I don't post much on here anymore but just wanted to take a moment today to thank Mumsnet @MNHQ and Justine in particular for standing strong over a considerable number of years.

I fully appreciate that not all Mumsnet members or employees held the same beliefs but in the fury of doxing, banning, and insults, MNHQ held the line to enable this space where women were able to have a discussion.

I know the arguments and concerns over the years but the fact is that this was the only public space for a considerable number of years where a conversation was allowed about what came to be known as gender critical concerns.

This was where women came to gather, to discuss, to learn, to be heard, to form new spaces, to support and to stand strong. It wasn't always a pleasant place to be but it was always a place that was allowed to exist. It stood against the pressure groups, the hate, the doxxing, the pressure of advertisers, Stonewall law and it did so by simply being allowed to exist. The women on here and in the wider world did the rest. It's easy to forget just how difficult it was for MNHQ to hold the line especially when being attacked by all sides.

Thank you.

I've been thinking this too. I was informed and awakened by this forum back in 2018 and have admired the way MN has held its nerve and continued to provide space for these discussions. What a historic archive this will be!

Thank you MNHQ, and the wise women who opened my eyes.

Boiledeggandtoast · 16/04/2025 20:21

A huge thank you from me too. I am incredibly grateful to all who have posted on this forum with so much knowledge, wisdom and wit as well as mental strength.

Absolutely, I felt like I was going mad when I first heard about this stuff - back when Germaine Greer was getting cancelled, and I would have felt very isolated in my views without this site.

RufustheFactuaIReindeer · 16/04/2025 20:42

Thank you MNHQ 💐

DuesToTheDirt · 16/04/2025 20:42

Same here. It has been my main source of information on this issue - not my only source, as I like to check facts and see if what people are saying is true. But it always turns out that the regulars on FWR are indeed spot on.

BIWI · 16/04/2025 20:51

Thank you Mumsnet.

I came to the ‘party’ a bit late, as I had no idea that people could be banned/silenced/pilloried for views that seemed, to me, to be eminently obvious and sensible.

It was a shocking revelation that women could be subject to such strictures; very Handmaids' Tale, and seemed unbelievable.

Since then I’ve ‘watched’ many of the legal cases, and am in awe of those women (and their legal teams) who have fought so hard for women’s rights. Especially Maya - go you!

But without being able to talk about it here, it would have been so much more difficult.

Thank you MNHQ and fellow vipers. Every day is a school day.

TuddlyCoy · 16/04/2025 21:15

Agreed. This forum has literally been life changing for me. I'm mostly a lurker (especially in the last couple of years) but I used to contribute and ask questions a lot and it has been brilliant.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 16/04/2025 21:16

Thank you from me too 💐 you held the line when it mattered.

JKRismyPatronus · 16/04/2025 21:21

Thank you MNHQ 🍷

GU24Mum · 16/04/2025 21:24

Echoing all the PPs. It’s been great to have a community and realise that other people have the same views. And very informative too: many of the posters have provided really interesting and informative detail which would have been almost impossible to read otherwise.

SorenLorensonsInvisibleFriend · 16/04/2025 21:29

Adding to the flowers for Mumsnet 💐

WaterThyme · 16/04/2025 21:33

It was such a relief to find this board.

Thank you MNHQ

MrsOvertonsWindow · 16/04/2025 21:37

What a lovely (and important) thread. ❤❤

lapuf · 16/04/2025 21:38

Thanks MNHQ. It’s the main reason I’m a premium member, the permission to host these discussions is invaluable.
I too was radicalised by Mumsnet in 2018 and have done my bit in campaigning (sport), donating (I have a YNAB line) and a bit of posting. Massive thanks to those amazing women who have educated me so much and achieved this massive breakthrough. It’s not that the tide is turning, it has to be that it’s turned.

NotDarkGothicMama · 16/04/2025 21:46

Agreed. I've met some fantastic women on FWR thanks to MNHQ standing firm against the bullies.

ICouldHaveCheckedFirst · 16/04/2025 21:47

Just adding my thanks for having this space.

Talkinpeace · 16/04/2025 21:50

Peaked many years ago by Mumsnet.
Never looked back.

GoatsareGOAT · 16/04/2025 22:18

Thank you @MNHQ
I've been around for donkeys & don't often post now but name change because I've been around long enough to remember why.

FWR let me read & understand then hone my arguments. FWR gave me the courage to write many many letters & speak to my chocolate teapot MSP. The gardening tips are always excellent too.

(I do miss the midnight baking threads & several wrongly banned posters though!)

BloodyMaryMorning · 16/04/2025 22:23

Another thank you to add to the chorus.

Calyx72 · 16/04/2025 22:27

Thank you Mumsnet

PersonIrresponsible · 16/04/2025 22:27

Chiming in with my thanks.

VeraWangTea · 16/04/2025 22:29

@MNHQ thank you

yetanotherusernameAgain · 16/04/2025 22:30

Thank you from me too.

Shimmyshimmycocobop · 16/04/2025 22:30

I would like to add my thanks too, I've been so far ahead in this compared to people in my daily life with regards to this issue thanks to mumsnet and all of you on here. DC like to joke I've been radicalised by mumsnet, they're not wrong. 💐
