Scottish Greens being sexist again

With Sparkles no longer a member other male Scottish Greens have had to step up to continue their terrible reputation. They are doing their bit.

Scottish Greens council candidate claimed JK Rowling was a Holocaust denier and said trans rapist Isla Bryson was a woman
Exclusive: Eryn Browning has been chosen by the Scottish Greens to contest a by-election in Clydebank Waterfront but offensive historic posts have resurfaced.

There is hope the Scottish Greens might plunge into civil war after their conference. Patrick Harvie is standing down as leader but Slater is standing again and there is opposition over her elitist behaviour.

At least Mackay has done something for.women (abortion clinic buffer zones)

MarieDeGournay · 10/05/2025 11:33

The Central Scotland MSP said it was “important that we have women with big voices .."
With bigger lung capacity? bigger vocal tract? lower larynx?
That kind of 'women with bigger voices??

Latest hilarity from the Scottish Greens.

Patrick Harvie is facing an internal challenge for his position on the MSP list foe 2025 from Ellie Gomersall. Harvie is not quite crazy or sexist enough it seems [words seldom heard] according to Gomershall who said : “We need really radical left-wing socialist politicians who can speak up for the people of Glasgow.”

Gomersall is a notorious TIM who loves publicity, former student politician, Glasgow campaign manager for the party and a columnist for The National, and prominent figure in the TA faction inside the Scottish Greens having various positions on the LGBT section.

Some Gommersall background:

Gommersall identified as potentially being similar to the criminal Bryson only last month on the Jeremy Vine show.

Very much a case where one hopes they can all lose.

If there’s still anyone reading this site thinking of voting Green: Nice to have it finally admitted openly, we suppose.

Who the fuck votes Green under any circumstance let alone this??

I hope he wins, sunlight and all that.

ArabellaScott · 23/05/2025 12:47

Fantastic.

terryleather · 23/05/2025 13:26

White middle class men declaring special identities really are the very definition of "running a nice hot bath of other people's oppression and having a w**k in it".

Sadly there seems to be a never ending supply of them...

Because Scotland has a form of proportional representation we unfortunately end up with some people who polled a minority of votes, but over a very large area with several universities the votes add up and they end up in parliament!

WinterTrees · 23/05/2025 13:53

Ellie Gomersall doesn't believe in sex or capital letters it seems. I find both very useful for making sense of things.

Somehow the Scottish Greens full level of crazy hasn't become wide knowledge outside right leaning people and feminists. However it is starting to filter through I am suspecting the 2025 election will make it clearer especially as it looks like they are going to get involved in internal warfare over the next year. Plus the SNP are very wary of them now after they took out Humza Yousaf.

I think the TAs inside the Greens may damage them just as they have an opportunity as Labour is in trouble.

Scottish Women will continue to help in undermining them simply by existing and saying things and meeting in public during the run up to the election. They desperately want to get witch hunting again, so a bunch of witches just hanging out can trigger a huge meltdown for them.

And now the greens have abandoned their gender quotas. If men can't be included then women get nothing.

Hilariously men are being asked to step aside. Will Patrick Harvie step aside for Ellie Gomersall? 🤔 🤭

Does that include transmen, I wonder?

Harvie is now facing a second trans opponent. Take note you can spend years being sexist and still they turn on you.

Patrick Harvie faces activist challenge for Glasgow list

Patrick Harvie’s return to Holyrood next year could be in doubt, with a second prominent Scottish Green activist challenging him for the top spot on the Glasgow list.
Iris Duane told The Herald on Sunday there needed to be a “significantly more representative and radical voice for the Greens in Glasgow”.
If elected, she would likely become the Scottish Parliament’s first transgender MSP — and the first person of colour to represent the Greens at Holyrood.
Ms Duane’s announcement comes just days after fellow Green activist Ellie Gomersall also declared her intention to contest Mr Harvie’s nomination.

Brilliant idea. Sophie should definitely stand.

PonyPatter44 · 26/05/2025 16:04

Why doesn't Harvie just identify as a woman as well? He doesn't have to change a thing about himself, he just has to say the magic words, and at that point Gomersall's head will explode.

Waitwhat23 · 26/05/2025 20:52

Can you imagine?

Gomersall - 'but you're a non non-man!'
Harvie - 'eh, no, I'm a non non non-man. It's a thing you know!'
Gomersall - 'no, you're not! You're just a man!'
Harvie - 'ooh, who's a nasty wee bigot, bigot?! I'm a non non non-man if I say I am!'

Iris Duane - Yet both of you are white which as we know is an exploitative and therefore masculine move.

Lets hope there is a hustings debate. Even better if an actual women stands as it would be an interesting contrast.

No equality between men and women apparently.

Scottish Greens abandon gender quotas after Supreme Court ruling

https://www.holyrood.com/news/view,scottish-greens-abandon-genderbalance-quotas-after-supreme-court-ruling

But the measure has been under review as part of election strategy considerations, and the Greens’ National Council, has now voted to replace its gender quotas with “alternative measures to support and encourage women, trans and non-binary candidates to stand”.
As part of the move, male members considering candidacy have been asked to step aside. It is unclear whether this will include the incumbent MSPs Patrick Harvie, Ross Greer and Mark Ruskell.
A source said: “The mechanism used by the party was relatively common. This could end up being very messy.”

How do they know who is male??

So it seems judging by Harvie's problems it looks like there will be a shortage of men wearing trousers inside the Scottish Greens soon. Maybe he should kilt up quick? Or just go genderfluid.

Harvey should just identify as a woman. Job done 🤷‍♀️

Who votes for them -or is it that ‘fair’ election method we have where a load of extras who didn’t win anything get foisted onto your constituency.
Edit - Refform should shake this up.

Burgess desperate to claim the hotly contested mantle of being the worst Scottish Green, but is lagging behind.

A Green MSP has been accused of ‘potential defamation’ after calling gender-critical campaigners ‘anti-trans hate groups’

For Women Scotland

"We are saddened, but not surprised, that a Scottish Green MSP is happy to put her name to abusive - potentially defamatory - comments about grassroots women's rights groups. "had the Greens got their way, women's rights would have been utterly destroyed."
