in part, explain the price difference?) and sort of fruity without being over sweet. It has a hint of fizziness on the tongue and a kind of overall sherbertty feel.

I recommend it- well done gerbils.

DeanElderberry · 02/06/2025 16:19

Praury sounds excellent, a bit like the Lidl non-alcoholic sparkling 'wine' (nicer than the Aldi one which is too fruity imo).

FuzzyPuffling · 02/06/2025 16:23

I like a good non alcohol wine alternative. 🍷
