On R4 at 7.50!!

She said she spoke on behalf of the government, they welcome the judgement and it is now clear, provision must be based on Biological Sex!

Apologies for posting then running (have an appt to get to). but didn’t see another thread on this.

(If you have the sounds App you should easily beable to go to 7.50 and listen)

Because some are very male presenting? Muscular and beards etc so how would you know without making a tit out of yourself that they are biologically female? When I’m in there with someone who is presenting very male?

That's where 'third spaces' need to fill the void. They could already have existed if the will had been there ...rather than spending vast sums of emotional and aggressive energy campaigning for the aboltion of sex, and of common sense.

Because they're usually very obviously female when you see them in person rather than a filtered cropped photo.

I’ve been interested that since this announcement there’s been lots of talk about transmen with many calling in to LBC. Normally it’s all about transwomen but since they think they can use the transmen in women’s toilet as a gotcha they’ve latched on to it.

Whilst technically transmen should use the women’s I suspect this won’t happen. Let’s face it transmen pass very well and men are not at threat from women (transmen). Trans women on the other hand don’t pass and show an equal id not higher risk to women.

It must piss the TRAs off sooo much that they know transmen pass and pretty much nothing will change for them.

How and who do I get my evidence to to make the most difference in government now?

I have written to loads of MPs and not one has written back.

Have you got in touch with Sex Matters? they may be able to help advise.

Surely an occasional bit of embarrassment is worth it for ensuring general safety in womens single sex spaces?

Why has everyone suddenly become so worried about butch women and transmen?

At least women are far less likely to become violent if challenged.

ErrolTheDragon · 22/04/2025 10:52

Maybe people who feel as @autumn1610does should therefore campaign for third spaces? Assuming they’re more comfortable with mixed sex. Or maybe see if they can make a strong case for loos to be treated as sports are starting to be. In sports there is a clear a legitimate reason for single sex events for women, from which TM who take testosterone are excluded because it’s doping, and no reason why the ‘men’s’ can’t become an Open category.

Keir Starmer saying that a woman is an adult human female is a huge win! Should they apologise to the women wronged? Yes. Will they? Unlikely. I don't think it much matters personally.

He didn’t quite manage to get the word biological out of his mouth though.

Come on Keir, stand in front of the bathroom mirror and practice

” B B B B “

good start

” Bio, bio, bio”

getting there

”Biol. biol biol. Can you get me a drink of water please”

here you go.

“Biology! Biology! Biology ! By George I think I’ve got it.”

not quite Keir. Not quite. Let’s go back to the start, try not to overthink it, imagine you are reading out election promises……….. they fall out of your mouth quite easily even though you don’t actually believe them either.

I didn't notice Labour were in power for the last fourteen years.

Shouldn't you be calling on the Tories to apologise?

Labour brought in the GRA. I agree with @Felinnefineon the rest

Pluvia · 22/04/2025 10:55

I met Bridget Phillipson last year and talked to her about women's rights and she seemed on side with women and seemed to understand the main points we've been pressing for years. Obviously, she's a politician and very good at feigning interest — but those MPs who are GI supporters tend to make their feelings very clear. I was surprised to see BP fudging recently in an interview, but I imagine an instruction had been sent out to all ministers and those likely to be asked about it to waffle until the Supreme Court ruling had been delivered. She's been given the job of dealing with the toilets and changing rooms and generally saying the Supreme Court has spoken and this is the law. I bet Wes Streeting is furious: he really gets how important this is for women and LGB people.

Starmer's apparently just appeared on Sky news and done a minimising 'nothing to see here, nothing's changed, it was all always in the Equality Act' number. I haven't seen it myself. I don't think it occurs to him how cowardly it looks that he hasn't stood up for women, but I imagine he was terrified at the idea of being asked about what's happened to the 0.1% of the population who used to be women with penises and are now men. He's a lawyer and a bureaucrat: everything will have been gamed and this will have come out as the safest way to acknowledge the ruling.

Because saying "trans women are vulnerable and marginalised" isn't working anymore.

Yea, I fear I was premature in my elation as I also see he didn't actually force out the "human" either. And looking online he said a couple of years ago "women are adult females" and we all know what change was seen off the back of that (nothing good for women).

I’m all for third spaces I have been for a while and not as some people suggest that Third space being an accessible toilet.

1apenny2apenny · 22/04/2025 10:59

Surely since the ruling just confirmed that woman meant biological ie as they are now claiming ‘nothings changed’ any efforts to bring in any legislation will be taking away women’s rights. They’re on a sticky wicket and they know it.

Excellent!

Love this! It's what should have been happening all along - men expanding the bandwidth of what being a man looks and feels like, and being accepting of differences that don't adhere to traditional notions of masculinity. Just like women have done for decades.

Exactly! This is what “gender nonconformity” looks like to me - you are whatever you are born as, but that shouldn’t restrict how you dress.

And how you dress shouldn’t dictate what sex you are either!

borntobequiet · 22/04/2025 09:08

They will have been noticed most of the time, but women have been kind and tolerant. The proposed policy of gender self-ID blew all this compromise out of the water. It was a spectacular own goal for the trans movement. They only have themselves to blame.

@borntobequiet @Nominative I actually never minded if TW used the toilets, as happened back in the day too.

But the other aspects i.e. being able to just self identify without any gender transition and be able to compete in women's' sports, join a board as a TW and it can still be considered 'gender balanced' or having TW perform procedures where women-only were requested was just madness.

But , as borntobequiet says, a spectacular own goal.

And Sir Keir is nowhere to be seen or heard.

So he sends an underling who's tipped to be removed at the next reshuffle.

Where is he? Which loo is he hiding in?

Think we all recognise that he's got egg on his face after his previous nonsensical comments (kind description) about women and openly presiding over a party intent on bullying sex realist women out of it.

I've no doubt he'll be asked about this and no doubt he'll robotically respond with today's version of reality. Suspect expecting an emotionally intelligent response from him is too much .

Did you notice that his comment this morning was about 'adult females'. It seems like he's not sure if we are human.

I'm sure the issue of transmen in women's toilets came up in the report? And they said that highly passing transmen shouldn't use the ladies.

And they realise this left them in a double bind. But providers need to think about a third space in order to address the issue.

Did I imagine all that?

🙋‍♀️ One of the loos in Lord Ali’s penthouse flat?

Nope, not imagined. This thread has an article with an analysis by Akua Reindorf that covers that. It’s a brilliant article.

He's made a brief statement of the "nothing much to see here" type.

But Starmer, and other Labour pols really need their feet holding in the fire for this, all those quotes flung back at them. And as for BP, yes, let's see some positive steps on getting this propaganda out of schools.
