Does anyone else feel disheartened?

I was so elated at the ruling and the implications for women's sex-based protections.

And I am happy that certain media outlets have realised (begrudgingly in some cases) that refusing to air the concerns of women over the last decade has lead to a very one-sided debate. It's great to see orgs such as Sex Matters being quoted so extensively now.

However, I'm really disheartened by the sheer scale of the push back and by the fact that so many women don't support the ruling. I mean, why would anyone think that women don't deserve fair and safe sporting opportunities, for example? Why is it always women that are expected to forgo their rights?

The Supreme Court ruling should be definitive, but it doesn't feel like the end. There is the judge bringing the case to the ECHR (I know some legal experts have dismissed any chances of success), but I think activists are going to pile a lot of pressure on the government to make concessions and look at amending the law. The disquiet about the ruling amongst so many Labour MPs about the ruling is concerning me.

Is anyone else feeling a bit dejected?

Those are very interesting and valid questions, suggesting honest curiosity, and which I'm not going to touch with a stick here. Messages are open though.

Nope, of course not. Your lot never answer questions. And there is a reason for that.

I think someone is enjoying his scolding a little too much perhaps.

Norman Bates vibes, trying to get back at Mummy from behind a screen.

I don't see "genocide" on there.

Oh look, a screenshot from a hate-filled misogynist source, whatever it is. A source that seeks to eradicate females and all our hard won rights from existence to prop up sick Autogynephilic dangerous fetishists.

Your DD is astute.

No-one is taking your prizes, and this country has recognised a transgender person's right to exist in society as their "acquired gender", which includes use of single sex spaces, for over 50 years. Does that help?

Lia Thomas took women's sports prizes. So did Veronica Ivy. So did Lauren Hubbard.

You are lying and you know it.

The SC just said that sex is biological for Equality Act purposes. Whatever access to single-sex spaces based on "acquired gender" that happened before that ruling was illegal.

Yeah. I've learned about autism here. I wonder what else there might be. Do you know where I could find more information about that?

Some.links and highlights on diagnostic overshadowing etc here. From a UK standpoint:

Except that, as has been PROVEN, transwomen are treated better than rapists. As has been doing the rounds on twitter.

Ah, so earlier he did "women get raped and abused anyway so it doesn't matter if they get raped and abused more". Of course he did.

MadBadDaddy · 03/05/2025 17:20

Then don't tell me trans people aren't being chased out of society

Edited

People are male and female. NO ONE is chasing males out of society.

MadBadDaddy · 03/05/2025 17:26

The mask has slipped, I'm afraid. "Dress how you please" sounds impressive but that isn't backed up by reality, where Gender Non Conformity is punished wherever it looms, the SC ruling will only make that worse.

Not even JK Rowling can be bothered to pretend she doesn't hate our guts these days.

Edited

And that lil screenshot means she hates males guts?

selffellatingouroborosofhate · 03/05/2025 20:36

EdithStourton · 03/05/2025 19:14

No, it doesn't help.

And yes, men claiming to be women are quite literally taking our prizes, having won in women's sports and pushed women off the podium.

Women have been assaulted in prison by men claiming to be women. And in hospital. And in toilets.

Just put yourself in our shoes for five minutes, imagine how it feels to know that you're physically weaker than almost every man you encounter, and that men are more likely to use violence than women, and picture going into the ladies ina club to escape some bloke who keeps touching you up even when you've asked him not to, and finding a man in there, too.

And the Supreme Court ruling has confirmed that all those men who have been in women's spaces should not have been.

Does that help?

Edited to correct rage-induced typo.

Edited

And any one of these bigger-than-you men could rape you and leave you pregnant and you don't know which ones would and which ones wouldn't.

So now it's just straight-up erasure and empty promises of "it will all just go away"?

Do you know why transition is the only recommended and ethical treatment for gender dysphoria? It's because the med.establishement tried everything else for a few decades first: incarceration, gaslighting, brainwashing and electric shocks. Some patients had over 60 shock treatment sessions each. They stopped doing this when they realised none of it was "curing" us.

Your ignorant platitudes belong with that rubbish, "doctor"

I guess you don't know that the majority of trans people say the don't have dysphoria. I guess also you never heard of the Cass Review or the WPATH Files, which all LEFT WING governments around the world are using to base their policy on, which proves 'transitioning' has a neutral at best and negative/suicide rate at worst. Hence the withdrawal of this 'care'.

My lived experience is robust evidence. That's why you ignore it, preferring to write your own. It would humanise me too much.

Female lived experience as the oppressed sex class is greater than any Autogynephile fetish there is.

I came here to offer an opinion on why the world isn't rushing to agree with your awesome victory, and you have all affirmed my opinion wonderfully - it's not just that you don't see trans people as human, you are incapable of it.

You mean like you are utterly incapable of seeing females as human and deserving of the most basic civil human rights.

Your petulant post blames everyone for your woes but yourself, the helpless victim of dark forces.

Your child sounds smart. A smart parent would have said "I love you and i trust you, and that's why I don't have to understand why what makes you happy, makes you happy. I have questions" instead of letting your fear and grief radicalise you ("trans identity politics") and drive a bigger wedge between you.

Intolerance destroys families. You're not the first and you won't be the last. It's never too late though, it's just you that has to change.

This is why us queers all love a "boring" coming out story.

You demonstrate the self righteousness I mentioned in every word. You are correct that "intolerance destroys families", and in my personal experience and that of many other parents I have met, the intolerance is very one-sided. It comes from those who show their bigotry by (literally) shouting "bigot" at anyone who doesn't see them exactly as they see themselves.

I can only see my son as I see him. The demand that I see him as he sees himself is coercive, especially when coupled with the threat of estrangement. No-one sees me as I see myself - you most certainly don't. Can I demand that you see me as I see myself? Of course I can't, that would be ridiculous. Trans people will always find acceptance difficult as long as they demand, demand, demand. The demand my son appears to be making is for me to pretend that I see him as a woman. But that will never satisfy him, because deep down he will know that I see him as the man he demonstrably is. So what he is actually demanding is that I completely change my understanding of sex and gender to match trans identity ideology. Doing so out of fear of his rejection would completely destroy my integrity. I am not prepared to spend the rest of my life lying to him and to the rest of the world, especially as that lie, each time I utter it, has a small but negative effect on women, and there are many women in my life - wife, mother, sisters, daughter, friends, cousins - who matter to me.

In addition, I am entirely unconvinced that lying about my son is good for him. A dose of reality is much more likely to be helpful in the long run than the pretence that life is all pretty words to make him feel comfortable. I'm old enough to know that I am not too far off having to cope with disabling conditions and cognitive decline. It will do me no good if everyone around me tells me that I'm still young and I am perfectly safe driving when my eyesight is failing or I no longer know which way to drive round a roundabout - and I will be a danger to other people if I continue. We all, in reality, have to accept truth, either voluntarily or when it smacks us in the face.

RufustheFactuaIReindeer · 03/05/2025 20:41

I’m not disheartened

the ruling clarified what was mean by the word ‘woman’ 15 years ago, the dominos are falling and it will take time to undo the actions of the last 15 years. It won’t be a ‘we see the light’ moment for anyone who has been caught up in many of the changes thinking they were doing the right thing

my son and his husband are naturally worried about some of their trans friends but they both see the importance of the ruling, now would be the time for them to lobby for third spaces, something that should have been done from the start

I've been assessed by a actual senior psychiatrist, rather than an online bully pretending to be one, and he didn't mention any of that. I'm sure he'd be pretty fascinated by you though.

And again, this is why everyone thinks you're weird and dislikes your transphobia

The psychiatrist obviously hasn't done their job. And this is why the overwhelming majority of the public disagrees with this dangerous sexual fetish, and supports feminists, and is why you are losing this war.

If I mention Pinata sticks and you think "genitals" then that's very much a "you" problem, and I would advise either talking to someone about it, or never talking about it.

The fact you thought that post was about genitals says EVERYTHING about you.

What an own goal that was.

I'm not interested in changing your minds. You all deserve each other. The point I've been making is that "privacy safety and dignity" is just a mask, and that ordinary people see past it as your dehumanising rhetoric keep spilling out regardless of any effort to keep it behind your back.

And your mob of violent, abusive, rape-threatening urine fetishists deserve each other and you deserve the losses you are getting and the SC ruling. I hope you really truly enjoy it.

There's a long tradition on MN of men joining to chastise women for not doing what they want while giving themselves names that sound like the kind of creep who used to try to start off cybersex talks in IM in the AOL chatrooms of yore.

The LGBT community has no shortage of alienated kids seeking, and finding, a safe refuge. Some were thrown out of their homes with just the clothes on their backs when they came out to their families.

And although I made a point of saying how we all love a dull coming out story, because they are so rare, you still did what you could to make a beast of me. You are proud to be cruel.

You are the beast yourself.

And what is cruel is wanting to have a man expose his penis to a little girl or woman in a female only space. Sick and cruel, and predatorial.

There is a reason you are losing this war.

Which is of course something you're an expert in.
