I don't post much on here anymore but just wanted to take a moment today to thank Mumsnet @MNHQ and Justine in particular for standing strong over a considerable number of years.

I fully appreciate that not all Mumsnet members or employees held the same beliefs but in the fury of doxing, banning, and insults, MNHQ held the line to enable this space where women were able to have a discussion.

I know the arguments and concerns over the years but the fact is that this was the only public space for a considerable number of years where a conversation was allowed about what came to be known as gender critical concerns.

This was where women came to gather, to discuss, to learn, to be heard, to form new spaces, to support and to stand strong. It wasn't always a pleasant place to be but it was always a place that was allowed to exist. It stood against the pressure groups, the hate, the doxxing, the pressure of advertisers, Stonewall law and it did so by simply being allowed to exist. The women on here and in the wider world did the rest. It's easy to forget just how difficult it was for MNHQ to hold the line especially when being attacked by all sides.

Thank you.

I'll echo the thanks to MNHQ!

Considering Susan, Trina and Marion met on Mumsnet, without this site there would be no For Women Scotland and today wouldn't have happened.

And now I'm all tearful again!

Right back to my celebrations, although I may have drunk enough by now!

Thank you MNHQ
Voice0fReason · 16/04/2025 19:15

Yes, I have to agree. This has been an excellent place to learn, discuss and meet other women.

WhoAreYouTalkingTo · 16/04/2025 19:23

MN helped me to coalesce the uncomfortable thought into my head into comprehensive argument. So I thank them for that. What a day!!

youkiddingme · 16/04/2025 19:23

Thank you for what was/is often a space to hold onto my sanity!

swayinggarland · 16/04/2025 19:25

I’ve read so much, hardly ever posting, but really thankful to have had this space. I’ve learnt so much over the years.

idolikealiein · 16/04/2025 19:25

Thank you from me too.

Noodlie · 16/04/2025 19:30

Huge thanks from me too - I was banned from Twitter three times for stating the obvious, so having a place where such an invasive ideology could actually be discussed was extremely precious.

wonderstuff · 16/04/2025 19:31

Hear hear! I don’t often contribute to the GC threads, but I really, really appreciate MN hosting them and providing a forum for women to say unpopular things. Would have been much easier not host such discussions but it is the right thing. Flowers

SwordOfOmens · 16/04/2025 19:46

Absolutely! Thank you MNHQ! I found mumsnet when I'd been banned for 30 days for defending a feminist on Facebook who had been "cancelled" for having a GC position. I was bereft and felt angry about the injustice.

I came here and saw the good fight was being fought right here.

I was a TERF refugee and found my tribe.

You're all amazing women and I love you all ❤️

Waitwhat23 · 16/04/2025 19:49

I love these threads as I love seeing the waves from the lurkers!

Thanks to Justine and MNHQ from me too. I've not always totally agreed with decisions but it's been bloody brave of you to face down all the shit coming from every angle and still protect this platform where women can speak. It's been invaluable and a huge part of why the UK is TERF Island and leading the charge to reclaim women's rights.

wowwhataday · 16/04/2025 19:51

Another thank you for providing and protecting this space

BoreOfWhabylon · 16/04/2025 19:52

Agree entirely. Thank you MNHQ and @JustineMumsnet

Ingenieur · 16/04/2025 19:55

Yes, brava Mumsnet and Justine!

Such a brave and welcome stance, that has been borne-out as valuable and truly inclusive

sweetgrapes · 16/04/2025 19:56

My personal activism has ebbed and flowed over the years but I have always lurked here and learnt so much. Radicalised on Mumsnet with the very best of women!

Thanks to MNHQ! Thanks to Justine!

Thank you from me too - my eyes were firmly opened by the amazing women on this site & without the freedom for those posters to post, I’d still be mainly oblivious & not realise the threat women have been under! Thank you for allowing that.

nocoolnamesleft · 16/04/2025 20:06

Totally agree. So grateful for this space.

Cantunseeit · 16/04/2025 20:08

💐 from me too. I’ve said before that this place saved my sanity when DD2 fell into the upside down, but it’s also given me ways to direct my rage and hone my arguments. I mostly lurk, garden and take small actions that won’t rock the boat at home but do more the longer I’m here. Thanks Mumsnet

BoreOfWhabylon · 16/04/2025 20:08

Also, it's good to see @Blistory again!

GCITC · 16/04/2025 20:11

Heartfelt thanks from me too. This fight would have been a whole lot harder if we didn't have this space to converse and share ideas.

DisappearingGirl · 16/04/2025 20:11

Entirely agree.

In fact, if not all of MNHQ agreed with some of the discussion, all the more thanks to them for allowing open discussion and debate anyway.

The way debate on this topic was shut down globally has been actually quite terrifying and I hope people will take note of this next time a contentious issue comes up.

DurhamDurham · 16/04/2025 20:12

It's a happy day, long overdue. Mumsnet has felt like a safe space for women. Thank you CakeBrew

BloodyHellBob · 16/04/2025 20:13

I have learned so much from MN and I’m so glad I didn’t feel like I was shouting into the void when I came here. I feel a bit tearful that finally common sense seems to have prevailed…should never have needed to go to Supreme Court but here we are and rightly vindicated!

GurlWithACurl · 16/04/2025 20:13

Huge thanks from me also. I hardly ever post, but read Mumsnet every day and have done for years. This is a fabulous place with fabulous women who are really making a difference.

BunnyRuddington · 16/04/2025 20:13

Another wanting to give my thanks for staying strong in what must have been unbelievably difficult times.

Without this forum I would never have realised just what was happening and feel strong enough to talk to other Women in RL.

Hope you’re celebrating hard Gin

Christwosheds · 16/04/2025 20:14

Another thank you. It’s the sole reason I subscribe as I don’t really care about the ads, I do however very much care that women can talk to each other about issues that affect women. So many brilliant and brave women on here.
