Could we have a thread of interesting podcasts?

Subpar from the FT. Starts with a close but no cigar summary from Robert Shrimsley, who mentions concerns about single sex spaces, but quickly moves on to trans rights being rolled back, and ultimately concludes that concern about trans rights issues is an import from the US. No evidence of understanding of women's concerns about males in our spaces nor of the silencing of women over this issue.

Geoff Norcott’s What Most People Think is interesting. He can be a real git-but he’s generally a thoughtful git. https://podcasts.apple.com/gb/podcast/what-most-people-think-with-geoff-norcott/id1453517233?i=1000703987068

I don't listen to TRIP anymore. They're misogynists both of them and I was a massive Rory Stewart fan. I used to think I was learning from them, but now I just don't trust them on anything because the one subject I know about and could challenge them on they were absolutely and utterly woeful.

This, they are dreadful and don’t like women talking back at all.

CatDogGuineaPig · 19/04/2025 07:39

I also won't listen to TRIP UK (I also love TRIH) because of their misogynistic coverage of issues in Afghanistan and Iran... The Newsagents was awful because of Goodall who never even mentions women's rights.

The Story from The Times had Helen Joyce being interviewed by Manveen Rana. So clear and coherent. I would make Goodall, Campbell etc etc sit in a room and be forced to listen to it

VioletSpeedwell · 19/04/2025 08:01

Megyn Kelly is pro Trump and anti abortion. I love her stance on trans issues though.

LittleBigHead · 19/04/2025 08:40

(I also used to work for Stewart and have Views).

ooooo, do tell.

I used to think he was a good MP (I come from round there) and a bearable Tory. But he's sounding increasingly entitled and smug

I am hoping Helen Lewis on Private Eye p94 podcast covers it properly - and educates the men. Blocked and Reported definitely will - just hope it isn't a primo episode as I don't (yet) subscribe. Also the New Stateman podcast with the peerless Hannah Barnes will almost certainly cover it.... next week should be good!

Gave up on the awful TRIP and the news agents a long time ago.

I love the BARPod - I keep wondering whether it's wrth subscribing - it might be if I lived in the US, I think. Anyone here a Primo?

Not a podcast, but Have I Got News For You didn't cover it at all last night. Cowards.

sandgreen · 19/04/2025 10:21

Waiting to see if The Economist’s The Intelligence catches up next week. Was surprised they didn’t cover Cass, so perhaps they will swerve again.

I watched it to see how the ruling would be covered, one of the biggest news stories of the week totally ignored, cowards !

I stopped watching that show years ago, since they wouldn't cover this issue except very infrequently, as an excuse to mock women.

Not a podcast and might have been posted elsewhere but it's so angry and acerbic it made me laugh out loud so I'm sharing. I used to despise Brendan O'Neill, I don't anymore.

This is delightful! Thank you for sharing.

Probably only relevant to Scots!

I subscribed to the Lesley Riddoch podcast at a time when I thought independence was the answer. I since realised that the Scottish Government couldn’t run a bath, never mind a country.

She has always been hopeless on this ‘culture war’ , ‘overblown’ ‘just let folks live in peace’ . Last podcast she claimed she was almost a candidate as an MSP for the Greens until they discovered she was on the wrong side of the GRR among BBC with Andy Wightman! Andy was a Green MSP fired for attending a FWS meeting in Edinburgh.
she did say she’ll cover the judgement next week- that will be an interesting reverse ferret!

Apologies if already answered but does anyone know any good articles that describe the last few years of madness and the issues with the trans movement and implications for women and girls? Just want a couple of things to share with family who “haven’t thought about it much” and are still in the live and let live mindset…talking to my mum
today and when I mentioned that girls like my DD shouldn’t have to play sport against boys/ all the girls who have lost out on scholarships etc and she was saying yes I agree that’s wrong….just needs a push for the scales to drop haha

I would start with this one. https://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2025/apr/20/the-supreme-court-has-carefully-ringfenced-protections-for-women-thats-all-we-wanted
There are lots of others in the thread on aren't the headlines glorious. Good luck!

The supreme court has carefully ringfenced protections for women. That’s all we wanted | Sonia Sodha

Last week’s ruling clarified the legal safeguards of the Equality Act. However, it was a travesty that the battle needed to be fought at all

Yes he is absolutely spot on.

Great thread thanks.

I found a good (long) one with Helen Joyce on Nature & Nuture.

Not sure Helen can have had any sleep in the last week she has done so many interviews. She is really amazing. She’s so good at explaining things.

As employers grapple with the Supreme Court ruling, we ask: how did ‘trans inclusion’ go so wrong at work?

I absolutely love the This Isn't Working podcast. Its so important that these conversations are being had through a normie lens and its the podcast I share the most with people unaware of the broader impact of this issue.
