Does anyone else feel disheartened?

I was so elated at the ruling and the implications for women's sex-based protections.

And I am happy that certain media outlets have realised (begrudgingly in some cases) that refusing to air the concerns of women over the last decade has lead to a very one-sided debate. It's great to see orgs such as Sex Matters being quoted so extensively now.

However, I'm really disheartened by the sheer scale of the push back and by the fact that so many women don't support the ruling. I mean, why would anyone think that women don't deserve fair and safe sporting opportunities, for example? Why is it always women that are expected to forgo their rights?

The Supreme Court ruling should be definitive, but it doesn't feel like the end. There is the judge bringing the case to the ECHR (I know some legal experts have dismissed any chances of success), but I think activists are going to pile a lot of pressure on the government to make concessions and look at amending the law. The disquiet about the ruling amongst so many Labour MPs about the ruling is concerning me.

Is anyone else feeling a bit dejected?

The NHS won't treat anyone without a diagnosis of GD, so that's horseshit, and not to be smoked.

That is absolute bullshit because there are trans people on social media, on Estrogen, and on Testosterone, who DENY they have dysphoria. So you've made a liar out of yourself.

FlakyCritic · 03/05/2025 20:56

MadBadDaddy · 03/05/2025 19:59

If you take a breath and wipe your chin, you may notice that this thread is about the pushback you are getting from people everywhere who think bullying trans people sucks, actually.

We didn't put them up to it. You deal with them.

Yet the pushback you are getting from the SC, the EHRC and the public who think predators bullying females is terrible, means you're losing the war.

GailBlancheViola · 03/05/2025 20:57

No-one is taking your prizes,

Bullshit men competing as women in women's sports have indeed taken their prizes.

and this country has recognised a transgender person's right to exist in society as their "acquired gender",

Acquired gender - not SEX.

which includes use of single sex spaces, for over 50 years. Does that help?

Single sex spaces for the sex they were born as yes indeed, there was never any right for them to use the single sex spaces, services or sports for the opposite sex and the SC ruling confirmed this. Accessing something you were never entitled to access is not and never has been a right.

Russell Brand is a rapey-wapey creepy-crawly and he supports the SC ruling and the sports bans

Wrong! Russell Brand is TRA and a close pal of Owen Jones. Oops for you.

Quit your fanciful gaslighting

You're the one that is gaslighting. And losing the war in the court of public opinion. Oh, and in actual courts.

I think someone is enjoying his scolding a little too much perhaps.

Getting off on it no doubt.

So my ds has just suggested my need to have a biological female doctor is the same as insisting I have white doctor - this is insane. I feel so upset that my ds thinks do little of my rights.

You need to spend time explaining to your son why you as his mother and as a woman are vulnerable.

Your petulant post blames everyone for your woes but yourself, the helpless victim of dark forces.

Well well well, isn't that the irony of the loser of the war.

I'm amused that he confirms, assuming he means what he says, that I am the helpless victim of dark forces. Never a truer word ...

Unless you are talking about hotdog eating competitions, then you are quite literally making that up, and now you are really angry about it too.

I see a rough road ahead for you and the DD

Oh, I'm not making it up about men winning in women's sporting competitions. Go and look up 'Veronica Ivy'. Perhaps check out the details before you make yourself look like a fool.

Plus you have confused me with someone else. I didn't mention a DD.

If I mention Pinata sticks and you think "genitals" then that's very much a "you" problem, and I would advise either talking to someone about it, or never talking about it.

CompleteGinasaur didn't mention genitals. That's all on you...

I have - he thinks the percentage of trans woman is small and the percentage of those that are a threat is tiny - so we are being ridiculous. And given that there is no law preventing men entering a woman’s loo how would we stop them anyway.
im no disappointed in him.

Ask your DS how he thinks a Black woman is going to make you pregnant. Then ask him whether a man could make you pregnant.

Well neither could as I’m beyond that! I feel he has chosen a pathway that’s easiest for him. Dh says he’s 100% behind me but didn’t utter a single word. I feel so disappointed in both of them. Have had a eeek of disgusting predatory men approaching me and I expect more from the men I thought that love me. Sitting outside a pub have a beer to calm down and god help any many who thinks I need company!😂

ThisHangrySheep · 03/05/2025 21:37

Katie Dolatowski? If he lacks empathy for his mum (😔) maybe he can see that a man should not have access to a toilet used by a 10yo girl.

Ask your son a version of the Staniland question - should a middle-aged male-bodied person with a penis have the right to go into a communal changing room where 13-year-old girls are undressing or showering?
Also ask why toilets etc should be segregated by gender identity but not sex?
For starters.
And tell your DH to back you up!

Interestingly ds’s boyfriend was horrified by the notion that a man would be in the toilets with his 11 year old sister. I left the house after the argument I was so annoyed, dh has had words since but I’m annoyed I needed to throw a wobbler for him to react. He’s always seen this as my thing - and now I’m pissed st his lack of support

JeremiahBullfrog · 03/05/2025 22:06

The law is on our side and I don't think Labour have any appetite to change it. Organisations can speak out against the ruling all they like, but they won't be able to withstand prosecution.

Enough4me · 03/05/2025 22:39

@MadBadDaddy does your senior psychiatrist help you, do you think you'll recover from dysphoria one day?

It's good that the boyfriend gets it at least! Perhaps he can be your ally - pincer movement on your son .. 😁

My lived experience is robust evidence. That's why you ignore it, preferring to write your own. It would humanise me too much.

If you were actually happy and satisfied with yourself, you wouldn’t be here showing how much you despise women.

Anyone that calls themselves MadBadDaddy is definitely not happy with themselves. It might be as a result of my childhood trauma, but I find it really quite sinister.

Does the psychiatrist help you with the dysphoria?

It’s quite likely the psychiatrist is also beset by his own untreated dysphoria.

It has been pointed out elsewhere that, because affirmation and hormones and crude surgery are the only treatment allowed, that recent newer treatments have not been tried.

That’s part of the problem when patients become doctors and start to push the agenda politically instead of with evidence based medicine.

When a lobbyist patient like Whittle, not even a medic, was president of a so-called expert medical group like WPATH, it should have been ringing all sorts of alarm bells.

Do you remember where that was mentioned? Was it on this post? (I haven't read all the comments.) Or was it on another post?
