Guilty Feminist on Triggernometry

I’m trying to listen to Deborah Frances White on Triggernometry but having to do it in very small increments for the sake of my blood pressure.

Konstantin is remaining incredibly calm, Deborah is losing her mind via passive aggression, and after only 15 mins I was shouting “but which ones have the babies Deborah?” at my phone.

Its worth a listen even if just for entertainment value. It’s quite long so I think it’ll take me a week to get through unless I start day drinking.

I saw the trailer for this and that was rage inducing enough 😂

CornedBeef451 · 01/05/2025 09:55

I managed 3 minutes before I was shouting again. Non binary isn’t a sex! She’s so stupid.

Konstantin isn’t even being patronising or argumentative, I’ve heard him he way more combative over way less so he must be doing it on purpose.

The comments on the YouTube video are brilliant!

”This is the intellectual equivalent of a Rachel Raygun breakdance routine” being a particular favourite!

SmegmaCausesBV · 01/05/2025 09:57

I had to stop listening to her a few years back when all of the trans stuff became huge and more about deviant men pushing for our spaces. It's a shame because the show at the start was good. I can't deal with her any more so won't be listening.

CornedBeef451 · 01/05/2025 10:00

I can’t stand her after the Guilty Feminist went full TWAW so it’s more of a hate listen to see how the Triggernometry guys get on with her.

I started listening to it last night. She was all over the place, and none of her points make sense to me, or Konstantin apparently. 🤣

Lottapianos · 01/05/2025 10:26

I think I'll watch just for the entertainment value of seeing her make a complete show of herself. . Maya Forstater was on Triggernometry last week so will save that for afters as a lovely palate cleanser

illinivich · 01/05/2025 10:28

Her arguments probably make sense on her podcast where everyone is a believer. I didnt get to the end for her clown bus driver point, but im sure its a fun comparison for her people.

Its a bonkers argument to make if she wanted to convince skeptics of anything - now everyone is thinking about crazy looking people on busses.

But i think she wanted to show trig up as not being as smart as she is, not win them over. She wants them to be and think the opposite of her.

Her podcast audience, who im now picturing as wearing huge clown shoes, probably think shes nailed it.

But, as someone pointed out on another thread, the trig boys are doing the same and giving their audience what they want.

I forgot they’re on YouTube too. I’ll check out the comments.

I saw a bit of it where they were talking about aborigines not having penicillin. She seems illogical but I wondered why they invited her on, I can't imagine wanting to watch any more of it. There wasn't interesting disagreement, it was just combative and boring.

ItsCoolForCats · 01/05/2025 11:29

I have read some of the YouTube comments (highly amusing), but I think I'll give the actual podcast a swerve.

Lolapusht · 01/05/2025 11:40

I’ve just got to the bit where she asks if they’ve heard of “Two Spirit” and Konstantin says “Yessss…?” 😂😂😂

But it’s painful. Never heard the boys so quiet!!

HobnobsChoice · 01/05/2025 12:22

I've started listening to it and it's infuriating. The orphan analogy doesn't hold up the way she thinks it does. Adoption gives a child adoptive parents but it doesn't pretend the child has no biological parents. It's a legal process and when it comes to medical issues an adopted child needs to know because if they are asked about family history of heart attacks or glaucoma then they have to say they don't know, not say that their (adoptive) parents have heart disease and glaucoma as that parental relationship and love doesn't include shared genetics.
Adoption also doesn't require other children and parents to call themselves "cis-parents" or "cis-daughter" and mothers by adoption aren't asking to attend antenatal classes or be on labour and delivery wards.

That's literally my initial thoughts on her argument. I can't even deal with her attempts to ignore Chinese, Islamic, Russian and indigenous cultures which don't fit into her model of gender spectrum.

I think they like to indulge in a bit of Operation Let Them Speak every so often.

She came over as someone who is so scared of an argument outside her set parameters, and who is not really all that confident of their points. I thought maybe that she understood that she was trying to prop up points that have no scientific foundation, but then I realised when she started making references to other cultures that she has really just swallowed weak support and thinks that it is wonderfully robust.

WearyLady · 01/05/2025 13:07

It’s not often you come across someone who uses so many words to say so little. I kept drifting off.

CrazyOldMe · 01/05/2025 13:09

TBF, Deborah isn’t stupid. She wouldn’t be where she is if she was.

Therefore, she’s either:

  1. Being paid to promote the ideology (common for influencers)
  2. Too scared to speak out/ doesn’t want to be cancelled

As I mentioned on the other thread about her book (which has also segued into discussing this interview overnight), I don’t think she would compare transwomen to clowns if she were being paid or pressured by them - it’s not exactly their dream narrative, is it?

If Deborah is sincere about creating bridges with the right, the piece of advice I’d give her is that when someone disagrees with you it doesn’t mean that they don’t understand your viewpoint. She has this irritating way of being very condescending and explaining the most basic things. She took forever to explain that other countries have different cultures and explaining what a spectrum is. Most people understand this. She seemed to think the reason people don’t agree with her is because they don’t understand.

I watched the majority of it. I found it frustrating as there were a few moments I thought Konstantin could have handled better. For example, when talking about indigenous groups having multiple categories, why not challenge the fact that some indigenous groups don’t accept gay men as men and put them in another category. She had this very idealised view of these groups. Also there was a confusion between categories in a specific society and understanding there are two sexes.

Toseland · 01/05/2025 13:32

I've listened to nearly 2/3 now, not heard her before. She's using arguments from 2018! She's so sure she's sooo clever. Honestly the level of argument is poor and rambling.
I'm infuriated she doesn't seem to understand the issues but would rather talk about random shit. Fiddling whilst Rome burns! No wonder my "feminist" friends are so confused about what's actually happening - they've been led astray by her.

Lottapianos · 01/05/2025 13:42

'I found it frustrating as there were a few moments I thought Konstantin could have handled better'

He and Francis are not quite as clued up about gender ideology as they could be. It was only a few years ago that they had their minds opened by Kellie Jay Keen on their podcast. Before that, they were fully signed up to the 'born in the wrong body' nonsense

Helleofabore · 01/05/2025 13:44

"She had this very idealised view of these groups."

yes. She doesn't have any depth of knowledge but went there anyway.

StrictlyAFemaleFemale · 01/05/2025 14:10

I used to love the guilty feminist. It became more nuanced, intersectional, but I was quite disappointed by her book. I unsubscribed when they put out a statement on socials about not tolerating hate when they had the trans woman from Edinburgh refuge or whatever it was. So I can't bring myself to listen to this!

Lottapianos · 01/05/2025 14:55

Oh dear god - I'm 12 minutes in and she's talking about a bus driver dressed as a clown and Oscar Wilde's hair🤦🏻‍♂️ Konstantin has his 'WTF but I'm being polite' face on. She's so out of her depth and talking total bollocks

On a totally superficial note, she's a gorgeous woman but is wearing a hideous pair of glasses that are very distracting
