Scottish Greens being sexist again

With Sparkles no longer a member other male Scottish Greens have had to step up to continue their terrible reputation. They are doing their bit.

Scottish Greens council candidate claimed JK Rowling was a Holocaust denier and said trans rapist Isla Bryson was a woman
Exclusive: Eryn Browning has been chosen by the Scottish Greens to contest a by-election in Clydebank Waterfront but offensive historic posts have resurfaced.

There is hope the Scottish Greens might plunge into civil war after their conference. Patrick Harvie is standing down as leader but Slater is standing again and there is opposition over her elitist behaviour.

So that’s why Ross Greer is saying others asked him to stand. According to the Herald:

”Ross Greer has said he is “seriously considering” standing for co-leadership of the Scottish Greens.
The West of Scotland MSP has told The Herald he has been encouraged by Scottish Green members to throw his hat in the ring.”

Burgess is actually one of the few current Greens who seems interested in environmental considerations. It's very disappointing she's so dim on this issue.

BezMills · 31/05/2025 08:09

"Encouraged by others to throw his hat in the ring" is, I think, never ever true.

"Managed to barely find enough backers to take a long punt at it" is closer to the truth of it, I think

Ross 'Meep' Greer who appears to have never had any kind of job outside of politics.

I assumed this was a piss take. It appears to be entirely serious -

My low opinion of the general calibre of MSP's reaches its nadir when it comes to the Green MSP's in particular.

Couldn’t see it on this thread - Eryn Browning almost bottom of the votes at the by-election - chucked out at Stage 3 of the vote count. 87 votes!
The turnout was 25%!

That many?!

I read both of those articles in the Herald (introducing the candidates) and neither one of them mentioned the environment.

fromorbit · 31/05/2025 15:33

Good! Well hopefully Greer's antics and the general Green craziness is registering with more and more people.

Just how badly the Greens have done is highlighted in this article. Most of the stuff they tried to get out of the SNP has been cancelled.

How did the SNP-Green relationship go so wrong?

The 2026 Scottish Parliament election is going to be something to see. Everything indicates the Greens are going to escalate their war on reality in next year, get into more civil wars and are not going to take any responsibility.

I don't want to see Reform do well, but these people are making Farage look good.

Dropping plans for a new national park is the latest in a series of policies driven by the Scottish Greens to have been scrapped by the SNP.

From Save the Whales to pup play and furries.

Useless, gender-addled twunts.

Well he looks like a lovely lass.

Are they not supposed to have one male and one female co-leader? How will they know?! Absolute fuckwits.

My understanding is that the policy is to have two co-leaders, of whom one does not identify as a man and the other does not identify as a woman.

I suppose this is actually quite a clever way of getting around the problem that has been created by the combination of a desire to show a commitment to equality of the sexes while also incorporating the "genderwang" thing.

Hilarious article from Mandy Rhodes on the Scottish Greens special debate on toilets in Holyrood:

Why are MSPs wasting time on toilets when the country is going down the pan?

https://www.holyrood.com/editors-column/view,why-are-msps-wasting-time-on-toilets-when-the-country-is-going-down-the-pan

Saw an interesting post on Harvie's chances in his battle against his two trans rivals to be a candidate next time:

Scottish Greens have around 7k members. Only a small proportion tend to vote in these internal elections, so the decision (in effect election of an MSP) will be made by a few hundred people.

Why are MSPs wasting time on toilets when the country is going down the pan?

The internal battle is getting ever more absurd.

Green men urged to make way for ‘radical women’ candidates
Patrick Harvie and Ross Greer should step aside and make way for “radical women” at the top of the party’s list for next year’s Holyrood election, a leading Scottish Greens activist has said.
The call follows the party’s decision to scrap its gender-balancing system for election candidates.
Niall Christie, who has entered the race for a spot on the Greens’ Glasgow list, said men in leadership positions should refuse to take the top spot on the Holyrood ballot.
He said he would step aside for a woman or non-binary candidate even if fellow members ranked him number one.
"It is entirely within a candidate's purview to say that they'll allow themselves to be balanced in for women and non-binary people, and I would fully intend to do that.
“If I were to get the most votes in Glasgow, I would not dare sit top of the list, because we need a woman in Glasgow,” he said. “We have had a Green MSP for 23 years, and we need a woman to lead that.”
He named Ellie Gomersall and Iris Duane as “excellent candidates” who had already put themselves forward, and said there was “no doubt” others would follow.
https://archive.is/rU0Pg

So he is suggesting replacing Harvie and Greer with other men then.

I personally have zero problem with Harvie and Greer being supplanted by other men.

SinnerBoy · 05/06/2025 16:10

Well, one or two of them might inhabit The Reality Community...

INeedAPensieve · 05/06/2025 18:52

The Scottish greens are embarrassing.

JanesLittleGirl · 05/06/2025 22:43

It doesn't matter what the Scottish Greens do. It will be wrong because they are trying to square a circle that cannot exist in reality.

ArabellaScott · 05/06/2025 22:48

The Scottish Greens have taken their last sliver of credibility, shredded it into ribbons, pulped it, hammered it to the thickness of paper, set fire to it, and blown the smoke up each other's arses.

I actually hope that they pick complete nutjobs for the two candidates, so that their lunacy will be unavoidable. Then hopefully voters who are still voting for them, blindly thinking that the Green Party will be good for the environment, actually realise what is going on and stop voting Green. Perhaps then the Scottish Greens will implode and can start again from scratch.

ArabellaScott · 06/06/2025 07:01

I hope so too. We need a party for the environment.

All 695 of them in the Hamilton L & S bye-election😄
8559 votes for the winning Labour candidate...

Thatsrhesummeroverthen · 06/06/2025 08:49

It was very common for people to vote green as their second choice in Scotland. Obviously I stopped doing that when they lost the plot.

'THE <a class="break-all" href="https://archive.ph/o/G3s3P/www.thenational.scot/topics/scottish-greens/" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">Scottish Greens are investigating a bullying complaint against MSP <a class="break-all" href="https://archive.ph/o/G3s3P/www.thenational.scot/politics/maggie-chapman/" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">Maggie Chapman, the Sunday National has learned.
Documents shared with this paper allege that the MSP contacted the place of work of Green activist Guy Ingerson in October 2024 to suggest that he “was untrustworthy and should be ‘watched’”.
Ingerson is named as the complainer in the documents, which the Sunday National understands were brought before the Greens’ Conducts and Complaints Committee last week.

The complaint reads: “On October 15, 2024, I was informed by my line manager that Ms Chapman had raised concerns to my place of employment, [redacted]. This involved speaking with a board member of the organisation and insinuating that I was untrustworthy and should be ‘watched’.
“The full details of this incident can be provided to the CCC upon request. A contact has been provided. I am currently in my probation period with my new employer, and this could have resulted in my termination.
“This act shows an escalation of the malicious behaviour described previously and is a serious breach of the Code of Conduct.”
The document makes reference to a separate complaint put in by Chapman against Ingerson, which the Sunday National understands was ultimately dismissed.
It states: “There was also an instruction to take pictures etc of Ms Chapman at any event in which we are both in attendance, regardless of the capacity I may be there in.
“As well as being a highly inappropriate attempt to force me to work for the party outside of party-related events, this unreasonable expectation formed part of the complaint Ms Chapman had made against me.”
Other allegations in the complaint relate to disagreements around social media output or internal party processes about motions to be heard at conference.
Green co-leader and MSP <a class="break-all" href="https://archive.ph/o/G3s3P/www.thenational.scot/topics/patrick-harvie/" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">Patrick Harvie and MSP Mark Ruskell are both named as witnesses in the documents.

Ingerson was second on the Greens’ North East Scotland regional list in the 2021 <a class="break-all" href="https://archive.ph/o/G3s3P/www.thenational.scot/topics/holyrood/" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">Holyrood elections, and is believed to be bidding to take the top spot from Chapman for the 2026 vote.
One source who has worked with both dismissed the idea that the latest bullying complaint was simply part of a selection battle between the two, saying: “I have seen tit-for-tat selection battles and this isn’t one.”
They said that while they have seen “malicious complaints about [Chapman] in the past”, they believed this was “legitimate”.
Both Ingerson and Chapman declined to comment in detail on the complaint.
Chapman said: “I cannot comment on anything that has been raised with the Conduct and Complaints Committee to review as this is an internal party process that is dealt with in private, and that must be respected.”
And Ingerson said: “I won't comment on internal party processes, but I will make the general point that bullying is unacceptable in any political party and in any workplace.”
