Welcome all. The booze here is minimally intoxicating, the food is calorie free and the staff are warm and cuddly. And if the thread title sounds nonsensical, blame the guy Myrtle was listening to this evening!

Are those green things Dubai Tunnocks <suspicious> Just because everyone else and his wife are doing it they don't have to join in.

Not that I'd turn one down if it were offered <hypocrite>.

That sounds disgusting.

And yes I'd try one

Found this in the beer garden. Correct number of paws... Wonder who left it out there...

Speaking of the beer garden, I feel like we ought to have a garden party. No lawn boys though, they can stay at the Staunch Ally.

I'm currently trying to get the lawn boys replaced by gerbils.
And WHO is my doppelganger?

Great! and now the lawn boys have left and we have no gerbil replacements yet!

Boiledbeetle · 05/05/2025 19:36

Finally the gerbils have arrived

I’ve had a beautiful day. Spent it gardening, and going to the garden centre to buy new pots, plants and compost. It was the kind of gardening I like the best; not too strenuous and mostly feeling creative. Sat and had a cup of tea as I surveyed my new additions and I’m very happy with them. I needed a day like this.

I’m up for a garden party. Is it tonight or are we planning ahead?

Bit outing, but thought I’d send you all a genuine photograph of my lovely garden after all my hard work today 😊.

Here, have some of the hazelnut icecream with pistachio swirl I made today. It tastes better than it looks.

Gosh, has it suddenly got slightly warm in here, or is it just me?

Look, Boileybobs, we’ve had this out before. You’ll always be welcome, but please TEXT me before just turning up! I could be sunbathing naked! Or worse, I may have run out of Tunnock’s…

Magpiecomplex · 05/05/2025 20:20

I vote that Swashy and Boily co-host the next garden party. Looks gorgeous! And please can @Igneococcus do the catering?

Fine! I admit It's not my garden, I just let myself in through the side entrance.

AIBU to use the pool when Swash is out?

It's alright, having polished off an entire tub of Igneococcus's ice cream I'm feeling rather full.

Id offer to rub the sun tan lotion in on your back, but I'm scared of Marie so I won't

With proper little sandwiches, thin bread with the crusts cut off. No barbecue, no pizza oven. Small scones. Little vol au vonts and quiches. Devilled eggs. Dinky pork pies. Sparp (although mine's feeding the goldfish in the goldfish pond that we suddenly have always had). Tartan blankets with cushions to sit on on the grass in the beer garden. Various flavours of fizzy gin cocktails. The gerbil string quartet playing Metallica for....?....wot?

Not that you've given it much thought or anything!

Ah, thanks Banned. Yes, that’s my Auntie Doreen. (She sent that one out to all of us in her round robin last Christmas.) She liked that pic as she was just popping to Bingo (she won a digital teasmaid) and she thought the angle hid her double chin.

Can’t think what I’ve done with my copy, so if you’re ever getting rid of it please let me know in case she pops round for one of her unannounced visits (you know, without texting first). 😊

It does sound rather nice really.
If I'm on catering someone else has to do the pork pies. I like them but I never made any.
