It’s been a while since I last saw everyone!

Welcome to everyone, regulars, lurkers, newly ventured in.

A place for women to discuss whatever takes their fancy, where the bar staff are attentive gerbils, Rosy the Red Panda is available for cuddles and all sweet things have no calories and all alcohol leaves the drinker slightly merry and hangover-free.

Thank you - the peonies were seriously lack lustre last year with just a couple of anaemic blooms, and then this year they have just exploded. I am besotted with them. 🥰 I never knew gardens could bring so much joy… I even watch Alan Titchmarsh ont’ telly these days (in part because I’ve bumped into him in my local Waitrose carpark once or twice and he really is such a lovely man).

Hopefully Boily will leave you some cake!

Fuck!

Give me two minutes!

Thankfully the revolutionary bit about these cakes is their ability to regenerate!

How’d you lose weight after eating all the cakes, Boily (first picture)?

It was just trapped wind from yesterday's bean extravaganza. I'd give the loo a swerve for a bit though.

Boiledbeetle · 29/05/2025 20:14

I feel like something savoury now.

Eyes up abandoned packet of monster munch

Is that pickled onion flavour??

CautiousLurker01 · 29/05/2025 20:24

Ah no, pickled onion is purple. But guaranteed to clear the bar with the stench once opened…

It is the best flavour. My mum banned me from eating them indoors though…

Ghastly. Stinky.
We called my son "Conan- breath" when he'd eaten them, so bad was the smell!

I used to work with a young woman who had the habit of opening a packet of pickled onion monster munch, then adding pickled onions to it, because it wasn't pickled oniony enough.

She didn't even have the excuse of being pregnant. Takes all sorts I guess.

Bannedontherun · 29/05/2025 21:23

I’m actually going to have to buy some monster munch and try them.

i dont want to find myself in an echo chamber, my biggest fear in life.

Congrats, Deano! Wonderful news.

I'm up for some of that champagne....

DH has been doing a tax return. I have always done ours in the past. He has never really appreciated how much grief this has spared him. It is very entertaining watching him do his nut.😁

inkymoose · 29/05/2025 23:48

Congratulations @DeanElderberry! I'm also very excited about your imminent Published Author status.

It must be near impossible to sum up your personality and achievements in one sentence. Will you refer to yourself in the third person? "Dean Elderberry is simply marvellous, I cannot recommend her superb abilities and quiet brilliance highly enough - she is an erudite writer and horticulturalist as well as having accumulated enough wit and wisdom to fill at least six fat volumes of deathless prose, and poetry to boot."

Gosh the temptation to do more than one sentence is very strong.

You haven't missed much. They are very strongly flavoured, vinegary, salty puffed corn type snacks with added monosodium glutamate, modified starch, sugar and pretend onion flavour, and their name is the best part of them.

Honestly, don't give up the tasty worm on crunchy cardboard just yet

Bloody love pickled onion Monster Munch? Congrats Deano!

It's late, or early. I'm to bed but first, all my best to Swash.

SionnachRuadh · 30/05/2025 00:55

Will you refer to yourself in the third person?

That's sometimes necessary, but I feel that referring to oneself in the third person is best left to professional boxers and Arthur Scargill.

Caesar does it a lot in The Gallic Wars, and it's a pain in the back end.

inkymoose · 30/05/2025 01:17

Good night, everyone. Sleep tight, see you in the morning.

Can anyone find my focus and motivation? I have to do something spectacularly dull, but necessary, and I think I must have left both focus and motivation in my other jacket.
