Fabulous news! 🎉

@theilltemperedqueenofspacetime
Thanks for the laughing face. But I'm not joking.
There is no reason for hospitals not to be shuffling wards round today they do it all the time anyway.

Prisons might need time to organise themselves. Find space elsewhere.

Schools are closed.

Offices get the memo out no trans in the opposite sex toilets.

They are breaking laws which are now crystal clear.

My bad, I thought you were using hyperbole to comic effect.

The laughing face is turning out to be a bit problematic all round.

I bet the Supreme Court judges each took one look at the mess of conflicting legislation, side eyed each other and said um, is it me, or is everyone else seeing that fucking massive, naked Emperor.

Completely agree!

It has brought me to tears today as I honestly thought this would go the other way!

Thank you to all the brave women who have stood loudly & proudly at the front (for those of us too afraid of losing our jobs to speak out) & especially to FWS. You ladies are amazing!

TwoLoonsAndASprout · 16/04/2025 13:13

Have we all seen that the SG has replied? I will just copy and paste part of their statement - you can all draw your own conclusions…

The Scottish government acted in good faith in our interpretation of both the Gender Recognition Act 2004 and the Equality Act 2010; and our approach was guided by the published guidance of the EHRC.

🙄🙄🙄

Just received a text from my Dad asking if I had seen the news and how brilliant it is!

I really wish I could take the afternoon off and go and sit outside a bar in the sunshine with a glass of champagne but I’m off next week so really busy. Bastard work.

SinnerBoy · 16/04/2025 13:18

Ie we lied, bullied and winged it. And we would'a got away with it, if it weren't for you pesky wims!

And a big boy did it and ran away…

Sky News says that Monroe Bergdorff is speaking to legal experts about how this will affect their community.

I heard him say Ellie Gomersal. Of course, they might have wheeled Mr. B out as well...

Also, for those following the Dr. Upton case in detail, the Supreme Court written judgement explicitly clarified that the right for biological woman to request same sex care means by a biological woman (defined as since birth). So not Dr Upton, a man identifying as women, even if he had a GRC.

Be interesting to see what NHSFife do now. What they SHOULD do, is back the fuck down but if they don't....

maltravers · 16/04/2025 13:19

”Jane Fae” on the news now saying “yes but they haven’t defined biological women “ 🙄

I think they will try to fall on their sword as round 1 went badly enough for them.

Unsurprisingly disingenuous.

Here's a clue, Jane, not you.

Ah, but they did! They covered all their bases. It can’t be helped if the TRAs and their handmaidens can’t be arsed to read the whole thing…

I think the judgment could be a convenient fig leaf for Fife to push for a settlement.

A TRA reporting goes to see what all the noise is about and is drowned out by a crowd of joyful singing women. Did I spot Jean from Aberdeen in that group? It looks like her!

NHS fife considering their position

But Upton is a biological woman so....🤔

They said they were a biological woman because they weren't a robot, but AFAIK they hadn't had their robosomes tested, so how would they know?

spannasaurus · 16/04/2025 13:23

Just seen this post from Colin Wynter KC on x reminding people that the decision states what the law has always been and not what it should mean from the date of judgement

popehilarious · 16/04/2025 13:23

Rather we are judged on the outward expression of our sex category, our gender.

So RMW is stating that gender is simply "which sex you look like"?!

Ooh yes, that's important.

GalacticTowelMaster · 16/04/2025 13:27

My (captured) organisation not yet posted anything on our Women's network... wondering if they actually will

Yeah not sure RMW wants what they say they want tbh. I have always been of the opinion that the law cannot be based on some kind of beauty contest.

PerkingFaintly · 16/04/2025 13:28

I can't watch this too many times.Grin

LOVE how the judge has been at such pains to spell out that trans people still have protection in law from the Equality Act, etc.

Cuts off at the knees the protestations we know are coming.

BettyBooper · 16/04/2025 13:29

Shelagh on LBC is being incredibly patient with Phoebe right now

EasternStandard · 16/04/2025 13:30

Love the coverage in this. Not important my backside.

So much gratitude to FWS for taking this to the Supreme Court and winning.
