I don't think I want to curse anyone badly enough to cost myself so much sleep. Last time I might have been tempted Kuwait got invaded and I wouldn't want that on my conscience. I thought I'd leave this here jic anyone else might have been interested. CTB makes a change from LTB.

Me neither. Even if I wanted to (which I don’t), there’s no Shinto or Buddhist shrines hereabouts that I know of.

(I suppose the Bluestocking might have one in its grounds but not for the purpose of cursing. )

I don't suppose anyone knows how to get wax out of your hair...just hair! Could be anyone's hair. And it's stained my a white top.

Watch arrived last night but we had already left for the airport. It will be a nice treat when I get home.

I have bought four paperbacks at the airport for my holiday and I can't wait to read actual books by the pool (rather than listen to audiobooks). I find it the easiest way to relax, second only to a canal boat where travelling at 4mph makes you slow down.

Have a wonderful time, Myrtle. A paperback by the pool is one of life's great pleasures. Esp if it is almost lunchtime and there is cold lager too.

I was lying awake last night and half thought I heard an owl. I listened harder, and realised that it was the breath whistling quietly in DH's nose, building up to a good snore....

Funny to think how an owl and husband building up to a snore evoke such different emotional responses. Ahh, a lovely owl! 😂

That was my reaction too! I love the idea of it, but I'm sure if I met her, my mind would go a complete blank & then I'd forget how to use cutlery.😂

I guarantee I'd say the wrong thing. I've very occasionally met famous people and almost every time I've said something anodyne and they've immediately huffed off.

It's not as if I squeed "I'm your biggest fan!" or tried to be edgy or anything. Perhaps they didn't like anodyne - it probably bored them.

I've done that - inside I wanted to squee "I'm your biggest fan! OMG I've wanted to meet you SO SO SO SO much!", but in trying to act calm & normal, I've come across as blase to the point of rudeness.

It's hopeless. Must. Not. Enter. The. Draw.

I occasionally meet people you might have seen on TV, but I also find anodyne is my default. Striking up a conversation is harder.

Peter Hitchens is a total gent, by the way, but it went better with him because I had something specific I wanted to ask him about. That seems to be the trick.

I have donated to Lumos, its a really good cause. Not sure what I'll do if I win a dinner with JKR though 🤔. I have pre-ordered her latest book and looking forward to reading it already.

I have to agree with @FarriersGirl , the weather is spot on for lots of gardening followed by a chilled adult beverage of one's choice, delivered by a cheerful gerbil. But apparently we're out of Ghost Ship, which was an oversight by the cellar manager.

A big rose stem got blow over by the recent gales, so I chopped it off and rescued all the flowers, which are now scenting the living room.

I donated to Lumos, too, on the GB site or at least I clicked on GB when asked about currency. Good to think my contribution will be doubled!

It would have been good to have had a tickbox for it to automatically add GiftAid - it had asked for name, address and email. I ticked the box which asked if you wanted to be sent information about GiftAid, so perhaps that will arrive tomorrow.
